I still am impressed how you can ferret out the details of a week from so long ago. Impressive detective work.

Hi, SimCoug. eppisgood's recreations were really well done.

Hi, IL. Glad you're enjoying the Time Machine reports.

Hi, Schulmanator. Glad you continue to be impressed.

    _____________________________________________________________________________________________________

We're in the Time Machine again, with the dials set for April 2004.

    1 April 2004

Digby is still number one. As you know from previous updates there are no further images remaining, so enjoy a planning image from Stratburg

City of Edmonton, London and Kenora are in.

    benstoptentm20040401.jpg

     8 April 2004

Congratulations to Crystal Junction on hitting number one. There are no images left in that CJ, so here's another transit view from City of Edmonton.

Kunimara and Region of Tempest Lake are in.

    benstoptentm20040408.jpg

[Caveat: until early in 2005, many CJs were lost in the big purge, so some that you may remember from 2004 will be missing].

Enjoy, and happy 10th anniversary, Simtropolis & SC4.

Hi, packersfan. All three of those CJs will continue to be present in 2004 - they really were 'grandaddy' CJs.

Hi, SimCoug. Actually if you go back and look on the previous page the Digby background has some editing. Some of it is obvious, like the text boxes, but some of it very subtle - check the ferry terminal.

Hi, Schulmanator. That is a fantastic-looking time machine.

Hi, crazychickensc12. Great to see you enjoying the thread. You'll have to wait until the Time Machine travels to 2005/2006 for that - but you can bet it will be good.

We're in the Time Machine again, with the dials set for late April 2004.

    15 April 2004

Kenora jumps up to number one. There are no images left from jcab, so enjoy this bonus one from City of Edmonton

Lux City, Gooseville and Panamal Canal are in.

    benstoptentm20040415.jpg

     22 April 2004

Crystal Junction is back at number one. The background image is from new entry Citta of Angelos.

San Diego and Toronto are also in.

    benstoptentm20040422.jpg

[Caveat: until early in 2005, many CJs were lost in the big purge, so some that you may remember from 2004 will be missing].

Enjoy, and happy 10th anniversary, Simtropolis & SC4.

Hi, SimCoug. Hey, what are you saying about vanilla!? I think sometimes you're right... maybe one of the issues is that so far a couple of the few CJs from 2004 that have lots of images left are ones like City of Edmonton and San Diego, so they are over-represented. Just wait until 2005 gets going.

April turning into May for the Time Machine this week...

    29 April 2004

Digby holds on at number one. The bonus image is from San Diego

Binsur and New York are in.

    benstoptentm20040429.jpg

    6 May 2004

Digby makes it a 3-peat. The background image is from River Basin, which returns.

City of Edmonton and Gooseville are also in.

    benstoptentm20040506.jpg

[Caveat: until early in 2005, many CJs were lost in the big purge, so some that you may remember from 2004 will be missing].

Actually, when built right, vanilla region pics can stand toe to toe with custom content regions with all the bells and whistles.

I have actually thought about trying to build a vanilla region just for old times sake, especially with everything I know now.  I think it would really test my creativity.  Maybe someday.  Until then, keep these good (old) times rollin'.

Hi, SimCoug. It would be interesting to see what you do with vanilla, although I think the crowd would be most displeased if it meant fewer New SorGun updates.

Hi, Schulmanator. Ready for another trip?

More time travel to May 2004 via the Time Machine...

    13 May 2004

The Human Body is in at number one. The bonus image is from San Francisco, which is back in.

    Kunimura is also in.

    benstoptentm20040513.jpg

     20 May 2004

Crystal Junction is back at the top. The background image is from The Ragged Edge, which returns. This CJ was a big influence for me - a complex story with multiple plots involving mayors and their secret (and not so secret) ambitions. I loved every minute of it.

Golden Coast and San Diego are also in.

    benstoptentm20040520.jpg

[Caveat: until early in 2005, many CJs were lost in the big purge, so some that you may remember from 2004 will be missing].

Enjoy, and happy 10th anniversary, Simtropolis & SC4.

These trips back into Simtropolis's past have been very interesting, Ben. I remember some of those CJs (having been somewhat active myself back in those days), and even by our present standards, they were pretty amazing.

One question: how close to the present are you going to get with these updates - all the way to the beginning of the original BTT? If so, I look forward to seeing how my early updates of Nyhaven did (with a certain amount of vanity, I suppose :P) in the rankings.

Can't wait to see the next couple of weeks' worth of updates!

Hi, woodb3kmaster. My plan is indeed to go all the way up to the start of BTT (Dec 2009). I am looking forward to seeing your CJ make its real debut!

Hi, Schulmanator. You might be able to convince to run those numbers for a retrospective annual top 100, although this first year may just be a top 50.

    _____________________________________________________________________________________________________

The BTT Time Machine makes another trip to 2004.

    27 May 2004

Digby hops back to the top spot. The bonus image is from Cape May, NJ. Interestingly, Jetty Jockey continues his love of Cape May with his CJ in the new section.

City of Edmonton, River Basin and Buffalo Region are also in.

    benstoptentm20040527.jpg

     3 June 2004

Digby holds on to the number one spot. The background image is from River basin, a former number one.

Turry Metro Region and Natures Fury are in.

    benstoptentm20040603.jpg

[Caveat: until early in 2005, many CJs were lost in the big purge, so some that you may remember from 2004 will be missing].

Hi, packersfan. I don't remember your first two, but the last one definitely rings a bell. I've got about 5 and a half years of TM updates to go, so you'll have to stay tuned to see if any of them make it.

The BTT Time Machine is back in action.

    10 June 2004

Crystal Junction is back at number one. The bonus image is from Binsur, which is back in.

    Also in is Norwich.

    benstoptentm20040610.jpg

     17 June 2004

Nexis of Genesis reaches the top of the chart. The transit map image is from Norwich.

Turry Metro Region and The Ragged Edge are in.

    benstoptentm20040617.jpg

[Caveat: until early in 2005, many CJs were lost in the big purge, so some that you may remember from 2004 will be missing].

Are you going to do a Top 100 for each Time Machine year too? That'd be kind of cool. :D

Hi, Schulmanator. Sure, I'll be doing some year-end specials for the Time Machine.

Hi, Fox. Yeah, a great name for a great CJ. Sadly no pictures left.

Hi, Shadow Assassin. So dramatic, you old thing you! Thanks for stopping by, and congrats on your Trixie.

Hi, SimCoug. It takes some diligence, but I've been successful so far, and as I get closer to the current time, pictures are more plentiful.

Hi, sim_link. Thanks! It's been a lot of fun for me to go back, too.
