I will try and get some photos to post. I won't have any shots of the forest itself though if that's what you were interested in, we never really ventured into it.

There are lots of forest shots from MNR. What I'd like to see is a drowned rat or two.

I'm back again and I may actually stick this time as I've caught the Sim City bug and will be starting a journal within the next few days. Though I doubt terribly many will remember me.

Biggest reason I was away was that I was not playing Sim City much and was hooked on a site pertaining to another interest of mine.

Well I stopped by for a visit today, haven't been here in a few years...been thinking about getting back into SC4 but I switched to a Mac last year. Hopefully I'll hang around again.

Yes, on Linux Mint.

The thing about wine is that it is not a windows emulator. It is a kernel module that simply intercepts windows calls and remakes them as native. If you are familiar with the on-the-fly translation of the p-code from .NET applications, it runs the same. Most of the code executes normally and the system calls are fixed as encountered. The only requirement is the x86 processor decor.

The latest beta, wine 1.4-rc2, runs fine for me. There is a problem with gmax however. This is slowly getting better.

The basic syntax is:

wine <pathname of program> <program options>

You need to install your program by opening the program's installer with the wine command. On my system this can be done with a right click and choosing the wine windows program loader. If you don't get a shortcut to the installed program then use the syntax above. It will use your default wine prefix (<user>/.wine).

FYI, here is my script to run SC4

The two date commands is so I know how long it was up if it crashes.
