You should try doing a CO$$$ version of Roth's.

Jason, I love your Art Deco and I can't wait for these two gems

I think the single most impressive thing about the Briscoe is the way you have achieved a generic texture for the back yet doesnt look monotonous or anything like a repeating texture. Of course, they both look really really good, as always.

Excellent Jason; you keep me absorbed in this game like no one else. 3.gif (I don't know if that's good or bad!) Looking forward for these to come on the STEX, and the police station too. 4.gif

    Thanks everyone!

Wrightguy0:  There may be a CO$$ version as well, though there will be a lot in the modding queue, so there may not be.

Swis_Canadian:  Thanks!  The police station and patrol car lot is with T Wrecks, being remodded so that it functions correctly.

I've gotten almost all of the modeling done for Nafmis Department Store.  It's not textured yet, but those are the colors.  I'll make sure that they look good in the game.  And there is some ground showing, but it will be deleted, that's just a plane I made to measure the 6x2 space.

    It's a 6x2 CS$$.

ilikehotdogsalot:  Thanks!  Yeah, this buildings is more along the lines of streamline moderne, while most of the art deco on the the STEX is earlier art deco from the 20s.

I've done most of the texturing now.  Still more tweaking to do though.  These last two BATs have been really fast, though I think they're turning out good.

Looks awesome, Jason - all of them!

It's nice to see you haven't stopped modeling buildings!

Oh! I absolutely LOVe this building, it's lines and colors! It is sooo Hercule Poirot and Brussels (well, apart form colors)!

And I must say you've reached new heights in texturing glass. This one looks better then real thing!

Curious to see how you've treated the backside of the building!

Beautiful, just beautiful, words cannot describe how wonderous nafmis is.

You've done a great job Jason

Man, you ARE fast! Excellent work on all of your latest stuff, especially on this very unique building. The colors blend well together, and I agree with SF about those window textures. 4.gif Nice detailing on those stair railings, they may be small, but every little thing counts. 9.gif

Ardecila:  Thanks!  Nice to see you around too.

SimFox:  I wasn't sure about the glass before, but with your stamp of approval, I didn't do as much tweaking as I was going to.  This will actually fill a 6x2 block, the back is the same as the front.

Gn_Leugim:  Thanks!  It will hopefully be in your plugins folder soon.

Glenni:  Thanks!  And I'm glad you like this style.

    Wrightguy0:  Thanks!

ky72x:  Yeah, these ones went really fast.  For both of them I knew what I wanted and how to make them which is why I think they went fast.  Thanks for noticing the railings.  They are small, but I think that their thinness gives the rest of the building a sense of scale.  When I plopped this building in the game it's not actually very big.

    nofunk:  Thanks! lol

ilikehotdogsalot:  Unfortunately they won't teach you about that in architecture school, though they'd tell you about other things.  Wikipedia and google can do though.  Thanks again!

Thanks for the support everyone.  I've exported Nafmis Department Store.  I guess now I should go down the list and post how things are going.

Nafmis Department Store:  Needs nitelites and modding.

Roth's Department Store:  Needs nitelites and modding.

Brisco's Department Store:  Needs nitelites and modding.

The Pylon:  Need to figure out anti-aliasing problem, needs nitelites, modding, and custom query.

211 West Fort Street:  Needs nitelites, planter prop, parking garage prop, modding, and custom query.

    One Woodward Avenue:  Still modeling/texturing.

    The Penobscot Building:  Still modeling.

Central Police Station:  With T Wrecks for modding.

    Bus Stop (lol):  Still modeling/texturing.

Needless to say I have a lot of stuff I need to finish, lol.

Superb! Beyond impressive even! I was concerned about the vibrancy of the blue, but now that I see it textured, I have no worries - it'll work. 4.gif And great choice of size too! I base most of my cities on 6X6 blocks with 2X2 parks in the centres - this'll be a perfect fit! Wish I could materialize my visions into more than just sketches like you can!

P.S. Is that the official lettering of the sign? Or will it be more art deco?

I think its looks great But.... you are missing a couple things.

    1. Master Chief from Halo jumping from a Covenant Ship onto the statue.

    2. Master Chief fighting off hordes of aliens.

    3. Lots of laser and explosions.

    4. A hamburger and some fries (cause I'm hungry).

    I love coffee and buildings.

Swiss_Canadian:  Thanks!  You need to quit school so that you can have time to learn BATing, lol.  The font is probably final.  I didn't find any more appropriate font in 3ds Max.  I'll go through again to see if I missed anything.  With my new computer it only took 17 minutes to export.

    mcarch:  Thanks!

Wolverine:  It was based off of the Ibex Building in London (found off Flickr searching for streamline moderne), but with less somber colors and design.  But yeah, it ended up being a lot like Knapp's.

Bixel:  That's an awfuly tall order.  3.gif

Oh wow, you outdid yourself with the Roth's and especially the Nafmis Department Stores.  Streamline moderne, owing more to the Bauhaus than the iconographically historicist modes of Art Deco, is just too cool.

Although you have already finished the model and the back, I can't help but use the opportunity to show this cool image by meckleychina on Flickr of the backside of similarly Art Deco styled Empire Mansions commercial building from Shanghai:

Empire Mansions by meckleychina from Flickr

Even in weathered decrepitude it still looks striking...perhaps even more suitably nostalgic or atmospheric of Gotham with the mixing of avant-garde architecture and outdoor clothes-drying lines.  Unfortunately, the frontside was remodelled into something rather ungainly, so we can only imagine how stylish this corner building must have originally looked.  Meckleychina's photostream has lots more great stuff like this.

And SimFox...Hercule Poirot?!  Omigosh, can it be that I am not the only one who read Agatha Christie or watched the Poirot series!

We never really saw much streamline moderne in north america, there is one building I can think of but not much else. It is one of the great overlooked styles of the early 20th century and I'm glad to see you doing this jason.

That's really well done Jason. I really like the shape of Nafmis. I have been toying with the idea of two large downtown shopping centres myself. This will make a great addition to my plugins when it's ready.
