By about 0100 EDT chat starts working again. It is the time period between 1800 EDT and 0100 EDT that is the problem.

I keep getting a 'Authentication fail' when I try to get into the Chat. The last time I was in (today) I just closed the tab of the chat but haven't 'left' it. Could that be a problem and the chat be registering e double login with the same IP Address?

Yeah, where in ST Admins when Chat is down for almost the whole evening? Come on, please fix this. It really beginning to get on my nerves.

I remember a few days ago Dirk said he was looking into the problem. I can't say whether he has or not. So the Admins do know, at least. Why it depends on time of day is definitely weird, though...

Verified. Seems to be in the evenings. I got on after midnight yesterday and during the day today. Now I get this 'authentication failure". Some sysop isn't doing something on the second shift???

Verified this at my end. Was refused a short while ago, but I got on after midnight last night and around lunch time today. EDT.

It happens precisely between 1700 EDT and 0100 EDT. Outside of those hours chat works. I messaged Dirk to alert him to the problem. Last time I was in chat (during daylight hours) the mods didn't seem to believe me that there was a chat problem at all.

Nope, it wasn't. Some threads were merged together that were covering the same issue. I was responding to FlyHigh's post (quoted at the bottom of this post) that is before yours as which was previously a separate thread.

I can't get into the chat anyway, Moreover, around 1700 GMT+1, I couldn't access SimTropolis at all...

Same with me, I just got in here and it took about a minute. The chat is also inaccsessible as well, coming out with a blank screen. Only 4 ppl are chatting at 14:53 edt or 18:54 GMT. Between 17:00 GMT and 19:50 GMT i am having trouble with simtropolis just gettting in. Please report this to Dirk- thx, colco2121.

Simtropolis is not working on IE9, Win7 64-Bit but works fine on Firefox latest edition on same OS. Here is a pic:

Well, I don't think anyone really wants to use IE, so stick to FF. Meanwhile, take a look at the banner today.

It appears most of the problems that were happening earlier have been fixed, for me at least. The only thing I've noticed is that the text "Search..." in the search bar seems a touch higher than it should be. Chrome 20.0.1132.47 on Windows 7.

Hmmm for me the forums are not showing up, the top bar with user profile, chat, etc. looks almost like the Pac-Man kill screen, and everything looks odd. I'm not sure if it's my browser(Internet Explorer) or another problem.

EDIT: I'm on Firefox, and Simtropolis is working like normal. I'm not sure if this is related to the internet malware thing that was all over the internet this past weekend.

It is indeed browser (internet explorer) related. For me, using chrome, everything is fine. With IE(9) it is completely... shall we say... wonky. The same thing was also confirmed by colco2121.

I can only maneuver through the forum by working my way through the recent replies listing.

Also, the pop-up tools for inserting images or links in the reply box also show almost entirely blank windows, looking like this:

Actually, the entire reply box is unpredictably uncooperative today.

One thing I noticed that others may have not is that you cannot click on the images for full size anymore.

When you click on a photo the browser will darken but no image will be displayed.

A good workaround for now is to link to the image's URL to view in full size or resize the image to a maximum of 800 pixels wide.

Haven't had any of this with FF 13.0.1
