Finally finished and now time to get going!

Very cool hand drawing.

BTW, if you scan the drawing as "line art" you can clean it up and trace it with an illustration application.

"Whether it be the sweeping eagle in his flight, or the open apple-blossom, the toiling work-horse, the blithe swan, the branching oak, the winding stream at its base, the drifting clouds, over all the coursing sun, form ever follows function, and this is the law."

—Louis H. Sullivan, "The tall office building artistically considered." Lippincott's Magazine, March 1896.

Joe, that is one SEXY map! I would love to see a side-by-side comparison with an in-game pic.

Wow, 9988 very impressive maps you have drawn there! You must have some talent and creativity, more than what I have seen in a long time. Well done.

Weicher that is one cool topographical map you made. How'd you do it?

This is not a map of my own creation, It is not a map about a metro system and It is not imaginary. This is a map that I founded in one of my magazines (Muy Interesane, January 2009) about the scietific knowledge and his evolution. It is a nice interpretation and I wanted to share here in this topic. Its a 15 MB picture, I can't upload to any kind of picture sever, so this is a small version.

This is my first attempt to do a city map, unfortunately this city dies after the Blue Screen of Death.

There was a german and latinamerican neighborhoods, also an "educational" neighborhood with the streets named after remarkable physicist and chemists.

Not side-by-side, but close enough :)

So it's the story of a girl who had nothing to do and tested a game named Cities in Motion...and this is what came out of it!

helmshire.jpg

I've based the design on Joe90's own subway map, though I did alter some of the original graphics. It's the heavy-rail subway network of Helmshire, my custom map (squeezed in between two other of my custom regions), with a Greek and English turn..changes from my German maps. I tried to make it as soft and spaced-out as possible.

I know at least two of the lines need a merger. But the company operating the network doesn't really have the cash to buy trains, and line 5 needs double the capacity (at least between Bayside and Blaustein), while line 4 needs double less. Same with the much-used line 7 and the less-used like 6. ^__^

For these of you who own Cities in Motion, you might wish to download my region there - without the subway built : City page (just extract in your \My Documents\Cities In Motion\maps folder)

Loving your work Shadow Assassin. I like the Sydney inspired City Circle. However, is the green line really necessary, when you have the purple AND all the others?

Heh, I know. But I left it in on the rationale that the City Circle line could be running with special high-capacity trains (standing room mostly) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week... so... yeah.

Plus, none of the other lines do a complete clockwise loop starting from Market District then going via University.

Hmm, I thought you'd remove the Transfer to Arthurian Railways ^_^ sine its' pretty much the map. :P

I would LOVE to see a map of both the Underground and the AI together. Maybe along with the tram map. ^_^

@Yoshi : I love the city of Mytilene. Besides, I like to give too-used words their true meanings.. (really, Mytilene is a place I'd dock to any time! Lemnos is a pretty cute area, too. :P)

helmshire-1.jpg

Soo this is a revamped Helmshire map. Line 1 has been cut at the new Arena station (to prevent jamming of trains in the circle line, which at the rates my lines are used, and with so few trains available, causes so much unhappiness at a single breakdown). Line 4 was expanded to Trenton, way north, replacing an overcrowded bus line into this popular district and making the subway line somewhat more profitable. Line 8 stretched south to Jones Avenue to relieve the tram there; line 7 was similarly extended. In addition, line 2 has finally been put in service, with one branch taking over a tram line to the harbor, and another acting as a crescent line. Fact, as soon as I put it in service, line 1's use has been decreasing by half! Makes line 5 almost useless..might be replacing it with a tram line, though the only bridge to the island is AWFULLY and ALWAYS jammed...

Added P+R too.

sedonas-bahnrevamp.jpg

My iconic map, Joe9988 style! ^_^ An old branch of line 2 (former line 13a) and a tram shuttle, two new tram lines within the city center, a new S-Bahn shuttle and total rebuilding of the S1 along the 17th Avenue...some minor station adjustments too..and well a brand new posh style :P

Arthurian Railways (AI) is the inter-regional network as opposed to the commuter network shown in that map. AI only stop at Laingbourne, Scarle, Witanceaster Central, and Wendower.

I would LOVE to see a map of both the Underground and the AI together. Maybe along with the tram map. ^_^

And the bus map, and the street map... All will be revealed in good time ;)

I think I've gone crazy.

Hell, I learned a few new tricks in Illustrator that I didn't know before (like adding opacity masks).
