I am as old as my hair and slightly older than my teeth.  I am in my sixteenth lustrum.

jesus old timers lol

Tsk, tsk.  You're only as old as you feel.  Watching the youngsters squirm is often entertaining, however.

So you're between 76 and 80. Wow!

Well I'm 22.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

18 turning 19. I must admit that though it is entertaining to see the see youngsters squirm their way for a solution, it is more entertaining and amusing to see the seniors find themselves enjoying technology at its golden age. Not everyone who are old are willing enough to learn how to maximize the use of computer and among those seniors who use the computer, a handful only plays games like Simcity 4,

I think you have more chances finding someone of "a certain age" playing simcity than playing COD or GTA  8)

I'm 26. Which certainly puts me above the median age for this site, but far from the top. If the (admittedly limited) current poll results are a representative sample, I'm at the 68th percentile.

I'll put it to you this way, I have a son who is most likely a lot older than you are.  He's going on 33 later this year and I'm not much older than he is.  Yeah, I started young and never regretted it.

Results are pretty much as expected.  Younger-leaning of course, but there's still a good range.  City building games are timeless apparently.

There shouldn't be a "12 and under" category however.  You must be 13 to create an account I believe.  It's a federal law in the United States anyway.

Anyone can lie about their age online since there is really no way to verify ones age.

Holy crap.  :boggle:  You are a BS Math graduate? Amazing. :O  I am currently taking up the same course. Say, what future career options does this course have to offer? Although I have other plans to enter finance, trying to find another way of enjoying the degree wouldn't be bad.

It depends on the nature of the mathematics degree, it can be more skewed towards statistics, mechanics or pure. My degree is mainly in pure mathematics with a bit of dynamical systems and fluid mechanics thrown in. But with a mathematics degree you can easily apply for qualifications in engineering, physics, finance, meteorology and computing. Or even apply for jobs in these areas and receive on the spot training. For me though I see myself teaching, either in a secondary school or at a college.

But if you want to enter finance then I suggest a degree in mathematical finance since that covers a lot more applied mathematics and is less rigorous on theory.

I think one of the nice things about SimCity is that it attracts people of all ages. There are a lot of young people here, but also a lot of older people, and a lot of the important members here are actually old. It's not very often that you get teenagers spending time with 40, or 70, or 90 year olds, as peers. :)

Just a question, as far as I know it's not allowed to children under 13 have accounts on forums in the United States. But Simtropolis being registered in Canada, younger children who voted 1-12 in this poll would be excluded from the forum?

I see, teaching is indeed a very noble and professional career. I might ask help for my math assignments soon.  :D

That's true. I was thinking of taking up Mathematical Fiance but I'm not sure where. I think I would be very happy if I could meet NMUSpidey in Japan soon. For now, The University of Tokyo is my best choice.  :thumb:  Although I believe that mathematical finance would be a master's degree.

The server for Simtropolis is actually located in the US nowadays, so the site is subject to US laws. And it wouldn't make a difference on this issue if it were in Canada since I believe they have a similar law.

Furthermore, we do have an explicit policy that you must be 13 or older to be a member here and this IS enforced.

It's one of the things I like about it.    Our real world demographics (age, gender, nationality, ethnicity, etc.) are not really important here.

Decades ago, when I was a kid, we didn't have the option of nonchalantly chatting with people who lived in another city, much less another country or continent.  We might have had a snail mail pen pal from somewhere far away but that was about it.   Relatively speaking, we were very isolated but that was normal to us.

Young people today (I'll define that as anyone not old enough to be a grandparent) see the world differently than we do.  You are growing up, taking it for granted, that you can chat with people from various time zones.

It leads to a different perception of world.   Suddenly countries aren't random places on the globe; they are the homes of people you communicate with on a regular basis.   That will be a game changer.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis
