Dear god...we used to think those looked good.

Some of them actually were good and most of all, these had the first ideas of unique CJ's..... ;)

Hi, mrbisonm. Really great to see you comment here. It has been a lot of fun to go back and see how the older CJs did for BTT. I am looking forward to seeing what new things you have to show us in the fall!

Hi, InvaderNat. They did look good. Imagine what you would create now if you didn't have 9 extra years of custom content to play around with.

Hi, stocktons_pimp. Old school, and good school!

Hi, mrbisonm2. All the way back then you can see the ideas for story CJs, eye-candy CJs, participation CJs, realistic growth CJs, massive cities CJs. 'Standing on the shoulders of giants...'

    Hi, Schulmanator. I second that.

    Hi, TekindusT. :)

Hi, mrbisonm3. Three responses from a legend in one reply session - thanks!

    Hi, Wraner. Yup.

Hi, SimCoug. I am always amazed at the talent in this community.

There is enough data to provide a weekly +10 as well. This week's Time Machine +10 contains one of my all-time favorite CJ names - Alien Love Secret.

    6 January 2005

Congratulations to Sacramento which is the first number one for the year.

Sculpting Columbia River, Crystal Junction, Chicago, Arville and Geb are in.

Hi, SimCoug. It is a pity about Digby. Not sure what your comment meant - on 6 Jan 05 Sacramento was #1 and the image is from there (Digby was #2 that week). On 13 Jan 05 Digby was #1 (and the image is from the #7 CJ, Acorn Creek).

That is a nice image of the cemetery.

Regarding last week, I think I was looking at the first image where Digby was #2 and I noticed that you wrote under it that Digby had the top spot - but obviously you were referring to the second image (13 jan 05), where he did in fact have the top spot.   :boggle:

I should just pay closer attention :)

It's funny (yet totally believable) that despite a relatively short life nearly 10 years ago, Digby would still set the standard by which many CJs are judged.  And it's not even as though it's competing against a bunch of slackers!

Hi, sargeantcm. Digby was the CJ that showed people that they could strive for more realism by taking things slowly, using the landscape tools in a refined way, and by adding amusing and realistic anecdotes - a forerunner of the hyper-real and story CJ types. A CJ before that, Paletexan's Carthage, set the ground work for a lot of what was possible in Digby. I'm always blown away by the creativity in this community, which only comes from an amazing commitment to the game.

Hi, SimCoug. It's true that SCR was a dominant force in 2005, but it wasn't number one every week, although you'll have to wait until next time to see which CJ knocks it off the top spot.

Wow this is a great look back on this history of ST CJ's. AVR is probably my number 1 favorite CJ of all time. Absolutely everything was done with great finesse and the one region picture that Darmok compiled from like zoom 3 or 4 was HUGE and amazing. Jeronij with SCR and Simtropia was a huge player in establising this game that we are still playing today. Nexis was another huge hitter because of all the custom lots that mrbisonm had been working with it was a real revolution to the game. Great trip down memory lane can't wait to see 06
