5431  (oops forgot the last one)

That's cool, glad I caught it. Any others to look out for?

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

Part of me wanted to see the thread go a week without a post, but part of me also wanted to be the person to make that 1-week later post. Part of me also doubted that the thread would make it that long or that I'd remember, so I'm breaking it now.

Yes, this is kitty.

Just doesn't move like it used to, does it?

As for further easter egg labels, yes, there is at least one more to look out for. Make sure you spot it before the ship sinks.

Hey Phil , keeping it going .

Finally got to see some of my street today , that I didn't have to shovel . Checked my mail yesterday and the snow was knee deep . Fell once , but it's all good . The two foot of snow made a good cushion .

@NMUSpidey Hang in there  may be more yet to come , winter isn't over yet . Our local hardware supply dude told my neighbor that a foot of snow may be coming our way next weekend . He might just be trying to sell more pellets for those pellet stoves though . Personally I think winter might be about over , first day of spring is the 21st. of March . But we'll see , right .

It's a pretty strong El Niño year. This means much of the country has been having an unusually warm winter. It's 49 degrees out right now here in New York. We've had highs of 40 or better for the past five days and are forecast to have them for the entire next week.

After how brutal the last couple winters have been, I am totally okay with this.

Yeah, I missed out on those last few winters, although we did manage to get a record snowfall twice within a week of each other, a once-every-hundred-years occurance, apparently.  We'll be here for sure next winter, though.  I doubt El Nino will continue that far into the future.  (It's been up towards 50 the past few days here!)

I think the only people whom 'celebrate' it are those that live in towns that hold a groundhog event, otherwise I feel it's more something for kids to talk about in school.

Other than possibly making a trip to Punxsatawney, no, but that's not really a deciding factor. There are plenty of official holidays that don't meet this criterion. Know anyone who celebrates Columbus Day?

Well, in the city of Palos, located in the Andalusian province of Cádiz, it's where the journey started; and the Columbus day, the day where the expedition started and the day conmemorating the Pinzón Brothers are celebrated every year.

See you!

Rests of viking villages have been found in eastern Canada, if my memory doesn't betray me; and actually Colombus believed that America was the Eastern coast of Asia, in fact he only discovered islands in the Caribbean 'til the fourth travel, when he arrived to the mainland in Central America.

So... He didn't really discover it, but was the man that promoted the colonization in that new continent, which resulted in new civilizations and countries, discoveries and a big leap for human history (and destruction of ancient civilizations and diseases too, that's a fact) and made Spain the greatest empire in the world for lots of decades. But our country has always bad luck and look at us now... >.<

Well, here ends this small history lesson :D

Ah. Columbus Day in the US is the day he landed in Hispanola (October 12), not the day he left Spain. And because our government likes neat 3 day weekends, it's now only the day he landed in Hispanola if that date happens to fall on a Monday. Otherwise, it is the nearest Monday to that date.

I was referring that in Palos, are celebrated both the Colombus Day (October 12 too in Spain), the day he left Palos (August 3) and the Martín de Alonso Pinzón day (March 15). It's only a holiday in the cities related with the journey, for example, I live in Mallorca and we have other celebrations instead of Columbus day. And by the way, he left Spain later, in the Canary Islands, that werehis last scale before the long part of the journey.

I suppose if I had my druthers I would prefer it to be spring instead of winter but I don't particularly care. Warmer weather is nicer though. It was a nice day today in Pittsburgh which was convenient as I helped a friend move.
