I've got to say that this CJ has gotten me back into the game. . . so well thought out and so beautiful. Unfortunately, I don't have the patience or time to take on such a huge project, but I have found your cities very inspiring and have directly influenced my renewed interest in this game.

Very interesting stuff!  I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with all of it!

Oddly enough, that's got to be the prettiest strip mine I've ever seen.  Aren't they supposed to be ugly?  You have no talent for ugly.  3.gif

Sorchin,

just on my way out checking out Macedon. How's the shoulder?

The excavator site is nice. I like the idea of the second one. The concrete floor is also a good point, although a bit too clean, maybe a bit darker grey would suit better.

Have a great weekend.

Nik-Nik

Hi Steve,

I really like the pit with the tered sectors, I agree with Berhhard, the teraces gives it a more realistic look.

DANGER  - ENTERING NITPICKING AREA!

As for your texture, in itself it is good looking, but one of the big problem with those kind of lots is to avoid the "tile" effect, and used on such a big setup I can't help but to see the tiling, it doesn't look loke it belong in that area, with the brownish cliffs, the dirt roads, perhaps a color that blends more with the surrounding area...

EXITING NITPICKING AREA ---

Ok 'nuf with the ranting,  on the other hand, that flora mod of yours! WOW! I just can't wait to see those in action! I even think that the two top ones in your last pic, especially the first one just below the ploppable water, would be great looking in that pit of yours!!! Less regular an "neat" looking than your grey texture! I'm really blown away! This is GREAT batting my friend! 3.gif

And how's your health BTW?

Take care!

John

Great use of SOMMY's mining monsters... I always wanted to use them, but never got around to finding a chance to, or a place. You've used them well, congrats.

Congrats on almost getting your flora mod finished, I look forward to seeing it uploaded when it is finished.

    Owenluby: Thanks mate.

Kwakelaar: Thank you Gjermund. Having the BSC Team helping has certainly made my life easier with the BAT.2.gif

jaquilina: Thanks a bunch my good friend. It's been quite an experience over the last week. I have had fun and am learning so much..

patriots_1228. No problem. I'm glad I could help. I can't wait to see it in your new cj..

smack: Hello and welcome to simtropolis. I'm glad that you have taken an interest in the game again. It is a game that is evolving all the time..

zelgadis: LOL. I'll attempt to "ugly it up" for you..4.gif

Nik-nik: Thanks mate. I'm attempting to play around with some flora textures I'm working on. I'm going to place them in random areas. Hopfully that will dirty it up a bit2.gif

Silur: Thanks and welcome to simtropolis. Nice to see you..The shoulder is getting better thanks

patriots_1228: Yes my vanity got the best of me I guess43.gif Thanks very much.. They are a great goup to work with. Very helpful..

asturianu: Thank you my friend. I'm having help reworking the textures. My texturing skills need improvement (I'll say no more)43.gif

Darmok: Thanks for all your comments my friend. See below. I'm incorporating some new flora into the area. The only way to really make that area look realistic id to BAT and enitire scene which would take an awefly long time to do it right. I still have some texturing issues with the flora but I'm getting help with that as I wwrite this. Not sure on a realease date yet but hopefully by the end of this week.. Thanks for all your comments John... My arm is doing better thanks..

Fox: Thanks as always Fox. I have waited to use the bucket wheels for a long time. I figured this was the best place to try them out.. Thanks again..

Update 43: Finishing up the Pit. Dedicated to zelgadis

Time to finish up the pit area. I'll still have flora to add.  I will do that as soon as I have my set properly complete.

Lets terraform the top area of the pit

    mp1ym4.jpg

Lets add another mine plus a rail line:

    mp2se9.jpg

Now the rail line which will go through the hillside:

    mp3ra8.jpg

Lets complete the roads and add some more construction areas: Notice how the coal is being transferred from one level to the next.

I don't know if this is done in RL but it looks cool9.gif.

    mp4ai9.jpg

Lets start adding a proper base texture:

    mp5te3.jpg

    Now for the wall texture:

    mp6vt1.jpg

Lets add a piping network ( I haven't figured out where its going to start and finish, but I'll figure it out9.gif

    mp7pr3.jpg

Now a rather big mosiac. Just click on the thumbnail. When this is done enlarge it again to get the real size of it..

The first one is what it did look like:

    mosaicpitlm8.th.jpg

But I changed the texture to look like this:

    mosaicpit2jl2.th.jpg

As far as the much talked about flora is concerned. This is what I have been working on. It still has work to do. Below are a couple of pics alongside Goldivas flora and cycledoggs new rock textures. It's obviously overdone but I did this for effect:

    floratesting1nj4.jpg

    floratesting2gw8.jpg

Enjoy and have a great day everyone

Nice looking pit!!! And not to mention the breath-taking view of the wetlands. Well, it is not actually overdone, because they look so realistic! It looks like the swamp near my childhood home, the rocks, the underwater plants and the dead trees. 9.gif Wow!

    Keep it up! 44.gif

OMG!! The flora is freakin' awesome!!

    *cools down*

Sorry, I went a little overboard with the awesomeness of it. Anyway, I can't wait until you release your flora on the STEX because I want to experiment with them and the ploppable water in my CJ.

Don't worry, I didn't forget about your awesome mine either. It looks great with the texture changes and all, but I do have one question: Are there no corner pieces for the dirt track?

I look forward to more, and good luck with finishing that flora, as I and many others will greatly appreciate it and use it!

crazychickensc12: Thanks my friend.. I have one freightyard outside of the pit area plus I'll most likely put another one in as well.. Thanks agian..

salut221: Hey mate. Thank you very much. Yes as soon as I have tested and checked and rechecked to make sure it's as good as I can get it. I'll upload it. Probably within the week.. take care..4.gif

zelgadis: Well I guess I could show some of my very first pics I have when I first started.. Oh wait. I threw them out because they made me sick each time I looked at them.. LOL. Take care my friend..25.gif

Yoman3. Thank you mate. Yeah the cliff would certainly put a damper on production..2.gif

Alfred_Jones. Thanks alot. I ues dump trucks as well. So I'm covered..44.gif

raul39. Hey man.. No worries reply whenever you can and thank you for your comments...

Menotyou: Hello and welcome to my cj. I appreciate your comment...4.gif

Nik-nik. Thanks my friend. Making new textures can either work out nicely or poorly. I'm glad this time it was the former..Take care for now...

terrymunweihao: Thank you and welcome to my cj.. I appreciate the compliment...

aleking: Hey Alek I appreciate it mate.. take care...

jacqulina: Thanks as always jacky. My arm is doing better thanks for asking and thanks for the encouraging words my good friend...9.gif

cityhawk: Thank you very much for your awsome comments mate. The flora is going slower than I thought but it will be released very soon. (should be within a week). Whats taking so long is It's completely different from anything I have done before. I have had alot help though from many people. It's nearly done I promise9.gif.. concerning the corner dirt piece. Nah there isn't anything that looks the same. I would have to make my own texture but I just don't have the time at the moment..5.gif

asturianu: Hey amigo thanks for your comments. The flora should be ready soon.. I am redoing them at the moment but it's much easier now that I know what I'm doing..44.gif

[B] Update 44 Housing, train station and a raised park are created: Dedicated to Yoman3

    macedonasorchincj2wx.gif

Today I will concentrate on developing a small residential area near the Steel Plant, a train station and a raised park to give my sims some

relaxation time away from the hard work they do at either the plant of the mine pit:

Lets find an area for this..

    resparktrain1xh4.jpg

    Lets lay down the streets:

    resparktrain2nk3.jpg

    Time to zone an area:

    resparktrain3zq3.jpg

Lets terraform the area planned for a train station:

    resparktrain4fe3.jpg

    Time to add the station:

    resparktrain5wr2.jpg

    Lets add Deadwoods' raised park:

    resparktrain6hi2.jpg

    continue:

    resparktrain7dv5.jpg

continue more, notice the housing has developed as well..

    resparktrain8xx1.jpg

it's getting ever closer to completion:

    resparktrain9lf7.jpg

    Lets add the parking:

    resparktrain10kt0.jpg

Time to terraform the other side of the station:

    resparktrain11un9.jpg

    Lets complete it:

    resparktrain12av1.jpg

Lets see what has been completed via a mosaic. Just click on the thumbnail, once the pic shows, click it again to get the full size picture:

    mosaicdaykg2.th.jpg

Now a night mosaic of the same area:

    mosaicnightae7.th.jpg

    That's it for today...

Enjoy and have a great day..

    God bless.....

Great eyecandy, though this page is taking nearly forever to load, on account of your pics being around 500-600kb each. Is there any way you can drop the file size of your pics?

Otherwise, brilliant concepts, ideas, and your mining area's simply delightfully sexy. 3.gif
