    Hi everyone, thanks for posting.

Subedei - thanks for visiting Norwich, I'm glad you like the city!
Utora - thanks to you too! It's great that you guys can appreciate what I'm trying to do.
Mattc005 - welcome back to ST! Earlier than expected, any reason? Hope you had a good break - oh, and, back by popular demand......... cul-de-sacs! Darn those unreliable bunnies.

    Any more feedback, Simtropolians?

    Thanks again guys.

    Great city, great pictures.

How many football stadiums do you have? I can see 3 in the region view. Is that the Southampton stadium north of the World Cup stadium? Just curious, would love to see some shots of those, with the surrounding areas included.

The stadiums are all given a little feature as they are built, so check back through the CJ and you will see them.

Yes, the stadium of Clarendon Athletic FC is St. Mary's Stadium, Southampton, UK, a stadium I have personally visited when Norwich City travelled there for an FA Cup match not so long ago - it's nice.

    Thanks for visiting. 44.gif

Really nice region. I am enjoying following the progression of your city, quite insightful... and gives me plenty of ideas.

Where did you find the red double decker busses from? Did you have to make them yourself?

    Keep it up.

Your region is growing big huh? It's quite good looking but these empty tree spaces in the city i would build on or lay down park areas. If you would like to have som forests, try having them around near lower buildings or mountains. I think that looks better. But I like your use of monorail. Sydney got a nice monorail i know.

Ring Road Project - Phase 5 - Maidenwell

Good evening everybody and after much slackness (I prefer to call it being busy) on my part I have finally return with an update to Norwich. Maidenwell is on the eastern end of Central Norwich and you may have seen from previous update boasts the Waterfront Convention Centre, Trump Tower UK, the Docklands and Fleming Suspension Bridge. This is a traffic congestion map prior to the commencement of work........

    1Maidenwell.jpg

As you can see, an awful congestion problem around the docks.

Now we move to the building of the ring road itself. Here, the A406 and NLR head into Maidenwell from Stathamstow. Also in view here is the trapezoid-shaped EMI Records Studios......

    2Maidenwell.jpg

The A406 continues around Maidenwell and passes behind Sheppey Hill Services (on the A12) and between two industrial estates......

    3Maidenwell.jpg

A406 continues behind residences and a new industrial estate with Space To Let.........

    4Maidenwell.jpg

Now we move to our main interchange area that makes a busy triangle of road network. Junction 10a (top left of picture) gives motorists access to Blackwater Park + Ride facility and continues toward the river crossing......

    5Maidenwell.jpg

Mayor George is highly honoured to showcase the first piece of work by transport chief Mattc005........

    Jct10a.bmp border=0

Highly impressive - looking forward to displaying more of those tonight and in future. Thanks Matt!!!!!!

In the bottom left corner of the previous picture the left arm of the A406 ends at junction 10b. 10b is a restricted access junction - as it only allows motorists to exit to the west-bound carraigeway of the A13, and likewise only motorists travelling east-bound on the A13 can access the North Circular here.....

    6Maidenwell.jpg

    Jct10b.bmp border=0

Here, we reach the end of the North Circular at Junction 11. Although the road continues beyond this junction with the A13, it becomes the M130 until it reaches the start point for the (proposed) South Circular in Deptwich. The crossing of the River Hex itself is achieved by the construction of the Blackwater Tunnel (just out of this view)......

    7Maidenwell.jpg

    Jct11.bmp border=0

More great work from Matt. To avoid confusion - Hatchrow airport is currently is it's final constuction phase, but it is expected to shoot up and be open very soon......

Here we see the NLR crossing the river also. In view is Blackwater Wharf - ships loading as photo was taken....

    8Maidenwell.jpg

CONRIP have also been at work in Maidenwell - they have designed the piers and amenities of Norwich Yacht Club......

    9Maidenwell.jpg

Plush condos have shot up in the area, but the area is very young and is yet to settle down.......

    10Maidenwell.jpg

Developments on either side of the A102 (M). In view to the top right is Drury Causeway - allowing waterborne access to the Docklands......

    11Maidenwell.jpg

Housing! In view is the junction between A13 (east-west) and A102 (M).

    12Maidenwell.jpg

The M130 reappears from the Blackwater Tunnel and passes by housing and commerce on the shore of the Blackwater Bend....

    13Maidenwell.jpg

The M130 continues behind Greenwell Playing Fields.......

    14Maidenwell.jpg

M130 and NLR exits to Deptwich, with a commuter train heading in the same direction......

    15Maidenwell.jpg

Maidenwell, and in particular the Docklands, continue to enjoy success and high demand......

    16Maidenwell.jpg

The newer, eastern end of Maidenwell at night.....

    17Maidenwell.jpg

    A solid budget......

    18Maidenwell.jpg

    Maidenwell (Norwich total):

A question: how come the water in your region view is different frmo that in your city? Or is that just a bug?

    Welcome to my 500th post!!!!!18.gif17.gif18.gif

Speedy - thanks for visiting. I have many trees in my cities particularly close to highways because I don't think it looks too good to have buildings too close to highways - it's not very often seen in European cities. But there are areas that could be put to better use and that will all come in time as I get more ideas on development. Thanks for visiting Norwich! 44.gif

Mattc005 - thanks again for the excellent highway signs!! The water - I don't know why it does that but you're right it looks weird. It's the waterflora mod I've got so I don't know if anyone else has this problem? 42.gif

Respect to you! What a region; my own pc would probably crash if I tried the same...
    I especially like the Greenwell Playing Fields; it's a very esthetic shot I think, with the railway and monorail close to it, as well as the highway;
Btw those old fashioned double decker buses are very charming! Do they drive left? Btw, I was surfing the STEX, and I also saw a very English-looking public phone (also in red), I believe in the park menu (but i'm not sure)
I was also vey charmed about Maidenwell Docklands, how do you get the terrain so rectangular?

    Anyway..... Keep up!!!35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif

Yes, the buses drive left along with the rest of the traffic - mattc005 posted a link to the file above^^^^^^ if you're interested in getting them. The Docklands - well it took some painstaking and careful with the terrain tool (not god-mode) to do it - I quite like the effect.

Thanks for visiting - I am a big fan of New Holland also! 44.gif

Those roadway signs look fairly nice, just to let you know.... But you do need to have some type of highway transportation heading into Central Norwich, maybe some type of underground expressway, like Montr

see if you can get it to same population as shanghai (13million)
    quote>

meng881124 - hi there, nice to see some new names visiting Norwich. Well, according to my source - www.world-gazetteer.com - Shanghai is only in 9th place in the world with a (mere) 9,005,600. I think it very much depends on where the boundaries are drawn with relation to census information. For instance, Norwich, UK, has a population within the city area of approx. 125,000. However, world-gazetteer has obviously also used the surrounding towns and villages and calculated 172,300. That's a variance of around 38%. So it's not totally accurate. But thanks for visiting and one day maybe I will top 13 million........... 18.gif

Yeah, city's populations are often a bit to work out.

For example, the official population of Newcastle is 250,000, yet the whole Tyne and Wear conurbation is well in excess of a million, so it often depends how you define a city as to its population. FOr example, there is no way Chicago's effective urban footprint covers just 3 million people, in the Greater Chicago area at least 8 million live.

As to the largest city in the world, its almost impossible to define, and it seems to rotate daily between Tokyo/Yokohama, Mexico City, and more recently, Chongquing in China (Where??!!)

Unlucky against Man.U yesterday, Smith's shot goes in, Bentley's just misses (I'm watching the highlights as I type).
