That's right  T Wrecks :P If I have time tonight I'll be looking into exporting chase.

Also, Darknono, Aon tower has been something I wanted to make; it's one of my all time favorite buildings, but you did such a freaking amazing job on it, I couldn't care less that I wasn't the on to do it. Seriously, you did a phenomenal  job.

Glad to heard about the Chase :) I want this building in my game ;)

And thanks for the compliment :) . Other buildings from "Windy City" will be done very soon :D

Actually, I'll try to work with 3dsmax 2012 or 2013 if the Bat4max working perfectly with this both versions, and if details are betters :)

I just discovered this BAT group thanks to the incredible AON Center on the front page, and as someone that works in downtown Chicago, I just want to say you're doing truly great work. Keep it up! :)

Looking forward to more great stuff from you.

Edit: I work in 333 Wacker Dr, and you've done an amazing job on it. I really love the bridges and the river scene. I walk across that bridge nearly every day.

You really don't need to. It's already up ;)

Love the building Skyscraper. What you call "slow progress" and a "small update" would've taken me at least two entire days of nonstop work to complete :P

That's just a growable, not a plop... I'd use the buildings cheat but I'm (still) on a Mac, and the darn thing will never come up where I want it, so I can't recreate the whole plaza!

Darkono, how can I bribe you into creating a ploppable version of the CNA North Tower?

@unclesahm, the growable version of the CNA North Tower is the only one version because it's an small building, and actually, no plop version will be foreseen at this time... maybe more later :) , and I'm boring with the bug of the Chase Tower, and I want finish my others NYBT and my USA stuff before.

I take your request in consideration ;)

@Skyscraper: Good :) keep up the good work ;)

Any plans for the Chicago BAT Project to ever do some of the art-deco infill for both CO and R?  Lots of awesome architecture on a smaller scale (I'm talking the 4-12 story buildings that would be 1x2 or 1x3 tiles near the loop).

^^^^I agree with jwsteele. It would be a very nice change if Chicago BAT Team focused on older art deco buildings instead of glass & concrete boxes (not that there's anything wrong with that :P ). Some suggestions if I may:

The Former Crain Communications Building on 360 Wacker

(It does have an odd angle though)

& The Wrigley Building, just across the street from the Tribune Tower.

Chicago has tons of beautiful old masterpieces like this and it'd be a shame to bypass them.

Hey everyone, I have been thing about this for a long time a very long time even before the Chicago team. I am fan of New York City, and Chicago, and I have been making building for NYBT, but I do also want to make buildings for the CBT. Everyone on ST knows what front line I will hold down, the residential front. I have been thinking about making Chicago Bungalows and apartments, I hope I can get one started, once I do bat a building from Chicago I'm officially on the CBT. NYBT is still my home, so I will have to keep my forums active.

So what do you guys think?

Aaron, as a first for the the Chicago team, and that would be a very impressive addition in my opinion, why not BAT the Robie House?

Well the AON Center is more or less overscaled:

11kwkqt.jpg

But it could be possible that the guy who created the WTC forgot to apply the 133% scale up from actual height, or something... :whatevs:

Yeah, I know, but the version by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club BATs (Yay, Beatlemaniac! :P) are just individual buildings, not the entire complex. I guess we have to make another version of the entire pre-9/11 WTC complex. :D

Double posting, but whatevah! :whatevs:

Just did a scale testing between different BATs to see if DK35's AON Center is really overscaled or not.

23r5y68.jpg

From left to right: AON Center by DK35, One World Trade Center by Sgt. Pepper, One World Trade Center by rubik3, One World Trade Center (new) by nycc03, Maxis' Empire State Building, and Sears Tower by ks_jpn.

I think the AON Center is really overscaled, because it should be WAAY shorter than the WTC, ESB, and Sears Tower. I also found out Sgt. Pepper's WTC was also overscaled too, so that made me stick with the old BSC WTC.

So, by unanimous decision, AON Center is REALLY overscaled, but still gorgeous. ;)

A unanimous decision by one person is not too impressive. Anything else might indicate a schizophreniac. :P

You are comparing different buildings made by different authors using different scales, picking out one of them and saying it is "overscaled". The only comparison with true value is to take several buildings that you know have been made using RL dimensions plus a uniform scale modifier. Let's see what we have here:

  • For A.ON Center, we know DK35 claims to have picked RL dimensions * 133% to compensate for a squished appearance
  • For Sgt Pepper's WTC, I don't know the scale multiplier, and I know he wasn't going for an absolutely precise recreation at all
  • For rubik3's old WTC, I guess it is scaled to 100% without any modifier
  • For nycc's new 1WTC, I know neither the accuracy to RL dimensions nor the scale modifier (if any)
  • Maxis' old WTC has been made at 100% scale or is even underscaled; that much seems pretty much agreed upon if you ask around.
  • For KS_JPN's Sears Tower, I cannot really say anything.

As a mathematics buff you should know that you're handling an equation with lots of unknown factors here, and that you cannot reach a satisfactory result until these factors are determined. Since this is impossible, I'd propose a different approach:

Take the RL height of all the buildings shown here. Make a simple column in max that has the same height as the corresponding RL building (or maybe a set of three columns - one for 100%, one for 120%, and one for 133% of the RL height). Put these columns next to another; they will be a perfect representation of height differences in any uniform scale modifier. Then plop the BATs next to them, and you'll see what's really overscaled or underscaled.

My guess: All the BATs will oscillate around any height benchmark (100%, 120%, 133%) you choose.

this is a big problem, t wecks, according to you, what would come to be the most realistic building according to the height

I was in need to do a height check for my own purposes just now, and I've finally used your image just out of curiosity, and I can tell you for sure that all of the BATs (excluding Sgt.Pepper's and Darknono's) are underscaled and most likely without any scaling, that is at 100%.
