Why do people assume this game will be moddable? If its online and since your economy affects the entire servers economy, I doubt they would allow any serious modding that changes the gameplay experience. At best they would allow people to model new building models.

  i just don't buy it. either their optimization is that horrible, or they are just straight up lying. a modern gaming machine should be able to run a simulation of that caliber without a hitch.

Since this simcity shall be online, they want some kind of consistency so I doubt they would allow a performance slider even if they could. That's the problem with online, performance must be limited by the weakest link regardless of your own computers performance.

Not the point. I too believe individual sims and TRUE economy is the way forward. The game is about 'feeling' like a mayor and see decisions affect sims. If we wanted a proper simulation, why have nice buildings at all? Why not place grey boxes instead? What there needs to be is a balance between form and functionality. Unfortunately they have leaned towards the form more than I would've liked.
