I think Jason summarized it tersely, yet successfully.

As long as it is a productive argument, its safe. Enough said.

Sorry, I usually don't track mods in development, this is kind of my first one that I've been tracking (although the appropriate thread has turned into a proverbial train wreck).  But I think I've heard someone say that the MIS is closer than we think (I think it was you), so that makes me happy.  Btw, what does MIS stand for? And what is it exactly?  I've been on the SC4D forum, between pages 40-50, as you instructed, but I don't quite get the idea.  What is proposed to be included?

Mike: I'm sorry for this, but I am quickly getting frustrated with the bickering here.  I just want to know what is going on with the RHW, that's all.  And, every time I come back (at least within the last day or so), someone has counterpointed someone else's argument.  This may warrant a new thread, in my opinion. I just wouldn't know what to call it.  Maybe, "For all those who would like to debate RHW modifying in the context of additional members and 3rd party uploads". Just a suggestion...

PS - The only reason I posted all caps was because I heard (I think it was a mod) say in the last page that this thread may be locked if this bickering continues, so I am just trying to avert that.

MIS stands for Modular Interchange System...and it does what it sounds like it should do (that is, give you the tools to create custom-made highway interchanges to go along with the Rural Highway System).

Well...that's it in a nutshell, I believe.  I'd actually wait to see if a NAM team member will elaborate on it.

Well heres something that may be bring up controversy or not. Don't worry, I don't have plans to mess up the tcs (traffic control system) This is not transit lots, but what I call a mask. cashvillejan21301192751ut8.png

It may be buried somewhere in this thread...but if you're interested in seeing some pictures, they're in the RHW Thread over at SC4D.  Here's a [direct link to Pg. 2 of that thread] where you might find some succulent photos of  the MIS as it looked back in April...2.gif

The argument seems to be ending now. I don;t see the point anyway. The posts of this argument have created more activity in this thread than the last devlopment annoucments and comments on them. Its not that I'm saying it is slow or bad, it is just getting off topic more than it should. Someone designed a te lot for the RHW, who really cares if it is good or bad, the point of this thread is to talk about the RHW, it is not the "NAM vs. RHW" thread.

Not so long ago I had finally downloaded the RHW (and SAM) and started playing around with it today.

First I have some pics of it being used for the first time in Solaria, it will lead onto some discussion on things I have noticed with the RHW and at SC4D.

First the pictures

Waitakare-RHWwithIPSStop.jpg

Now I know the ramps have been worked on since this was started, and being over at SC4D having a look they are making good progress. Can't comment on a release date as like myself, work on things like this are done in our spare time. In saying that here is a RHW intersection with my IPS Meduim Rest Stop. The Lot is TEed hence the appearence of one way roads here. But anycase this is an example of what the RHW can do.

Waitakare-differentRHWconnections.jpg

RHW with an avenue intersection. Reading the threads and so on an update of the intersections is needed such as traffic lights, street lights and singage but again progress is being made there and even I am looking at some add ons for stuff like this.

Waitakare-theeasternForest.jpg

The East Solarian Forest where the RHW runs. This highway is State Highway One, the flagship highway in Solaria. Why am I showing this, to congraulate the work done so far on the RHW as the standard maxis highway would look stupid in a setting like this

Rangeview-needworkhere.jpg

And for a recap for people not surfing 88 pages (like me 43.gif3.gif ) This is the current situation of the RHW merging back to the standard 2 lane ANT, Now at the moment the best thing while the team work on this is to go RHW -> Ave -> ANT

I can do independent tests on stuff like if the teams needs so

Solaria-workhereonRHW.jpg

Whoops RHW goes missing on the transit network - something else that goes into the work cue. Anycase I'll play around with it and see what I get, a couple of my (unreleased) modds have been from accidental tinkering 3.gif

But for now the RHW has come a real long way since it was thought of 2 years ago and is looking good

Great work guys and if I can lend a hand in testing let me now

I've noticed the MIS is being worked on [drools]

Nice update on the Rural Highway. I may download all when everything's finished.

I'm still waiting for someone to create this...

JCarter -- Well said Oh my goodness... I glad I read this thread.. I had wondered what MIS stood for, remembering how i got jumped on by our fine friends at SC4Devotion I wasn't about to ask them... My question is... will the MIS only work with RWH. Are the interchanges similar to the ones that were released as eye candy... Its a shame that the eye candy ones don't really work because they are beautiful.

@Chocolate_City: The MIS is exclusive the RHW. I do believe Tarkus said it would work with the TLAs as well but Im not sure.

No, these will be fully functional interchanges, not eye-candy...as a matter of fact, I wasn't even aware that there were eye-candy interchanges at all...

Okay, a few comments to members:

azninoverdrive:   What a great idea! This is an excellent start, but doesn't the avenue intersection do the same thing? You can just convert your RHW to an avenue for this kind of intersection (and extending it 2 tiles further each way for turning lanes!) I understand what you are trying to do here, so, in order to make this RHW New 4 Way JCT even better would be to incorporate it with the RHW network rather than having a separate TE lot. Great work though!

masochist: I hope so... Although this wasn't the best way to get this done...  Oh, and the MIS system is designed to be a draggable network just like the RHW itself!

J-Dub:  Hmm.. I'm not too sure about that 6 lane RHW.  It just looks out of place in your images and it doesn't really connect well to anything.  There is a 6 lane RHW in the works (RHW-6 and 6C), so just be patient and there will be a fully functional network for use soon!

Palpatine001:  A few comments on your images:

-For your RHW/avenue intersection, I would suggest that you convert your RHW to an avenue so that the intersection will look better and function properly.  You can also extend your ave 2 additional tiles in each direction for turning lanes.

-For your Ave/ANT transition, try to convert your ave to a road, and then connect your road to the ANT.  It will create a much better looking connection.  There is also a 2 lane ANT texture that changes the ANT into a 2 lane RHW-2.  Its downloadable via my signature if you want it.

-Also, where did you find the mod for your transportation region view?  That looks great!

chocolate_city:  Where did you find those polpable networks? ( I know they are just eye candy)  Is there any chance you could provide a link?  Thanks.

haljackey... To be honest with you... it was a while ago.... I thought I got them from STEX... but if YOU haven't seen them before ...they must have come from somewhere else.... but for the life of me I can't think where. The only thing I can tell you about them is that the name of the group of files is HalpleUrgs' RHW Compliments .... Anybody else out there know where they can be downloaded from?. I can supply anyone with a zipped file (If that doesn't break any rules) if you send me an email address.

This thread is always of interest- lots of great ideas here.

@chocolate_city-

...remembering how i got jumped on by our fine friends at SC4Devotion...quote>

Could you PM me and fill me in on the details?  I didn't hear anything about what happened, and want all to be sure that we look into any complaint about misbehavior of that sort.

Thanks.

David

To be honest with you all parties involved were as guilty as one another.... The matter is settled, to go over again would just open a can of worms best left closed... I, personally will just download from there and will never ever get involved with the forums there. With that said, I appreciate your interest though..

azninoverdrive: Here are a few quick examples of how you can already create this type of intersection:

J-Dub:  If you want to  create  larger highways, I would suggest you take a look at my multi-RHW  guide (via my signature) to make wider,  more realistic highways that have better connectivity.

For everyone else inquiring about the MIS, you can just use one-way roads, streets, or even RHWs for ramps.  However, I DID find another interchange that works, but just doesn't look very good.  This interchange is found in the road menu, under avenue roundabouts/interchanges.

Before:

After:

Personally, I like the before photo better, but the after photo eliminates the intersection with little space taken up.

@ Haljacky: I love how you're so resourceful! You make such creative interchanges with so little resources! I cant wait to see what you come up with when the RHWMIS comes out!
