Pittsburgh has tons pf great independent pizzerias. Although I'm fairly certain that that is not something the region is known for. But I'll take a good gyro over pizza any day.

Pizza sounds good, I think I'll get one tonight.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

When I lived in Philly I became very picky about cheese steaks. Back in Pittsburgh, hoagie joints will have what they call a Philly steak on the menu but it's typically way off the mark. My dad is the same way. He went to school in Philly like I did, or rather I went to school there like he did.

What is a cheese steak?

A steak made from cheese cows.

HAHAHAH Most loyal?

More like most rowdy and violent, They are not even loyal to their team, they boo their own players!

I mean seriously who does that? You want loyal look at Saints fans, for years they went nowhere and people believed in them, even when it seemed like there wasn't much to live for when they lost everything.

Silly people, you're not supposed to post "greetings from" where you live. The whole "greetings from" thing is for when you are someplace out of the area you usually are found in. :P

And you Atlantians threw soda and trash at your players last year at the Wild Card game. You said something?

Here in Philly, we stayed loyal through crap like the 1993 World Series, the 1964 collapse from hell (black Friday, as we call it) and I personally sat at he top seat in the back corner on a 40 degree night to watch Ryan Howard strike out in the bottom of the ninth to lose and I stayed theough all that. We're obnoxious if

1. We have a good reason to.

2. We're loaded (I've never been)

3. Its a rivalry game.

If you want to see rowdy and violent see

A. Vancouver

B. Philadelphia Eagles (everyone else is ok)

C. Boston

D. Giants/Jets

Hahaha, I totally missed the pizza conversation after starting it!  Don't worry, I have your answer.

Pizza in Japan?  Mostly it's the same, you can still find tasty pepperoni pizzas here, but then, and not special, weirdo- pizzas, but popular, mainstream pizzas, you can find them topped with mayo, tuna, corn, potatoes, and other toppings that would strike any American as strange.  Mayo on pizza?  Seriously?  That's just ruining pizza, Japan.  RUINING IT!  Mayo is disgusting by itself!  And you put that on pizza?  GROSS!

As a side note, I would go to great lengths to eat a Chicago-style pizza.  Those are gooooooooooooooooooood.

Back on the pizza note... Larks, I find it interesting that you would say New York has "its own unique spin" on pizza. As far as I am concerned, New York pizza is just plain old pizza and what people call pizza in the rest of the country is crap. :P

I have a new favourite set of pizza toppings. Ham, cheese, pineapple, and bacon.

I eat simple pizza's: margherita, with mushrooms, spinach or something vegetarian. Being a vegetarian does limit your choices :P

A pizza topping that I always thought was strange: minced meat. Pizza bolognese, I simply don't and will never accept it :P A Japanese exchange student I knew once ordered an 'extreme' pizza on a school trip to France, it had half a kilo of minced meat on it. I thought it looked rather gross.

We have a local pizza franchise that's amazing. Great quality. We've been going there for ages. So much so that if we show up and our pizzas haven't been started yet (sometimes they're swamped) they move our order up. :D The quality is great, too.

Amen to that, Duke. In Gilbert, we have a some really great authentic NY Style pizza places, but my favorite by far would have to be Prima Pizza. I get pizza from there at least twice a week. We go there so often that the owner knows what we're going to order without asking.

You could say I've become a pizza snob of sorts. (I prefer the word 'connoisseur') I cannot stand Chicago Style pizza; it is simply wrong, and I prefer not to eat pizza from big chain restaurants like Pizza Hut. That being said, I'm also addicted, so I'll eat it anyway.

I'm a vegetarian too, but I only eat cheese pizza. Toppings are heresy. :P

I think you've got that a little backwards. Chicago pizza is the best, every place else is crap. :P

But we should probably leave it at that because I can't think of a topic more polarizing then pizza.

Bazing, astronelson.

I love Chicago pizza.  But I love just about any pizza, so long as it's not smothered in mayonnaise or topped with corn.  My favorite toppings include but are not limited to pepperoni, bacon, green peppers, tomatoes, black olives, mushrooms, and onions.
