There are a few small things in SC3U that have always bugged me just a tiny bit.

TOMKBGW.gif

From left to right:

  1. There's another stadium (same functionality and all), but with the only difference that it's... well, just the Foosball Stadium from the Euro tileset.
  2. An additional "stadium" (it doesn't function as one in the game) for soccer is also present.
  3. There are three 1×1 recreational lots that, as far as I can tell, never grow or become available to place under standard circumstances.
  4. There's an unused 1×1 taxiway ("Runway Connector") for airport zones.
  5. I've never been able to trigger the 3×3 lumber mill to grow.  I know agriculture in SC3U is a mess, but it's honestly the only farming lot I have never had appear.
  6. The scrapyard.  It has its own animations and unique query sound, but I've never seen it grow (or appear under the utility menu).

Is there light to be shed on any of these?

This is a test. @Yellowfin is having difficulties posting in this thread.

Edit: This was weird. The reply above would not show until I posted. :boggle:

Hmm. My guess is that this was leftover content that for one reason or another was left in the game files but not added into the final game. I believe there were other buildings that were left out or had their appearances changed before release.

I know there's an unofficial patch floating around, probably on the citybuilders website, that let me grow the scrapyard.

The only patches on CB were the official ones for SC3 and some performance patches that were meant to fix a couple of issues that SC3K users had reported to MAXIS.

A list of SC3K/SC3KU content that is still around on the internet, considering the old SC3KU exchange is gone (and most of my stuff I made in 2000-2002 is gone, which I am kind of pissed about)

CBEX, by @catty-cb
https://community.simtropolis.com/clubs/26-city-builders-website/cbex

Freeland (Fredfree, many others)
http://fredfree.homestead.com/FVC.html
http://freelandrealty.50megs.com/downloads/
Second link is a building directory from Freeland Realty. There are a couple of my BATs (seveneleven117) on there. There's a lot by Birch23 who made a ton of stuff in the SC3KU days there.
Freeland's Yahoo group still has a bunch of stuff but someone needs a Yahoo account which is like, ancient history at this point:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/flealand/files

Hobager (Canadian guy who made a bunch of retail)
http://hobager-download-page.fws1.com/
SimArchitect - both BAP and BAT. BAP is Building Architect Plus and compatible with Unlimited. Lots of buildings under the BAP section.
http://simarchitect.com/buildings/bat/

The Rendering Kit
http://renderingkit.simarchitect.com/
Old SC3000 Exchange for the BAT (before Unlimited Building Architect Plus came out - this version didn't have support for props like cars yet)

A handful of other links I remember from when I played back when:

http://www.tatertown.com/sc3000/db/ - These are all Landmarks so you won't be able to edit them with the BAP tool, but they're easy enough to install (instructions right at the top of the link)

http://www.angelfire.com/empire/gemikas_reality/ - lots of cool stuff from Gemika, one of the BAP legends on the old SC3KU exchange.

http://tosebro.s21.xrea.com/ujimon/ - Probably the only good quality set of Asian BAPs out there that I know of.

http://web.archive.org/web/20160505225309/http://simcityplaza.de/index.php/component/phocadownload/category/1-simcity3000-gebaeude - Original site is down so you'll have to use the wayback machine on this one. Some good stuff from Samoht & Cordes, some of the best euro BAPers.

http://www.simworld-diesims.de/simworld/simgebaeude3.html - Definitely check this one out, has a handful of iconic buildings from the (now defunct) SC3KU exchange.

http://www.clefsdeschampsserrurier.com/ - Site is rather confusing so you'll have to do some looking around, but I remember there being lots of good stuff here.

I've gone thru the documents at CB and while all of the pictures are still there, some of them are a lot smaller than they should be ... but if you right-click on them and then view they do pop up as the right size, not sure what's caused the problem as the original pictures is in a folder on site and the documents are just linking to them so they shouldn't have changed size, but I'll go thru all the documents and see if I can sort out what's going on.

As for SC3000 I've done a random check and I can't see any missing pictures, but it is an extremely old site.

Something all SC3 players should be aware of

Attempts are being made to track down their original creators, we have this list from the Freeland site

http://fredfree.homestead.com/freeland_info.html

so if anyone knows or is in fact one of the people on this list we would appreciate it if you could contact @pclark06 re permission to re-upload your files on the STEX.

At close to 40 bucks, I'll say this is a blatant Rip Off ! Folks, the most reliable site for getting SC3 or SC4, as well as good prices is GOG.com. pass it to your neighbor.

@pclark06

With your permission I'd like to split those 3 posts out into their own thread here in the new SimCity 3000 forum. (Your post, @catty-cb's reply, and then your reply.) Since they are a part of your pclark06 Retail BAT stuff topic, I won't split the posts out without your ok. *;)

Let me know.

And then just a random shout out reply to:

Thought I'd bring some life to this this thread.. things have been pretty quiet. Would be nice if we could get some more people posting in here *:) Some awesome looking buildings and cities so far! Despite the game's age, it's still amazing what people are able to do with it. Especially that city someone posted, I love that skyscraper jungle, the industrial zones, and the res blds.. nice selection of modern/ancient landmarks too. Reminds me of some of my own cities back in the day..

(From way earlier in this thread.) Hopefully you will be notified and drop in again now that this game has its own forum here on ST.

From 720,000 to 144,000. Ah great depressions, how I've missed you so...

It's also interesting to see how much city center land value fades as population drops. This entire central section was completely astronomical prior to the population falling under approximately 300,000.

I had a go this evening... Some of it came back to me, but it was still a slog.  :boggle:

I had some nice farms going in the upper right... do they disappear after a certain population?  Or was it something else?  I forgot so much.

Farms are really tricky things to keep in SC3K, see this article here for some handy hints

Yes, do that. This is the revival of SC3000. Your city is looking good. Rumor on the streets is the Sims need more places to live and work.

I'm certain my playing style in this game revolves around an ungodly obsession with high wealthing...

Before: ~1,050,000, high crime and pollution, low land values

yS2KwkO.jpg

After: ~1,610,000, no crime, land values at critical mass - just shy of spilling over into the "land value bug" territory

(original city is the first one on SC3000.com when sorted by city name A-Z

I tried the Maxis-made Pick Your Climb scenario from the citybuilders site, and while I was able to complete the easy path, the "hard" path is bugged. It wants you to improve a number of important aspects of the city without telling you what they are at first, but one of them is health/education and no matter what I did there I couldn't get it to register I had completed that goal I was told I had satisfied the health objective by building more hospitals, but it's tied to the education objective to form a discrete goal and no matter how many schools, colleges, libraries and museums I built it would not register. Passing the reading program ordinance gave me a message but that's it. I was able to complete every single other goal, but unfortunately the hard path seems very much unwinnable.

At least I've beaten every single Maxis scenario now.

Finished my city.

oW550fO.jpg

A friend came up with this name.

b9m24pY.jpg

2093, after I had finished extending the subway system I forgot to expand while I was rushing for a seven-figure population. Fun fact: nobody really uses the highway but the rail/sub lines are clogged like a South Texas sewer system after Spring break.
