I started this thread because a lot of people in the "Rate the Username Above You" forum game ask what the username means. Here you can share.

Mine is simple. Jack is my first name and Sunny is my middle name (Seriously, it is). :ohyes:

Well, "astro-" is from the Greek "astron", meaning star, and as a prefix means anything celestial or relating to outer space. And "Nelson" is a name, specifically mine. It is also a wrestling hold, but this is irrelevant.

Astrophysics is the physics of space, astronomy is the study of space, so Astronelson is the Nelson of space.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

As you might guess looking at my avatar, a Cobra Roll (in two words) is a common roller coaster element, originating from an aviation maneuver (as do most roller coaster elements, actually). It consists of a half loop which ends in a banked corkscrew, then the same element in reverse, so that you are flipped upside down twice and exits the element at almost the same spot through which you enter, going in the opposite direction. The element got its name from its visual similarity to a cobra, head raised and ready to strike.

When I have to shorten my username, I refer to it as CRoll, as it has little to do with actual cobras.

According to Paul Amadeus Dienach in his book "The valley of the roses", Johansen Terring will be the person that will end up all the wars once for good! I'm a big supporter of peace and diplomacy, so I select this nickname.

I just changed it from Ilikeseattle (because I was in Seattle when I created the account, did not want to give away my name, and could not think of anything original), now it is OcramSeattle because Ocram is my preferred Username.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Alejandro24 comes from my name, Alejandro -not from the Lady Gaga song- and the number 24 have many reasons

Is the next number of 23, that's a cabalistic number and sounds to trite to use.

Is the day that I born: April 24 of 1992.

In anykind of lists I'm always the number 12, 24, 36, 42 or 48.

There have been plenty of threads like this before, but what the hell, I'll bite again:

Duke = Duke Nukem, a video game character and an eponymous series of video games

(19)87 = the year I was born in

This was a username I came up with back in probably like 1996 or 97, for this thing some of you may have heard of called "AOL". About that time "Duke" was also my nickname at school.

Tarkus is the name of the second album by the progressive rock group Emerson, Lake and Palmer, released in 1971. It's also the name of the armadillo tank (or "tankadillo" as some would say) featured on the cover of the album, and in my avatar.

I'm a big fan of Emerson, Lake and Palmer and "prog rock" in general, and I wanted a good excuse to use that sweet tankadillo as an avatar. 8)

As you may already know, I have a passion for the game of cricket.

My username hittwice99 originates from a cricket method of dismissal, hit the ball twice (hit twice). Which simply means the batsman can be out if he strikes the ball deliberately more than once. I added number 99 because it would be unusual and extremely rare for a batsman to get out "hit twice" for 99 runs!

Well, I got lucky. My user name used to be N_O_Body because at the time I was thinking of Odysseus and the cyclops, but I had a brain storm later and, too late, realized that A Nonny Moose was better after I found my avatar on a free graphics site. So I put A Nonny Moose in my signature graphic which is a recorder capture of the game dressed up with a GIF editor.

With the switch to ST7, someone took pity on me and changed it to A Nonny Moose, which, by the way, is the one I try to get on any site on which I register. I am feeling proprietary about it. Some s.o.b. stole it on the Sims site, but I got it on the SC4 site and pretty much elsewhere.

I was interested in revealing as little as possible about myself at the time, but if you look at my profile now, you'll find out a lot.

"Odainsaker" is the name of my main character on the sword-and-sorcery MMORPG "Asheron's Call." As he was an Aluvian swordsman obsessed with horned helmets and playing in a fantasy landscape suggesting Dark Age Europe, I had researched for a romanticised Nordic or Wagnerian name. One of the Viking sagas I read followed heroes Erik of Norway and Erik of Denmark as they travelled to the paradisical "Glittering Plain," where stories told was located the Land of Eternal Youth and Life known as "Odainsaker." However, "Odainsaker" is more properly read as the "Acre of the Not-Dead," which the two Eriks discovered has a slightly less blissful connotation than "land of eternal life," as it was also a Land of No Return. Indeed, they have to first die if they want to be admitted entry into Viking paradise. In the online game, your character is automatically resurrected after death, so the theme actually fit rather nicely, and as all my real-life friends who play the same game have gotten used to calling me "Odainsaker" or "Odain" even outside the game, the name has conveniently stuck. My strutting axe warrior in the game has the slightly less poetic name "Thorkill," which in its descriptive way also rather brusquely fits.

Well Mobius comes from the discussions of the Infinity loop based on August Ferdinand Mobius. I was drawn to the loop from Brian Lumely's Necroscop series of books. Over time and with the help of university education the concept of infinity and the loop became a bit of a personal philosophy in life how every moment presents infinite possibilities.

Over time through my writing I developed Mobius into a conceptual deity based around the continuation of the universe through balance in all things. The Eye of Mobius is the deity's symbol I created and also the name of the deity's agents of the fantasy world that move about seeking to upset the machinations of the the unbalancing forces to maintain the infinite life span of the universe.

I used to have a bunch of hamsters as pets.

It's a terrible username, one I used on sites I didn't expect to actually participate on. My real life personality and physical appearance isn't anything like a small rodent.

I went with Ganaram DI because, at the time, I wanted variety in my usernames. I originally didn't want to use "G-DO-29--Anagram" as my account name for everything...

But now I do ("G-DO-29--Anagram" for deviantART, and the hyphenless "GDO29Anagram" for SC4D and YouTube), and I can't do much about "Ganaram DI". Luckily, the two names are still connected; Move just one letter in "Anagram" and you get "Ganaram"; Plus, as long as my avatar is more or less the same for all my accounts (dA, YT, SC4D, ST), it shouldn't be too hard to find out that it's all the same person.

The DI in "Ganaram DI" comes from the full name of Ganaram: Ganaram D. Inukshuk, which is a sort of pen name that I developed over the years. (More details about THAT name can be found here https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1456.msg359234#msg359234 )

It's also written on my icon thingie. :ohyes:

111222333444... Is a bunch of numbers (Not).

    1. 1+1+1+2+2+2+3+3+3+4+4+4=30. In 2010, When the coaches gave my football jersey number, I got number 30.

    2. I repeated the numbers 3x because I am the third child in the family.

    3. Me + my 3 siblings = 4 (That is why I repeated the numbers up to 4)

I graduated from Northern Michigan University. NO ONE uses NMU in their screen names. I also like comic books a lot, but I haven't actually read Spider-Man in years because Joe Quesada needs to be pelted with rotten tomatoes and they need to hire me as the lead writer to right all the wrongs done to the Marvel Universe under his reign of terror (specifically Spider-Man: how can a character so great be so screwed with until his books are just unreadable! TERRIBLE)!

My username is a little self-explanatory, but it actually has 2 meanings. The "usfighter" part comes from both my support for the US Air Force and it comes from me being a boxer, and I just so happen to come from America. How does 15 come in? 15 is my favorite number, and the number of my favorite jet- the F-15 Eagle

I prefer Corkscrews. Just saying 1.gif

Mines dead obvious. My first name is Nikolai, commonly abbreviated to Nik, and my last name starts with B. I used to go by the name of IRejectReality everywhere but I dropped that many years back now. Actually now thinking about it, I've used Corkscrewed a few times.... Wow. Actual full circle in one post.

My name "Munchiez" is commonly misread as Munchies, or food. However this is not true since I have a Z in the end.

I basically was making my account here on ST and remembered a google images search I did and thought "oh!, Munchiez!!!"

I think I'll join in here. Mine comes from the videos on YouTube known as YouTube Poops, where people mix and mash up audio and visual clips from CD-I Games and T.V. shows to create a strange but (I think) funny video. My username is also from the T.V. show Super Mario World, on an episode where Luigi finds Yoshi's egg and when it hatches, Yoshi thinks Luigi is his Mama. The 945 part is the numbers Steam suggested when I made a Steam account, and also the numbers for my favorite radio station, KOOL 94.5.
