The station can be found on APTX's site if I'm not mistaken.

NOB's Water-wheel Power Plant is so cool, and SOMY's freighter project looks to be a mind-boggler!

If you are fleshing out your own version of Shinjuku, be sure to also visit Capital SimCity's downloads page "Zona de Descargas" at http://www.capitalsimcity.com/ for gonzalo1234's new skyscraper, the Sompo Japan Head Office Building.  It's a Spanish website with mostly Spanish BATters, but with some cool Japanese-themed buildings.  This tower was originally the landmark Yasuda Fire & Marine Insurance Building when built in the 1970s, but Yasuda has recently allied and merged with several other big Japanese insurance companies to form the "Sompo Japan" insurance group.  Their renamed headquarters remains one of the earliest of the big Shinjuku skyscrapers.

    Sompo Japan Head Office Building

If you watched any imported Japanese tv from the 1970s and 1980s, you must certainly have seen this building somewhere in the background between the giant monster and giant robot battles.  For the 1970s, I guess this was futuristic and cutting-edge.

Strangely, I don't seem to recall ever coming across a Japanese BAT model by any Japanese BAT artists of this Tokyo landmark.  Go figure!

    Yasuda Kasai Kaijo building, finally........

Somebody at CSC really has a thing for Modernist-Brutalist/International Style architecture(whatever its called lol i dunno). These are gonna come in handy in a city I am building for my CJ.

    *cough*

though it was the early 90's(the movie channels and Family channel used to be really low budget and showed all sorts of random stuff, and I watched waaay too much tv when I was little)

I always liked it, its so japanese. I think because it sort of reminds you of mt fuji or the atari logo if you look at it from the side

    ...

but yeah, for 1976, totally futuristic...that was a long time ago....

...my dad was my age in 1976, thats freaky....

Oh no!  I finally sat down to install and inspect my past two weeks of downloaded BATs (scores and dozens in a batch is getting tedious!), and the Chiba Port Tower seems to be bugged.  At least for me, it cannot be plopped as the lot insists the ground is not levelled enough.  I get this message even when trying to build it on perfectly flat land.  Oh well, I may have to look into the lot and do some editing, as the flora props are bit much for my taste anyway.

I also bit the bullet and did somemore poking around SimCity Force at http://homepage2.nifty.com/kamurai/simcity/ yesterday.  Be sure to check out pnorrell's great and useful guide in the topic above before navigating SimCity Force.  I think I understand its organization a tad bit better...the site is mostly a giant long-running BBS, and some of the galleries are really collected thumbnails of all the images included by posters into their archived thread messages.  Imagine going through Simtropolis solely by looking through just the images posted that month...it all hangs together better if you can actually read the thread topics.

At any rate, here is one I did not previously see here, though if it has been mentioned previously, forgive me.  Simtropolis's search function doesn't cooperate for me...I sometimes can't even query my own messages!

    Suzakumon

It's the Suzakumon from Nara.  This is the crimson colored Red Sparrow Gate (or is it Red Phoenix Gate), the ceremonial main south front gate to the Imperial Palace of the ancient capital Heijokyo.  It is named after the protective god of the South, though I leave it to the better translators to decide if that is a sparrow or a phoenix!  The original gate and palace were destroyed long ago, and archaeological excavations of the ancient site allowed the gate to be reconstructed in the 1990s.  To either side should begin the enclosure walls defining the imperial compound, and through the axis center begins the great north-south ceremonial road, the Suzaku Ooji.  A similar Suzakumon would later be built in Kyoto when the old capital was transfered, and would be paired with the famous Rashomon.  Like the Brandenburger Tor, the Ishtar Gate, or Tiananmen, these are among history's great city gates.  I might radically change the overly large and empty lot (3x2 would be better and more versatile), but the model is absolutely wonderful.

This great model was made by Rick and was found at:

    http://kamurai.sakura.ne.jp/editbbs/lev-bbs.cgi?bid=SC4=log2-1&skin=skin/config/=/editbbs/skin/config/&style=1&page=1&ppid=1137080243666215#1137080243666215

    Suzakumon can be downloaded at:

    http://kamurai.sakura.ne.jp/editbbs/data/SC4/old/log2-1/1137080243666215/suzkau1.lzh

Hopefully these links will work.  The file is compressed as an *.lzh archive, so you will need a utility that can read and open *.lzh files, like WinRAR or Power Archiver.

Next, I think these were released in February, so they may or may not have been shown here are well, but if not, be sure to check out Nekomimi's pack of giant Obelisks.  I've seen the super towering yellow version before, but not this pack of smaller (but still huge) and more varied obelisks.

    Obelisks

    Their thread was at:  http://kamurai.sakura.ne.jp/editbbs/lev-bbs.cgi?bid=SC4=log2-1&skin=skin/config/=/editbbs/skin/config/&style=1&page=1&ppid=1139707055849520

Download the goodies from Nekomimi at:  http://www.cmo.jp/users/myrafellshay/Oberisk's.zip

Some of the repeating texture patterns are a bit overdone, but some of the brown obelisks are near perfect.  So let it be written that Pharaoh is pleased.

    t8602.gif

    AWPVancouverTerminalmin.jpg

looking at the cargo hold style i think these are going to be part of a grain terminal.

EDIT also did anyone do a search on the ships names? i did and got pictures of

sims characters, lol wonder wher somy is getting his inspiration.

I've been catching up on some of the pages from earlier on, and have been frustrated by the fact that Firefox doesn't seem to have the hyperlinks when people say: Download it here and you will get... 'Here' is never highlighted, and I have no clue as to which site they are referring to so can't navigate there on my own. I just want to ask if anyone could tell me where to get the Highrise Grand Station (El Rail) and the Kinkaku Ji (Gold Pavillion), and I would be extremely grateful. Also, ST could you please try and fix the issue the site has with Firefox, as I can no longer use Internet Explorer due to a virus infiltrating the program...

Great work finding these sites, I have a slight advantage when looking through, as I speak and read Japanese, so am using it as a revision exercise to improve my Japanese (and it's hard work lol). Anyway, while searching I stumbled upon a garbage ferry which I thought would be perfect for those island cities (instead of using the underwater link perhaps?) I believe it was from Somy's site, so head that way 2.gifhttp://members3.jcom.home.ne.jp/somy000/p6.htm

Somewhere I remember watching an interview where a Japanese anime voice actor was supposed to introduce his new movie.  However, he got stumped on one of the off-screen prompter's kanji.  "I can't read this kanji...that is a hard one...what the heck does this say...look's like 'west-morning'...oh, it's 'world conquest'!"  lol, so its hard for them too!

But I digress, the Kinkaku Ji was made by Ragutaro and is found on his personal BAT download page on his website at http://www.hide-inoki.com/  He has lots of great stuff there, so check it out.
