  1. London Underground Station Resized

I must admit I prefer this size to the original - blends in to the city better. Great work!
  2. Campanile Di San Marco Venezia

I actually like the clean look of the daytime version - something new for my Sims to flock to! And, it would not look out of place set among plazas...
  3. 1st official trailer

Fan-blooming-tastic! I love it! Not only did it not totally offend me with carnival colours, it also didn't leave me at one oblique angle to ponder what it could be like - the video showed me what it would be like to see the city from many angles! I L O V E the landscape textures, I love the gritty R E A L I S M of the cityscape. Most of all, I L O V E the fact that you used my idea of going from a WORLD view to the cities!!! AWESOME! I also messaged on the CitiesXL site, but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited about this game after the disappointment and non-event that was SC:S. C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S Monte Cristo, Phillippe et al for a F A N T A S T I C 1st trailer. As the song says, 'the only way is up' and W H O A dude, that's some heights you're going to hit!
  4. Australian Cities

OK, I live in Wollongong - born and bred - but my heart belongs to Sydney. I have seen many of the other cities, and though I may love them for one reason or another, Sydney is the only all-rounder out of them. Melbourne may 'look nice', from a distance, but it is so awkwardly laid out and planned, and it doesn't take advantage of its place on the bay at all. Brisbane is clean, I guess, but it doesn't feel 'lived in'. And what is the go with the branding of 'Brisvegas'??? The city lacks originality and direction. Perth may have the climate and skyline, but it is too far away from everywhere else and remains fairly cemented in the past. Adelaide is beautiful and I could walk around it for a couple of hours. Which I have. But that's about it - I had nowhere else to go after that as I'd already been to the surrounding villages of Hahndorf etc. Darwin is like a tropical version of Wollongong and so it doesn't rate at all. Hobart - well, cute little town, but hey, on the city stakes it doesn't cut it. I won't mention the capital for obvious reasons. So Sydney it is. Skyline, harbour, life, vitality, and most of all, personality.
  5. SCS a Disappointment?

Originally posted by: princeblowfly Hi everyone, Long time I dont post anything here. In fact, my lack of English have always limited my opinions here to non, as It is hard for me to write in English. But let's just go to the point. I am soooooooo largely dissapointed with this new simcity that I cannot express my feelings even in Spanish. When I bought the game two days ago, I couldn´t believe that was a simcity game. It was the worst 50 euros I've ever spent in my life!!!!! What happened to the people in EA?? Have they been hidding themselves all this time that we were wishing and suggesting developments for, in my opinion, one of the best(if not the best) PC game ever?? Are they dumbs?? I understand the point that they wanted more people to be able to play this game, but as someone said in this post, is it worth it to loose all the gamers that has been playing all the titles of simcity??Because, the more post I read, the more I realise that hardly anyone here like the game. And trust me, that the more frikye gamers of simcity well know this webpage, and EA has to know this webpage too. Then, why they did this with the game?? How many years we have been expecting an SC5??hoping that it would fill in all our desires about this game?? We always expected the opposite of what simcity societies truly is. If they wanted to do an easy game for childs to play, just remember: was it easy to play simcity 2000 at the beguinning?I dont know about the you, but I was a child at that time, and I learned to play it. I learned about what a real city needed to be runned. WE ALL LOVED IT AS IT WAS!!! As you can see, im just going around trying to express something I don't eve know what it is. But i think you all get the idea, even the same feeling. I just hope that we dont have to wait another 4 years to get the simcity we have always dream of!!! PS. BTW, my cd of simcity deluxe is now broken, and I can't play the game anymore. After months trying to buy it again, I can't find it anywhere. Could anyone tell me where can I get a new copy of SC4 Deluxe??thnkss in advancequote> I totally agree with you, only I didn't buy the game, my friend did. I decided to 'give it a go' as everyone kept saying it's a 'different' game to SimCity (Who needs logic when you're a multimillion dollar company?). Yes, it is indeed different, but even so -who in their right mind would want to sit and plop every variation one at a time of the housing available even in the free-form mode????? I spent five hours playing the game, and found it extremely frustrating, too limited, and way way way too basic to even warrant my desire to get back into it. Anyway, back to my point: If you send the broken disc back to EA via the address in the manual, and a nominal fee, they will in fact replace the disc for you, which saves you from buying/finding the whole deluxe version again. They are pretty good for that sort of thing, so it's always worth a try. Good luck!! Edude7

It was interesting to get overseas perspectives on the issues on CNN and BBC (even though it barely made a headline ripple on FOX) as well as flicking back to our own coverage. There were many issues at stake, but I think the main one was credibility on delivering fairly for all Australians was the main issue which manifested itself in many forms. It was time for change. 7. Will you buy it?

The screenshots are awesome - compare to that God-awful initial screenshot of SC:S... I was blown away by the globe map chooser - especially with Australia positioned so prominently! (Da Silva: You guys are awesome!!!) And from Da Silva's comments, it sounds much more intriguingly familiar than SC:S ever did. I am almost sold on this game, I just need a demo to tip me over the edge into 'I'll pay ANYTHING for this game!!!' (For comparative purposes, please see my comment on the 'Will you buy it? SC:S version')
  8. OK, so what is the point of building popularity with a game, creating a fan base that expects improvements on the original formula, but which maintains some sort of resemblance to the original, to just say to them: 'you know what? You're a boring bunch of people. The sequels should be innovative (*I do support this point in theory, not in practise as EA sees it*) and should make you think about what you're doing, so we're not giving you an updated improved and interesting sequel, we are going to give you a rehashed idea from another game franchise which didn't work, and make it fit your game's scenarios without even attempting to bring in the added elements the previous sequels did'?????? This is utter stupidity from people who have their eyes on money factor rather than credibility among its consumers. If we went to the corner store to find that they no longer 'do' groceries because they thought the consumer market needs innovation and so they now sell batteries only, sure, some people will still buy, but the majority who went expecting groceries will go 'what the ****? I want groceries, I am going to just drive on down to the next place which DOES still give groceries'. I am all for innovation, and I am one who is against the 'dumbing down' of games - SC:S provides a level of innovation, but they dumbed it down by making that innovation the ONLY aspect of the game play... Not good.
  9. Australian Architecture

Yes, Bordz, but shhhhh... don't tell jimbojones lol... Scotty222: That is awesome batting a Sydney iconic skyscraper!!!! Gotta love New Zealand!!! You lot are great, I can't wait for the release of that building! I'd love to incorporate New Zealand architecture as part of this thread too, as we are in the same boat - we seem to be overlooked a fair bit (though I did notice Auckland's Skytower on the STEX - it's in my city of Carpentaria lol). We seem to have been left high and dry yet again by the new game, the so-called Societies which is restricted, once again, to North America and Europe, with some pretty ugly tree-houses that made me choke on my vegemite toast!!! But, they have overlooked us again, and it seems the Aussie & NZ content will have to come from the people prepared to create them - we have a long journey ahead, though I am not sure I will venture down the Societies path, especially if it is as satisfying as the screenshots that have been released *blech*
  10. Awesome, Dirk. We are very concerned by the direction the game is heading, and so we trust you all to adequately state our case - personally I like the idea of societies, but as an 'added element' to the core gameplay we had in SC4... Thanks again, Dirk, and have a good day with SC:S. Edude7 (UnzippedSim77 on Tilted Mill Forums)
  11. :Australia:

You're doing great work, and I like the fact that you are building these without the strain of trying to find the 'correct' buildings for the cities (seeing as it is practically impossible on the STEX). Unfortunately we seem to have a lot of Aussies who don't realise this stuff isn't available and so can't really be incorporated. I am having the same situation with my 'Illawarra' region, particularly in Wollongong, which now resembles a 'future view' of the city more than anything else...
  12. Do YOU really want 3D??

3D is one of the ways in which SC4 can be improved, and despite many people's reservations which are essentially knee-jerk reactions and fiercely possessive emotions towards SC4, I think a move to 3D is the best thing the game platform can do. The fact that this move has coincided with a move to a different style of game-play in what is looking to be a stand-alone series alongside the original SimCity series, has meant many SC fans have cowered and backed away from the 3D. What everyone must keep in mind is in order to get that great SC in a 3D world, functional testing must be done, and I applaud EA and TM for testing out these functions in something they can easily bill as being a 'spin-off' or stand-alone series in order to allow the functions to be refined for an absolutely awesome official SC5. I, personally, am sick of reading the same arguments over the supposed deficiencies of 3D technology and business mind-sets, and would like to see some of the more relevant details to start being discussed in these threads, such as how those elements can be evolved in the next iteration from the lessons provided by SC:S - those who fight progress are those whose cities stagnate.
  13. DEDWD Art Deco Hotels

ACE! These are fantastic. Wollongong has a number of Art Deco buildings as well, but they aren't really looked after. They should do something like this, albeit on a smaller scale than Miami, but it would enhance the city nonetheless. Great job!
  14. The Tower

Nice lighting and texturing. Awesome job in the details!!!
  15. SYDNEY VS MELBOURNE

Sydney, of course. Partly biased due to a closer affiliation with the city. I have been to Melbourne a couple of times, and I do like aspects of the city, I find it is 'too' laid back for a city to be appealing. I prefer Sydney with its nice combination of bustle and tranquility, and the variety of bays around the harbour, with skyscraper development around some, while others seem set to live eternity in relaxed idyll by the waters. Melbourne is nice to wander around to find those little cafes and restaurants, but ultimately, it doesn't have enough to hold my interest to want to live there.
