To Eddiem (to whom I would note that I'm Scots-Irish) and Mexicanboy13:

Yes! Yes! Yes! Those are exactly what I was seeking.

Thanks so much.

CFS

The late American historian Joe Grey Taylor on the Scots-Irish in America:

The Scots-Irish came to this country determined to keep the Ten Commandments...and anything else they laid hands on.

The Scots-Irish prayed on their knees on Sunday and preyed upon their neighbors every other day of the week.

Since there seems to be a high level of literacy around here, though 'literacies' would perhaps be more accurate, I'd like, appropos of the cultural differences sub-thread, recommend a highly amusing and entertaining novel of cross-cultural manners.

American Fuji Sara Backer

An American English language ex-pat teacher in Japan. Very funny and much better than the superficialities of 'Lost in Translation'.

I was kind of concerned this would come up eventually ... I'm interested to see if and what Somy himself will say in response to this.

Somy has posted. There is no problem with my creations being posted at Simtropolis. Just in case, I will say this myself.

Thanks, Somy!

Anyone can just make a comment like that, they just have to have the guts to withstand all the ridicule they'll get for the insinuating post. Honestly who in their right mind think they'll get praise for such a comment? Some people just want to be hated...

I sent an e-mail to APTX thanking him for translating his lots into English. Here's the reply:

'Thank you for your coming to my web site and your introducing my works to
Simtropolis.
I'll hereafter make not only Japanese version Lots, but also English version
Lots.
Enjoy!
                          APTX
'
It goes without saying that the credit goes to Armandeus for the introductions etc.

I'll just repost this as it's relevant at this time.

Thanks, Eddiem. And congrats on your new title.

It turns out there was one misunderstanding. Mine. I thought that the image the poster (who is not Somy) was referring to was the image that Equinox used when he posted Somy's lot.

It wasn't. It was the image on this thread (on the previous page) of the SimCity Force post that mentioned Equinox.

The poster was commenting that we copied and pasted the post from SimCity Force and that we couldn't machine translate the emoticon at the end. There was no grammatical subject in the poster's comment (as often happens in Japanese when the speaker assumes you know what he's referring to) and I only realized what subject the poster was referring to when he posted again to clarify his first comment.

That much was a misunderstanding, and I apologized. I also apologize for my hastiness to you here.

The rest of the poster's comment was not a misunderstanding, but the poster offered an apology for his rashness. I think we should accept it and forget about this matter.

I found some nice buildings through one of your links, Armandeus.... but there is no way to download those or so it seems.

http://www.geocities.jp/kei_5218443/Jp-Style-1.htm  This is the site I found the buildings on... Could you have a look there and find some info, when you've time?  My Japanese is not what it should be 18.gif

The answer you seek is on page 31 of this thread. See my third post on that page, and read the text starting with Kei and others.

Cynshep0500, unless there is a Japanese BAT web page that I don't yet know about, all of the BATs, including parks and gardens, have already been introduced somewhere in this thread. I know it takes time, but if you want them please look through the thread for them. That's what I would have to do to find them for you, because I don't have the locations of all the Japanese BATs memorized. Keep in mind that some of the old web sites may have closed down, so if you can't download something, it's gone. Good luck.2.gif

What I can recall is that if the gardens of Japanese castles are acceptable, there are a few here  (you will need these props ). If temples are OK, go here . And there are a few modern parks and historical buildings with parks here . I'm sure there's more out there, but I can't remember where.

I have looked at nearly every page of this thread. They're very graphics intensive and I have only a dial-up connection at home so it's a prolonged process. I found kinkaku shrine and was glad of it.

I certainly did not expect that you should find them for me. Only that should you happen across parks and gardens in the course of your explorations, you might be so good as to post a few here.

We all have our preoccupations. Fighter planes and skyscrapers are cool, they're just not my 'thing'. It's one the best features of SC4 that no two people will ever produce the same city. It's a highly personal and creative undertaking.

I'm Mac. I can't use LE and BAT. I'm probably going to have to buy the PC version and install it at work (weekends - my own time and with my employers full permission - natch) to have access to these things. Oh, and the infamous nightlighting dat and building dats 1 &2. Sigh.

Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Yesterday I downloaded a whole bunch of lots to make some kind of attraction park... With a roundabout, a flying pirate ship and some more. It was mostly done with the lot editor, and the link is already on this thread on one of the early pages.

But... now we have two rollercoasters on the STEX and some water attraction made with the BAT, the perfect stuff is now available to create a more or less realistic park for entertainment.

Shall I give the link and place screenshots of the stuff I downloaded? If so, that will be done on friday since I will be more occupied tomorrow... 1.gif

Hi Dargor.

Even one screenshot and a link back to the earlier page would be great, some of the older posts in this thread tend to be missed especially by dial-up users.

Eddie.

That would be a great idea.
Let me get this straight. So what your planning on doing is  posting pics and links to all the old BATs that were posted on this thread ?

No. The subject of amusement\theme parks comes up regularly here and elsewhere because there is a lack of them and as I said, it's not easy for dial-up users (bless them) to trawl through 980 posts to find something. As I've said before the best place to start finding these lots is by visiting: http://homepage2.nifty.com/kamurai/simcity/log.htm  where there is an archive of 541 lots on 7 pages. If someone is looking for something specific which they may have seen in a CJ for example, they can ask and if anyone can help, they will.

Eddie.

Here's the reply to an e-mail I sent to E-N:
Hello Eddie.
I can hardly use English. It apologizes.
Mail thank you.
Hereafter, I will make BATs and LOTs.
I want you to be going to expect it in the future.
E-N
All his\her work has featured here at some time I think.
Eddie.

Alright! It's a pleasure to help 19.gif

Use this link: http://kamurai.itspy.com/bbs/lev-bbs.cgi?bid=simedit=log2  The attractions can be found if you scroll down towards the bottom of the page. There are five or six different lots that need to be combined to create something as below: Because those are seperated lots, it's possible to seperate those... make walkway's, add water... etc. And if you add a Rollercoaster and a water-attraction from the STEX, a huge parking and a fence, it looks really nice!

Milky way Railway

I think that makes reference to a famous Japanese cartoon in the '70s, roughly translated as...999: The Milky way Railway. Similar to a Harrier take-off from a British aircraft carrier, that particular train takes off to the universe at the end of the track.

I hope they would modify that flying train too17.gif

You are exactly right. It's called Ginga Tetsudo Three Nine in Japanese, and Galaxy Express 999 in English. Google search here .

Sorry, but when I saw your post saying, Parks, please.  And gardens, it sounded like a request to find these things now.41.gif

Anyway, Eddiem and I post everything we find here, so even if we don't keep our eyes out specifically for parks and gardens, we'd still post them as soon as we see them.2.gif

Two new BATs. First, a sailing ship park by Bripizza. It's a landmark costing 60,000 to plop and 150 to maintain. Go here and click on Sailing Ship Park in blue to download.

See what I mean? I'm already posting parks and gardens.9.gif

Next, Raika created a large house for two family generations to live together, called Estate Mihama. Go to this page and click on the download link after Estate Mihama.

They are extra props for LE. They will cycle through 8 hours each.

Can't remember seeing any others.

There are cherry trees in SOMY's mountain temple , ki01 is the prop name. There are also various trees in Ragutaro's prop set .
