i thought so. I've sent a pm to Dirk; hope this can be fixed, or upgraded. It's so frustrating.. thanx

Can anyone tell me why the STEX is so EXTREMELY slow in downloading? it takes an eternity to download one single file, really really frustraiting. 0-10 kB/sec is not normal! should be at least 100-200 kB/sec The problem must be on this site, because my internetconnection is fast, and i got no problems with other websites

Ha! A remarkable moment.. just awakening from hybernation and seeing one of my alltime favourite writers actually sculpting a very impressive story with just about everything that makes a story great in it. Once again on the tip of my chair... If this was a movie, I would vote this one for the Oscars!

yeah, i know that. i guess i got a little bit confused because of what was said in another thread. There they suggested it could have something to do with registration. But that's not the problem. If you are a registered user, but still run into the BAT nightlighting update error, it can be fixed easily: Anyway: i fixed the problem. Here's the solution for anyone who runs into the same problem: Go to the Maxis-site (SC4) and to the "help", "updates" section. Select: "manually install the updates" Then you can choose out of the following updates: SKU1 till SKU5. Pick the relevant update for you, install it, and then after that install the BAT nightlighting update (SC4 BAT update). NB: You don't need to have the SimBAT, Lot Editor, Plugin Manager or Gmax installed For example: I'm a Dutch user, I'm from Holland, so I selected the SKU2 update (which includes Europe, where I'm from). When I installed that update, I didn't run into any error. Everything ran fine. After that I could install the nightlighting update without any problems as well. My nightlighting for BAT plugins now work fine. To anyone who reads this: hope this helps! Please anyone with this problem, for whom this info hasn't been helpful, PM me.

I have a problem with installing the BAT nightlighting update, for some reason it doesn't work, whatever i try. I always get the "old file missing" error, even when i have all the required updates installed (EP1). I also can't download the SKU1-5 updates, same error. I've read the previous thread on this problem, and the only thing i can think of, is that it has something to do with registration. Now here's where the problem shows up: On my previous computer, i had installed the game, and registered it online at the Maxis-site. I had no problems installing updates, everything worked correctly. Since a few months I have a new pc, and thus i had to re-install the game on my new pc. When i wanted to install the updates from the Maxis site, i suddenly ran into this error-problem. when i try to register again, it (obviously) says that either the registration number is already registered, or that it is invalid. i have absolutely no idea how to solve this problem. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Btw, i run Vista on my new pc. Utora

How do you feel about the SCS announcement?
utora replied to Dirktator's topic in City-Building Games
interesting discussion... like many forumers i tend to feel a little bit disappointed when it comes to the new direction that SC seems to take. It looks like nothing I would have expected of the next version of this most beloved game. However, I think it is a bit too early to make a fair judgement. For now I'd like to say that my greates fear is that SC4 and especially the amazing high-quality custom content created for it (and available on this site) will slowly disappear. I mean, what about all these great fantastic BATs, Mods and expansions created by this community?? When I speak for myself, I think SC has already reached its highest level; I can do whatever I want with the game, I can create the cities I'd like to create; hell, I can even create complete universes and build fantastic stories behind them. With SC5, everything will start from scratch again. We will have to wait for months, maybe even years to reach the amount of custom content that REALLY takes the game to a higher level. And I'm not sure whether I'm willing to partake in that process again.. The game is almost perfect to me the way it is right now (just to mention the terrains that one can create, the different styles one can give a city, the stories one can build behind them...) I'm skeptical, and i really HOPE that this site, and particularly the City Journals-section and the STEX will continue to exist in their current form for a very, very long time!! -

great story! I like the suspense that's built into it; I also like the wonderful terrainshots of the forests, hills and streams; but most of all, i wonder what's in the woods (somehow it makes me think of the black riders from lotr); and those stars... what about the stars...? I wanna know!! marvellous job Mr C! I'm getting really inspired by the story...

Wow! Some amazing stuff in here MrC; It's really great to see you've started a new journal; it's even better to see it's of great quality as well (but somehow I already expected that...lol). It's been a LONG time since I've taken up the time to wander around this site, but it feels good! I'll catch up with the story and of course I'm curious about it's unfolding (and of course the yada yada ya..) Great to see you back man! Utora

I have a mod-request I would like to have a mod that prevents ALL REGULAR GAME BUILDINGS TO GROW, so that only the plugins and custom content grows in your city. (and no, I don't like the idea of plopping a city, so the PlopModd will not do) Would anybody like to dedicate some time to this? cheerz, Utora
