That's amazing indeed! So much variety, and the overall look is absolutely realistic as far as I can tell. :golly:

The houses aren't something I'd use in Perseus but they are truly wonderful and the detail is impressive. Wonderful work!

You don't need to wish that, you're already an incredible batter, we can confirm that just seeing your models, amazing textures and very well modeled. The Igreja da Penha you're doing is also one of the most beautiful models I've ever seen, sincerely. People who know how cities are in Latin America know how accurate and realistic your models look.
In this last preview, looks like it will be a 2x1. Or 3x1?

Looking good!  Let me throw an Idea at you... To take full advantage of the variety possibilities.... what if you rendered the store fronts separately.  You could mod them as props and put them in a prop family.   Since they are all the same width, all you would need to do is lot them so they line up with the rest of the building (which you could also combine into prop families) and you could make a few lots that would grow in random combinations (for example, if you just used the 6 store fronts you have shown, combined with the 6 buildings you would have 36 total combination possibilities!)  :D

I'd be happy to help on the lotting/modding end if you would like to take something like this on.
    :)

In fact, those storefronts could work very well over other buildings, even higher in prominence (I'm thinking in Le Corbusier-styled  3-4 storey 'placa' buildings aside high rises)

Torres de Carlos Antúnez, a local example of a building which could match those storefronts (google maps link)

    *snip*

Absolutely!!!  Maxis did a great job with their storefront prop family... it's really an under-appreciated trick for compounding variety. More storefronts in this vein will be greatly appreciated by lotters everywhere :)

Thank you very much for the kind words, JP Schriefer, they mean a lot! Nah, those houses are all individual props to be used in 1x2 or 1x3 lots (or bigger ones, hehe). Thanks for coming around and make sure to come back!

Well, your idea seems great and other have agreed on it. Someone suggested this to me sometime ago and I really didn't thought it through and just discarded the idea, but now I'm going to give some real thought. At first  see the problem of my buildings varying greatly in terms of height (that's intentional, simulating measure-less building that are quite common in poor regions), but I will see what I can do. SimCoug, can you direct me to where can I get some prop family numbers? I would greatly aprreciate your help in this endeavour. I will do some testing this week and I will come back to report my results. Thank you very much for the great suggestion!

Warmed? Oh yeah, I start sweating already! See? That's why I only have a towel on.

Btw, It's clearly noticable how you used the same roof tiles pattern for the first and the third building from the left.

Hahahahaha. Well, that's bound to happen, I have over 80 house models and I'm reaching 12 commercial models, so there's a lot of repetition there and I really don't mind it. Thank you very much, Toothless Stitch, keep sweating when coming here!

As for varying heights - you could create a prop family for each height (store fronts and buildings)... that way you could just match up the right store front to the right building height.
You can get a prop family range over at SC4D, but for testing purposes feel free to use some of my numbers in the mean time:

    5f85c270
    5f85c271
    5f85c272
    5f85c273
    5f85c274
    5f85c275
    5f85c276
    5f85c277
    5f85c278
    5f85c279

(I blocked these numbers out on my list, so feel free to use them as you wish)

Hey there, SimCoug. I've been conducting a few tests this week and so far the results are not positive. The façade props and back props don't fit entirelly well. I will see what I can tweak in them so they can fit nicely. If I can't do it, however, I will have to abandon the idea. But thank you very much for the help and keep rooting for me so that I can figure this out!

Hey there! I've got some good and bad news,

I've tried, in the past weeks, to make the prop families system to work with my buildings but I couldn't. The issue is that the styles that I've represented are far too heterogeneous, with some being far too taller than others, and some having details in their façade that extrude into the sidewalk. Of course I could remodel my buildings to make them fit, that is indeed possible, but it would require far too much effort from my part (redoing them and testing if they fit nicely). I hope you guys forgive me and pardon me, but I simply don't have that much time yet to that kind of overhaul of what I already did, sorry :(

The good news is that I've been able to start tackling some medium wealth low density houses. I've also done some other stuff this week that I will be showcasing later. I hope you guys enjoy it!

    Yesyesyesyesyesyes!!!! :ohyes:

I can't wait to have these. If there was one thing missing from the game was this style of suburban little houses finally we will be able to make realistic latin american suburbs.

    Keep up the excellent work!

Here in Mexico people even use glass bottle shards in the outside walls to serve as barbed wire. Go figure!
