Not that, I tried the tutorial but I could not get it to work completely. I am talking about when the RHW with a four lane road that is totally connected, meaning all four lanes are pathed and a car can switch between any of the lanes, not two 2 lane roads. Is this ever going to be released?

Hi guys-

Healthy dose of RL today, so again, nothing new to show, but things really should be clearer schedule-wise for me, since I finished my last final today.

I can, however, answer a few posts:

BigSlark:  That has to be one of the most entertaining posts I've ever read on this forum.4.gif  Thanks for all the compliments and the free beverage offer.  I still consider myself only a mere mortal, and it's even beyond me how I do this modding stuff.2.gif

And don't worry about stealing my "thunder" . . . I did happen to see your post before you edited it, and you were actually about 75% correct.  There's even more to it . . . piece that together with another mod that someone else here had been working on but is on hiatus and you should have the complete idea of said experiment.2.gif

Of course, had it not been for qurlix, Swamper77, and memo, let alone any of the early modders who really had the hard job (the7trumpets, Tropod, etc.) of establishing the field of transit modding, I wouldn't have made it this far.

rickmastfan67:  That looks amazing!  I've responded back to your e-mail as well . . .

allan_kuan1992:  Thanks for stopping by and posting!  As far as the Modular Interchange System pieces go, they're still going to look a little funny right now, as I've mainly been focusing on getting them working.  The textures and models are going to get cleaned up quite a bit at some point.2.gif

BackRoads:  No, unfortunately, the wider RHWs (like the RHW-8) are not planned for the next release.

Well, everyone, look for an update with pics soon (finally!) . . . how does an interchange between 2 RHW-4s sound?

-Tarkus

Could someone make a patch that would change the texture of the one way roads to that of the RHW? That way you could run the one way roads paralell to the RHW to make a highway with as many lanes as you want and you wouldn't have to worry about the RHW glitch when you try to make an 8 lane highway. It can't be that hard to do, could someone make this??? I have tried myself but I am baffled as how to edit textures.

BackRoads:  I've actually worked up a different solution (which also was a side-effect of the aformentioned "experiment") for making the Multi-RHW setup much more stable.  Look for something relatively soon on that front. 2.gif

It would still be nice though if someone could make this texture as it would make the interchanges that use the one way streets look more natural. Heck, someone my as well make a texture mod that makes all the streets gray, and have each street mod in a separate .dat file so the user can choose which streets he wants to be gray, etc.

Glad I entertained you, Tarkus. I was up late working on a paper and was cruising the forums, this just seemed the natural thread to post in. And no, I'm not sure why it seemed like the place to be.

By the way, I don't know if you looked at my pathetic attempt at a CJ, but that region is close to built out and is in need of a major transit reconstruction. When MIS hits the stre, er, servers I'm intending to "compete" with Argentum. Watch out Tarkus!

At any rate, congrats on being done with finals, I've got Comprehensive Exams in my major on Friday, so I'm going into lurk mode.

BigSlark over and out.

Hi everyone-

Well, I'm going out of town for Spring Break (to visit my parents) and its unlikely I'll be around here much between tomorrow and the beginning of next month.  I will, however, probably still do some modding during that time.  Before I go, though, since you guys have probably been clamoring for an update, I did manage to build an interchange between two RHW-4s.  It's nothing spectacular, just a cloverleaf, but I did take advantage of a few things the MIS allows:

Overview

cloverleaf1uj4.jpg

Closer in

cloverleaf2qk9.jpg

Development in the middle of the ramps, closer up

cloverleaf3yx0.jpg

The RHW-4s crossing paths (note the unfortunate modeling flaws, which I will fix, so don't worry.2.gif)

cloverleaf4cv6.jpg

Well, there you have it.

And now to reply to a couple comments:

BigSlark:  Well, this is the hippest place on ST . . .  3.gif

Yes, I have seen New Mississippi--I wouldn't call it pathetic, either.4.gif  And as far as the competition goes, you're on.3.gif  (Really, I welcome it and I'm glad to hear that someone else will be using the system.)

Though Argentum probably won't last very long (being a Mini-CJ), so you'll more directly be in competition with Delos County (which the above pics give a hint of) . . .

And best of luck with your big exam on Friday!

Shingure:  I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling the NAM and the RHW mod--that always seems to help.  And the whole two buttons issue is completely normal.  I believe v17 will fix it.

Hopefully those pics should hold you all over for awhile and give you a taste of what's to come.  Look for a lot more in April with the start of Argentum (here and at SC4D).

Take it easy,

Tarkus

Nice work, Tarkus! I'm itching to get at the MIS, lets just say the A5(M) of New Mississippi is going to go away in a swift manner when it's released. Once I get the hang of the MIS and draggable GLR comes out I'm thinking of recreating my ancestoral home of Los Angeles, but with the current light rail system expanded to replace express buses. Hopefully I'll dream of SC4 rather than T.S. Eliot tonight.

Enjoy Spring Break and good luck modding over the break!

Terrific! I look forward to potentially giving Argentum/Delos County and New Mississippi a bit of competition once you release this awesome piece of work (check out Nyhaven's last two updates to get some ideas how). Bravo, Tarkus!

Hi guys-

Thanks for the compliments and encouragement.  I'm really looking forward to a little friendly RHWMIS-based CJ competition upon my return.  And rickmastfan67, don't worry, you'll be able to build smaller cloverleafs than that . . . that was just a rough test version I worked up.

Well, I have a couple hours drive on a RL RHW-2 ahead.  See you all soon!

I really love it, but it still looks kinda choppy... would it not be too much to ask to have more gradual curve pieces?

Will we be able to make elevated ramps? That way they can run above the current street system 4.gif.

As I recall from one of his previous posts, Tarkus is planning to make ramps at several different elevations; otherwise interchanges with or between elevated RHWs would be impossible. As a matter of fact, some such pieces already exist, as the BYSOI has a flyover ramp that crosses over the highway it connects to.

Shingure:

You have to have the NAM for it to work! Make sure the ANT pluign is there, as that is the network that is modded. Then install the RHW. It should be in the NAM folder, and in front of its name, you can put some Zzzz's to make sure it loads after the NAM.

I dont mean to be rude, but simply reading earlier posts will answer that question 2.gif. Tarkus said he is going to be visiting his home during spring break. Just thought that would help you instead of waiting for responses 4.gif

Well, no one has to wonder where I am anymore . . . I am officially back.3.gif

I didn't get too much modding done on my break (I needed a little time away from it), but I have everything almost ready with Argentum (check the CJ section this Friday), and have somewhat of a gameplan on how things will continue with the RHWMIS.   There may be some other surprises on the way, contingent on a few things . . .

I'll be back with more later this week.
