I had the same issue which resolved itself after a game restart. No mods active. -
Unable to download from Steam Workshop
Radioactive Chicken replied to titaniom's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Regardless of where you buy the game you need Steam to install and run the game so anyone saying that they can't use Steam to access the workshop either need to contact Steam to troubleshoot the issue or buy a legit version of the game. $0.02 -
For The Love Of Chirper
Radioactive Chicken replied to BlitzPackage's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
I don't mind Chirper too much at the moment it does help you notice some issues cropping up while getting to grips with the game. There are little references made with the hashtags used which is kinda interesting, it will probably get old soon but it's fine for now although some of the flavour chirps repeat too quickly. My only quibble is that the messages don't time out on their own like how they grey out in SC4. It's kind of a pain scrolling through and deleting each one if you've left them for a few minutes. -
I'm not sure why this is but when I use the latest version of Parklets (LowRes as I use LowRes Akar) it causes a "SimCity has crashed" message when I save and close the game. As far as I can see it doesn't affect my save file and I can play the game normally but of course I'd rather not have any error messages at all. If I use version 1.0 I do not get this message. I am using Win7.

Show of hands - Pre-ordered and still around?
Radioactive Chicken replied to leptooners's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
You need an option on the last question for those of us that bought the physical version only. I had to put something so I ticked number three but I only bought one copy. Pretty much this. I enjoy the game a lot. Feel I got my moneys worth but I've got to the stage where I want to be more creative and the tools are just not there. I'm not interested in the DLC. The amusement park is probably the most interesting looking one but not at that price. -
Simcity 2013 or simcity 4
Radioactive Chicken replied to Snorp09's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Pretty much this, in every thread. It gets tedious quick. But for what it's worth I think SimCity2013 is fun but it does not have the long term appeal of SC4. Maybe they can change that around but I doubt it tbh. They don't necessarily need or want to make a product with a 10 year life span. If we enjoy the game for a year or two they've got their money and they probably think we got our money's worth so that's good enough for them. It's only because we personally wanted it to be something that would be good enough to replace SC4 but with upgraded graphics that it's come unstuck for game veterans. Simcity has two different levels of gameplay. There the first stage when you get to grips with the simulation, the game and try to use those mechanics to create the city that you want but after a while you want to move on and be more creative with the game and that's where it comes unstuck for me. We want something that we can pour all our time into and tweak and carve into our own creation and with SC13 you just can't. Not really. You just don't have the same level of control. It's all about working with the land as it comes which is interesting in one way, making it work for you but then if you want to recreate something in particular you are out of luck. Our creativity is stifled. Creativity is what takes the game from something to beat to something we want to keep as a hobby. SC2013 is the former SC4 the latter.- 74 Replies

Disable disasters is coming (confirmed)
Radioactive Chicken replied to Titan's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
^ This. Zombies clearly out whole sections of the neighbour is kinda funny the first time. The third time.. not so much. I never used disasters that much anyway and they are also kind pointless now. Because of the lack of ability to save the city, obliterate it and then reload the previous save the disasters have been watered down to make them have less devastating impact on our city planning but doing so has taken all of the fun out of them. In previous games it was fun completely destroying the city for a minute, feeling a bit guilty and then reloading. It's cathartic. The SC disasters are a bit "meh" in comparison. -
What's the hardest level you've done in a video game?
Radioactive Chicken replied to Mr Saturn64's topic in Gaming Talk
The Veni Vidi Vici trinket in the game VVVVVV. Took two gaming sessions to finally do it. The most annoying thing is when you make it through the whole course only to get twitchy and hit a spike right near the bottom over and over again. (>_<) Second is one that I haven't completed yet. The Hell level in Cave Story+ for the proper ending. You have to navigate a long and tricky level to reach the boss which is pretty hard to do without significant damage and then of course if you die during the boss fight you have to walk your way through it all again. I've managed to get all the way to the boss but just can't quite beat him. All the videos I've watched for this level everyone is using a different weapon to the one I collected on this run through so I think I've possibly made it harder than I needed to. I don't want to play through the game again to get the better weapon and unlike most games I play I only have so much patience for repeating this level in one session so it's been sitting on my unfinished games list taunting me. -
Couldn't decide which free game to redeem
Radioactive Chicken replied to a topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I thought it was a bit odd that it was heavy on the shooters side. I would have thought the older Sims 3 expansions might have featured in there seeing as we are obviously simulation fans but price isn't everything. I got nearly 50 hours of gameplay out of Plants vs Zombies. SC4 probably a lot, lot more and I paid around £20 for that way back when. I picked Mass Effect 3 as my freebie and that is supposed to take around 21 hours or so for the main story which is a decent enough chunk of time for me. It's just a PR move sure but the selection of games are much better than them throwing us a money off coupon for the Origin store which would probably just bring a game in line with prices at other well known online outlets. ie: basically useless. -
Free Game. Which one should I get?
Radioactive Chicken replied to MOWS 4 U's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I love Plants vs Zombies. (There's a reason my avatar is a Zombitar. ) Lots of replay value with the achievements encouraging you to approach the levels again in a different way to how you approached them the first time. -
would you be willing to spend $200 on a future COMPLETE Simcity?
Radioactive Chicken replied to elektrichead22's topic in Gaming Talk
No. The reason that expansion packs and DLC sell so well is that you can play the game to death for 6 months and then an expansion comes along and you can explore the new content and enjoy the game all over again for another few months or so. The price doesn't make such a big impact on your wallet and it's not as risky to buy into. It's a big ask to get people to pay premium prices up front. The fact that so many people object to the SC13 deluxe £60 price tag demonstrates that. (As I've mentioned before I bought the limited edition disk version using gift vouchers as part payment to lessen the risk to my "investment") Plus at £60 we really should already be getting a bug free game or as best as can be achieved after proper testing. So many big titles come out now with big promises and just as many bugs. I'd laugh in their face if they expected me to believe that their £200 product was bug free. Also the practicalities of it. The game would be in development forever and probably overhyped by the time that it came out causing the inevitable back lash from people who built up their expectations too much. Lots of the more impatient gamers would complain about the gameplay without properly exploring all of the extra features included from the added development time. Plus there is a creative element to it. Although I'm sure a lot of games have the DLC/expansion planned out before the base game release sometimes it's only after players get their hands on the game that they start expressing ideas for content or features that seem to fit in with the way that they want to play. These can only be added if there is time to see how players are playing the game and reading their feedback. No game can be 100% perfected at the beginning. -
What did (will) you pick as your free game?
Radioactive Chicken replied to Dirktator's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I went for Mass Effect 3 in the end. I get motion sickness from FPS games but third person is normally ok. Read a few opinions and it might give me trouble unless I fiddle with the settings but I don't mind giving it a go for free. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet as I left it to download overnight. -
Plants vs Zombies is a good tower defence game so while it perhaps looks disappointing next to the more expensive titles if you feel you need to get your moneys worth I got a lot of game play out of my copy. I really wouldn't knock it if you find that it's one of the only choices you are left with. I wasn't expecting there to be much there for me because I don't play a lot of EA games but at least they didn't just stick up Bejeweled 1, 2 and 3 and left it at that. It's probably either NFS or Mass Effect 3 for me. Leaning towards ME3.

Drag the road over as mentioned but then use the road upgrade tool on the bridge and you can change the bridge style depending on the road type used. There are only a couple of variations but it's better than nothing. The suspension bridge is for the highest density avenue.
