Hello Simtropolis. So today I've trying to build a "Paris" themed city and make it look maximaly realistic as posible with parks and etc.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'm doing it in Sandbox mode so it's more like cheating.. So sorry if it's not fair... 

So as far as I see. New game has a very big potential with mods and BAT's this game gonna rock. It's just need some time and extensions like larger tile size and all that stuff. Maxis should realy cooperate with modders from here...

Why do people assume this game will be moddable?

 

If its online and since your economy affects the entire servers economy, I doubt they would allow any serious modding that changes the gameplay experience.

At best they would allow people to model new building models.

Because "Is built to be moddable" and the modding is the thing that can be balanced and not affect gameplay much

I haven't been able to play besides the small amount I played during the beta, but from that, I think the game is pretty fun. It's definitely different than SC4, but it is a reboot after all. New game; new experience. I like it.

Look, I agree with the complaints on tile size and the vast empty space, but man... I can tell this game has a lot of potential. Can't wait to mod this thing!

 

Given the seemingly huge amount of server-side content and processing in this SimCity, I fear that modding this game will be quite a difficult (if not impossible) task.

Anyway, more updates from my city. It's now up to 120,000 people! 

 

Cool little theater downtown.

 

 

I hope these buildings never get developed into something taller. I love the walk-ups just outside downtown.

I am one that got the deluxe pack a year ago and still can not play the game.

As soon as i do, ill post pictures too.

For now, ill have to watch those of you that can play.

Seems the servers are working for me now, been steadily playing on Europe East 1.

I've been playing for the past day and fiddling with new cities. My latest one is my favorite though! It started off as a dirty mining town, and is slowly transforming into a commercial center of the region.

 

Here's a day time overview.

 

 

Here's a shot of the old industrial area of the city, where it all began. The ore mines are about to run out. The entire area is heavily polluted and will go to low and medium income housing when the time comes.

 

 

Now for some night time pics! This was taken from the roof of a low income highrise across the river. That area is devoted to a mixture of oil drilling and utilities, with a few homes and businesses thrown in.

 

 

Main street at night! Full moon is out.

 

 

And finally, a skylin view of the downtown area. You can likely guess what that huge thing is in the background.

These two are my first cities with the full game. Cause they are separated by a river, they end up looking like one contiguous city in some shots.

Spent all night and even since uploading this my city has completely changed except for one thing,

Picture spam.  These were probably all taken using the warmer filter as I pretty much play the game using that filter.  Not so keen on the saturated colours of the default scheme. 

 

Took this early on before I found the hide UI option.  I include it mainly for the 6AM moving van which got a smile from me when I noticed it. 

 

 

I love the whole tilt shift effect.  I used to have fun taking pics of my Sims 2 hoods and applying the same effect using PSP so I am in my element here. 

 

I really like this picture for some reason.  (Yes the bridge is wonky.  Blame the freehand tool and my not so steady hands.)

 

 

I seem to take a lot of pictures of fires.  Not sure what that says about me but I like this view point of the city and the mixture of densities in there.
