Andy, are you interested in having the props show? Then go to the Visual Details tab in the settings toolbar and set detail on High. This also solves the problem of dissappering buildings.

good job 44.gif once the suburbs are added it will be much better, i also like the huge parks, something that more CJ's need
question: did you get the name 'seven sisters' from the park in the south east? i live near that area so i was just wondering since it sounded pretty familiar, or am i totally wrong? 42.gif

Thanks. I don't usually blatantly steal names I just mix and merge them. With Seven Sisters, there's an area in North London quite close to Tottenham called Seven Sisters. I love the name and couldn't resist! Is that where you mean? Not sure if there's a park there....

Bob, I have all my settings on high except shadows (medium). I have no idea why props don't show, one obvious one is car parks at grocery stores etc changing to grass. Useful if you're attending a music concert in an open field, or going to the British Grand Prix, BUT NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF A CITY!!!! If anyone can offer help, I would be very grateful. Thanks for your comments.

Make sure you have all the texture file dependencies listed in the readme for the lots by SimGoober and whatever else you use. After you've gotten the texture files and unzipped them, or if you already have them, then look inside the folders for each one. I was having the same problem, and it turned out that inside one of the zip files I downloaded and unzipped was ANOTHER zip file that needed to be unzipped. Maybe this is your problem as well?

    News At Ten Sport

Good evening and welcome to News At Ten Sport. In tonight's football, Clarendon Athletic moved top of the Simtropolis Football League Norwich District, with a comfortable 4-1 win over Norwich United.

    /idealbb/files/Clarendon

And Salham lifted themselves off the bottom, with a 2-0 win over Bradwell....

The league table as it stands tonight. As we can see, no team is really exerting any authority, although the two top sides, Clarendon and Norwich City, occupy the top two places. The season is still young though, and there is pleanty of time before it reaches it climax.

    Welcome To Stokesbury!

Hello everyone and welcome to our latest instalment of the growth of the mighty city of Norwich. Stokesbury's main claim to fame thus far is it's choice to be Norwich City Football Club's training headquarters. But for now, we start with the usual tour of the borough......

First up, some tightly-packed suburb areas, with it's residents having a great sense of community....

    /idealbb/files/1Stokesbury.jpg

Here are some industrial units just to the east of that community......

    /idealbb/files/2Stokesbury.jpg

Now, here is an aerial shot of Norwich City Football Club's Training Centre and Youth Academy. The facility, a joint investment by the football club and the local government, boasts an indoor sports arena, hotel, elementary and high school, college, museum, physiotherapy centre and a number of sports facilities. The Club's Youth Development Officer commented, The facility has been established to help attract families with talented young footballers into the Norwich area. It will provide the best in football training, together with an excellent curricular education. It cost us around

I don't know which is more impressive - the incredibly realistic layout and feel of your city, or the fact that you have a city that large and you've hardly built any highways!

    Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much indeed. I have an outer ring road planned soon, so much of the highway network will start from there onwards, as in real British cities (yes, a sneak preview of my plans, I usually try not to give too much away!!!!).

    Thanks again Chris.

This really is an impressive region! But I have a request, and a suggestion: how about some newer downtown closeups? And, might I suggest a new international airport in Clarendon or something using Joerg's airport pack?

Well, mattc005, first of all, thankyou for your comments. Re downtown shots, I must admit that I haven't updated Central Norwich much since my last pics way back.....whenever it was. Although, I will be updating fairly soon, if all goes as planned. Re Airport, all in good time! Again, watch this space.

Bonfire Night Celebrations - Clarendon In The Spotlight

Hello everyone and welcome to another update of Norwich. Tonight, we focus on Clarendon, directly north of Central Norwich. It is linked to Central Norwich via the A1, A10 and A11. Tonight we have some spectacular photos, featuring Clarendon amidst it's Bonfire Night celebrations. First of all, we give you all an aerial view with places of interest labelled. This is the central corridor of the borough.....

As promised, region views. As you can see, Central Norwich is now almost completely enclosed. There are still 2 main open spaces, in north-west Central Norwich and south-west Maidenwell, where building contractors are waging a bitter battle to obtain redevelopment rights and earn themselves some BIG money.......

Welcome To The Borough Of Stathamstow, Norwich

Yes, hi again folks I'm back for another update. Stathamstow is to the north-east of Central Norwich and is fed by two dual carriageways; the A11 coming from Clarendon to the east and the A12 coming from Maidenwell to the south. Without further ado, the first two shots here are aerial views with place labels. First, the west of Stathamstow.....

    /idealbb/files/1Stathamstow.jpg

    ....and the west.....

    /idealbb/files/2Stathamstow.jpg

As you can see, there are still a few undeveloped residential areas.

Here is the Stathamstow Roundabout, where the A11 and the A12 intersect. It is very busy.... Also in the picture is the electric power station.

    /idealbb/files/3Stathamstow.jpg

Stathamstow Central Station and car park. It stands on Stathamstow High Street (A12).......

    /idealbb/files/4Stathamstow.jpg

Nearby to the station is Stathamstow's outdoor shopping mall. Each and every taste catered for copiously.....

    /idealbb/files/5Stathamstow.jpg

Clarendon Road Station, just by the A11. It's classical Continental European design has won favour amongst Stathamstow's public.....

    /idealbb/files/6Stathamstow.jpg

Rowhouses situated around a public park. The quiet life..........

    /idealbb/files/7Stathamstow.jpg

Stathamstow is also home to some seemingly insane new architectural approaches. This unusual-looking building is home to some 1,145 people.....

    /idealbb/files/8Stathamstow.jpg

Some more rowhouses, just for good measure.....

    /idealbb/files/9Stathamstow.jpg

Stathamstow's Rail Depot is where a large quantity of Norwich's trains are serviced, repaired, repainted and housed.....

    /idealbb/files/10Stathamstow.jpg

A closer look at some of the on-site facilities.......

    /idealbb/files/11Stathamstow.jpg

That's all for Stathamstow presently, here are the borough's economic statistics after 7 years......

Norwich City Council Planning & Transportation Department

    Report Into Road Congestion

Norwich City Council is now in a position to present it's report into congestion on Norwich's roads, and how the situation can be alleviated.

Traffic in Central Norwich is becoming intolerable. The A147 Inner Ring Road is becoming packed to way over capacity, which is choking the businesses in Central Norwich. This is making development very difficult, and it will, ultimately, stagnate. Meanwhile, conditions for residents are deteriorating and the noise from the traffic is detracting from their standard of life, and their journey to work often takes twice or more as long as it should.

    1 Proposed Solution

To alleviate this growing problem, the department suggests that an outer ring road is built around the fringes of the city as it is presently. This road will:

    - Allow easier and more direct access for traffic from inside outer ring road to reach the city's peripheral areas and beyond;

    - Create a viable central hub for the city's motorway network to stem from and empty into - if motorways empty into city centre it would cause chaos whereas emptying into ring road will redistribute traffic evenly and effectively;

    - As Norwich grows outwards (3,000,000+ more residents if present growth trends remain constant) it will help to develop localised economies that cannot rely so heavily on the strength of businesses in Central Norwich as most areas currently do;

    - Prevents through traffic. It will provide an efficient means of traffic reaching opposite sides of the city eg. Maidenwell to Oakhill, without having to trawl through the city centre.

    2. Policies

The department suggests the following policies:

    - Limit number of junctions. This will:
         a) enable smooth traffic flow by removing many sets of traffic lights that slow journeys;
         b) enable simple upgrade of road as and when necessary.

    - Place junctions ONLY at major route eg. trunk roads (A1, A2, A3, A4, A11, A13 etc.) to keep traffic on local roads to a minimum.

    - Add Park & Ride facilities at key junctions and near to residential areas. This in turn would extend the use of existing rail network and help to initiate future forms of transport (see Possible Partnership Plans).

    - The length of the road should have sound walls and barriers of trees in residential areas, together with footbridges at regular intervals.

    3. Upgrades

The road would be upgraded to motorway regulations:

    - A junction with a major trunk road. Allows for smooth and continuous traffic flow.

    - Where there are very high amounts of traffic on existing local roads. It is hoped that this would encourage drivers to use the new route for speed and efficiency.

    4. Projected cost

    - Final cost of the plan is unsure until plans finalised, however ,it is expected that the total cost will be well in excess of

6.gifOooooooo! Finally... the low-density suburbs are comming! 9.gif
First of all, I must say... I hate dirty and manufacturing industry...  (The little bit in Stathamstow), but I suppose it's the first step in any city. Secondly, since I am very bad (and hate) searching for buildings (I do know how though!), where did you get...
    a)The tall rowhouses
    b)The railyard?
Thirdly, if you keep telling your secrets I might just end up getting jelous and making a Norwich look-alike11.gif No.. that's mean..
Oh, and finally the most important thing...
    YAY! URBAN SPRAWL IS FINALLY COMMING TO NORWICH!!!! 9.gif 9.gif 9.gif 9.gif 9.gif 9.gif 9.gif 9.gif
I'm sooo exictied... a new highway encircling Norwich is just what a city needs... trust me look where I live... I know oh too well the effects.
And another question: does Norwich have a subway/underground system or just that massive train network?42.gif

    ^That will keep you busy.
