RTMT Needed Still After NAM32?

Hello,

OK, I wanted to use the RTMT Addon

I am also using the NAM 32 pre release version. (Yes, I know NAM 32 has been made stable now but at the time I downloaded it was the pre release version and I didn't installed the stable version after that... lazy here)

So my question is ... Is the RTMT still needed after installing NAM 32 ?

I needed some bus stops and subway stations which can sit at the street/road side without taking additional (1unit) space.  I have downloaded some custom bus stops from the STEX but thay have some texture probs... They don't blend well with my default Maxis street/road textures.

Thank you

BTW, I have a bit of luck in breaking the dead stuck population growth prob of mine... Will be coming up with an update soon.

In a word, yes.  But RTMT 360 has a prerequisite of 350, so you have to install both of them.  It is a hand job, and you have to be very careful.

As Nonny stated, v3.51 is the base set. v3.60 is just an add on and don't think it'll work correctly without the prereq install.

Here's the link for v3.51:

Is there a big difference between 3.50 and 3.60 ?

Yes.  There are stations for El Rail over Road and the SAM networks, new extended query types, station name displays in the underground views, and last but not least, there are important bug fixes in the v3.60 release.

As Nonny stated, v3.51 is the base set. v3.60 is just an add on and don't think it'll work correctly without the prereq install.

The base installation is ; it needs to be installed first.  RTMT v3.51 was a bugfix patch that was made obsolete by RTMT v3.60; RTMT v3.51 should not be installed.  Just install RTMT v3.50 and then RTMT v3.60 on top of it.  Don't worry about the obsolete capacity selections in RTMT v3.50; they're superseded by the capacities of RTMT v3.60.  For best results, choose the "high" capacity.

    OK Thank you everybody.

I later realized that RTMT is a total system of laying down roads, streets, transit stops etc...

I don't want to get in that atm.

    Thank you

I could be mistaken but I don't believe the RTMT requires the user to lay out networks any differently than before. The menu's are easy to use and self explanatory. There are separate icons for each bus stop that show the network that each stop will work on. I don't think its even possible to place a SAM street stop on a road or avenue.

For the sake of realism I place my bus stops based on a route but I don't believe any of my city busses actually follow a particular route even though quite a few of my Sims seem to be using the bus system to commute to and from jobs.

There's no additional route requirement for placing RTMT stops. Just place the appropriate stops on existing routes provided the routes are ones for which stops in the current stops exist. This can be very convenient at times.

The RTMT adds just the ability to place mass transit stops on the sides of the streets instead of having stupid stops the size of a house. It has nothing to do with the network itself, it just makes things more realistic when it comes to bus stops, subway stations, etc...

You don't lay down roads and streets with RTMT. Just stops. Only technically, as the stops use the same tiles as the traffic network, these are transit-enabled lots. The only time where this is of interest is when you lay down stops in front of buildings, particularly residential ones, which requires a modest amount of thought. In short, don't replace all road or street tiles in front of residential buildings (which mostly boils down to "don't put them in front of single tile wide residential house") and only do so for commercial ones if they also have access from the side or back. Larger buildings are no problem, except with several tiles long stops, where you proceed accordingly.

If you get a no-street zot associated with an RTMT stop, convert the lot to C$.  Tuck shops are always good in a residential neighbourhood.

    NOooo Please!!!! (sorry Moose)

While commercial lots won't display the no-job zot, this solution is not problem-free, as it causes another undesirable situation, ie unreachable jobs.

To get rid of the blocked lots problem, try the workarounds described in detail in the RTMT documentation (incl pics), like zoning (and growing) wider than 1-tile lots, or placing the RTMT stops at intersections, or parallel to lots.

Indeed. The only place where the C$ conversion works more than cosmetically is at intersections or if you have a road at the backside of the lot. For whatever reason, residential lots are only accessible from the side where the zoning arrow is. Commercial lots are accessible from all adjacent roads/streets.

But, you see, I don't much care if the jobs can't be reached considering the number is minimal.  I don't plan to rearrange blocks of property just to accommodate this bug.  This is a game, it is full of bugs and is not a production item.  Bug avoidance if possible, but no heroic measures over one house.  Of course, one could always dump a park in there, because parks don't seem to be reachable in any case.
