Hey modders.

 

I really do hate that I can't drag an avenue into a suburb type area without having to use convoluted zoning placement to ensure I get no medium density construction. I fail to see why maxis did not include it with the game unless there's a DLC for it in the pipelines, however I would not have a clue where to start with creating this or even if its currently possible to add new assets to the game. If it is possible however I would love to see it sometime.

Could somebody please find a way to stop these random disasters?  I just get a city going and blammo... damage galore.  And maybe a money cheat.  ;-)

Dont know if you know this, but in sandbox mode you can alt+w to get money

Is there a way to make a money park like for sim city 4 I know sandbox has the money cheat but i dont the things sand box comes with like everything unlocked and maxed level also while playing sandbox I usually end up with huge negavtives like -40k and hour (I like making really massive bus systems to stop most road issues)

 

If it is a simple file change then can someone explain where to look

Dont expect this to happen on a non pirated version of sim city as this equals cheating, thus messing up the leaderboards etc. You could just start a sandbox region and press alt+W for an additional 100k simoleons. And in my opinion, with a moneypark you actually erase the challenge the non-sandbox mode offers, so im loosing the point here. But at the end its up to you but i dont believe maxis/ea would ever allow such a mod.

We can't fully upgrade all HQs in one city, without sandbox mode.

in my case, upgrading casino HQ and trade HQ is incompatible.

 

and for the level7 city hall, I need crazy 600 thousand population.

it is possible in only very few city.

 

nevertheless often I want fully upgrade HQ or city hall for surpassing limitations of the city concepts, beauty of the view... etc.

Not sure if this would be a mod or not, but the sound of the sirens nearly kills the game for me.  It is a constant nuisance.  In a city of 50,000 and one criminal, 12 police cars ride around with sirens blaring - maybe they're going to get donuts, but it drives me nuts.  

 

Anyone dug into the sound files yet?

You wont need a mod for this. They are coming out with an option to disable the random disasters, in the next update probably.

I agree, the medium avenues cost too much when planning a city.

Wouldn't it be a little pointless though? It'd basically be like making two, two lane low density roads, which you can already do.

What really needs to be done is let the AI cross the center divider on those avenues. Obviously the low density avenue would be out of the question, but medium and high density avenues should have this feature.

It's not pointless at all, a low density avenue would be upgradeable to a medium/high/streetcar avenue, you can't do that with two normal roads which take more place, harder to build and make intersections and such...

And medium density avenues cost too much when starting a new(non sandbox) city.

If you want homes on avenues and don't want them to turn into buildings, dezoning them stops them from building up.  You can do this with all the zones, it's almost like a "make historic" option from SC4 but through dezoning.

Simple fix. Go into setting after starting game. Go to audio and turn off effects, you won't hear sirens anymore or any other sound effects.

What would really useful is a a streetcar street. I like narrow streets in my city and I want my streetcars to run there.

Don't really want to turn off all of the sound effects....  just lower the sirens.  OR - better yet - somehow stop my city with 20000 from needing 10 police cars, 5 firetrucks and 5 ambulances to CONSTANTLY be responding to emergencies 24 hours a day.  What is this? Sin City?

 Would someone make this? It wouldn't exactly be considered a cheat because we'd still have to spend just as much money to get the new division and use what is unlocked by it.

It doesn't matter if it's a cheat or not, if Maxis allows modding then they allow cheating(as long as it's not circumventing any anti-cheat systems, and since this is a non competitive game there are no such systems in place)

 

I agree that there should be a mod that unlocks HQ & City hall upgrades, and there should be a balanced version where the requirements are just halved or the modules themselves cost 2x-3x more than the usual.

  1. Eventually can we have a mod to sort out the traffic mess?
  2. The emergency services should drive anywhere to get to there destination even if they have to drive on the other side of the road as in real life?
  3. Normal traffic should move out of the way for emergency vehicles too. This was done in SC4 why not this
  4. Another traffic request. British roads, i.e driving on the left. The correct side of the road........ lol
  5. Maybe slip roads so the traffic turning right does not have to stop for traffic lights? A give way?
  6. Subways????

Hello simtropolis modders.... after you guys manage to get in to the AI of the automata... can you please fix it. i have noticed how vehicles like going to the same place. such as having over 20 fire engines going to 1 fire >_< causing the rest of my city to burn to the ground which annoys me. and also if you can make automata prefer higher density roads... as thats a night mare for me. if you modders have not got as far as opening the AI files i really dont mind.... but i just know the AI is on a lot of peoples mind.

Modding is in its infancy at this point.  All of the stuff you've listed would have to be done by Maxis in a patch or as DLC.  Due to the online nature of the game,  I don't see how adding something like subways could ever be possible (but you never know).

    I'm not sure if it is possible at this stage but I'd love to see some way; any way at all, that custom buildings or props, functional or not, could be imported into the game or replace current game buildings through modified textures.
