Wow, never knew about the street bridge, guess I never thought to try. I'll check that out.

I'd think bridges for this would be possible, as Swamper said there is some code, and Tropod got bridges for one-ways working.

why hasnt anyone banned this individual?  The hard working people at Simtropolis do this on their free time.  Perhaps if you were more motivated to read the directions and create your OWN additions to Simcity using BAT, you wouldnt be so angry.  Be it you cant download the bat or dont have the vocab. to read it, do NOT MAKE DEMANDS WITHOUT OFFERING SOME SORT OF COMPENSATION.  Donate like $100, contribute.

What is the deal with people? They always enter fourms and take them way off topic. Well anyways its looking good. Are there going to be any hov lanes sense the highways are being pretty much redone that is possible right? Oh well if there isnt I guess I can open up the le and make some that will look nice anyways.

Apparently I missed something...? But I guess the situation has been taken care of.

inuyasha fan: I'm thinking about HOV functionality, and it may be possible to add if we create two-tile wide sections with one side being HOV, but that might end up trashing either the super-highway idea or the access road idea, depending on how it's implemented. Ok...what I'm trying to say is that it's sort of possible. But we'll discuss it later. Remind me once the first edition is out.

bourneid: Everytime someone posts awesome pictures like that, I think of all the aggravating tile limitations we have! The first one, however, will be implemented, except probably without the slip lanes. (or whatever you'd call them)

big important question to everyone: Does anyone care about losing the original ANT? (as in the road textured one) Only speak up if you do. There aren't mods that use it anymore, are there?

I spilled Kool-Aid powder all over my hands (don't ask why), and, not thinking, I tried to lick it off, but the more I licked, the more cherry colored it got. Finally I stopped, but by then my hands were stained red.

    Qurlix,

I still use it as a rural 2 lane, bi-directional highway between two of my cities, mainly due to the fact I don't like the amount of space and costs of a ground highway. I did strip it out of the two cities because I anticipated a release of the RHW. I just finished relaying the ANT sections that I had replaced with road sections. If I must give it up, I will.

I've been away from this thread for a month (somehow) and it keeps looking better.  Can't wait til this is usable, I'll never use the vanilla SC4 highways again!

i dont know if it has been mentioned already, as i only skimmed a few of the pages; but what if, **in Addition** to pre-made access ramps/interchanges... there exists a thin little one-lane (half a road) that can only be dragged from the highway at appropriate angles (i.e. like the tracks) but intersect with roads and ave's at whatever angle?

that way we could make custumn (?large raduis?) ramps that could better blend with our cities (instead of the monsterous eye-sours current highway interchanges are....)

while this doesn't `quite` hit the hammer... but it shows how large they can be!
leave it to me to build a bridge into the middle of the loops just for a bit more space too! 9.gif

I don't know what the processes are involved in getting something like this going, but something that may be fairly simple - is there a way to at least get one-ways so that they can merge into/diverge from a road or avenue at a 45

    Sargentcm,

Some of the new junctions in the NAM allow what you are asking for. Diagonal one-ways intersecting ortho roads and diagonal roads intersecting ortho avenues and oneways are some of the new junctions. You can also join ortho roads/one-way roads with diagonal avenues as well. These last two don't necessarily have to go all the way across the diagonal avenue.

Of course, they don't exist for the ANT, so I'm going to have to search for all the resources in the NAM and copy and paste them into the RHW...

    Meanwhile, on the bridge front:
    rhwa13bridge6hn.jpg width=279 alt=Image
I don't know what I did wrong with the models. I just duplicated the street bridge...whatever. I'll try it again later.

gripp: I actually happened to be working on such an idea for the RHW...let me work on some other stuff quick...

I'll be back shortly with some other stuff to ponder!

    Qurlix,

I had the same issue while working with the Level Street Bridge. Tropod's solution was to edit the texture references via the Hex Editor in the Reader. After doing so, my missing models appeared correctly. The models/exemplars for the bridge sections need to follow particular number assignments. Could you email the textures to me, and I'll get the bridge together for you?

Hey guys, what is the status of this project.  I JUST CANT WAIT!!!!  Im developing my own freeway signs and once this is released, I would like permission to make a sign specifically for this project (kinda like the 1 way overhead signs, but for this instead because if I remember right, the highway lanes will be draggable in each direction no?).

Hang on, Street Bridges? I can't believe it if they have been done. I'm going to search in the NAM development thread and see if this is true right now. Correct me if i'm wrong.

    Buddybud and Lakeyboy,

The street bridge was added by me to the NAM. After I added it on my computer, I sent the files to Tropod for inclusion in the NAM. So the bridge is already in the Public Release version of the NAM (the one you downloaded). I basically cloned the Level Road Bridge models and then changed the Instance ID's of the models and the roadway textures. You just need to drag the street tool like you would when trying to make a road bridge. There is only one style available and that is Level Street Bridge. I don't plan to work on any others, as I have a long queue of projects and commitments to take care of...15.gif

Well, i worked on an project of mine a while back before sim city 4 crashed on me and i had it laying around.. i think it might fit here if you guys can modify it. Its essentially an road T ramps.. INstead of the road continuing onto the other side, it ends at the ramps.

The reason i stopped was that i realized i wasnt that good with the LOD's or chopping up models. Making it is a clinch, but otherwise.. ugh.

Maybe the guys on this project would be interested in implementing this? I made it for my farming communities and/or places where the road isnt viable continuing onto the other side. If you want, i can send the models over for you guys to do whatever you guys want to do with this.

here is the pictures of the two version (over and under):

How did you (BuddyBud) get those rails over roads/streets without tunnels?

    Dafiden,

The rails over the roadways are Rail Puzzle Pieces, a feature of the NAM. They are found in the Rail Menu. Buddybud used the OnSlope pieces to keep the rail line level as went from the ground level of the hillside to the puzzle pieces. Future questions about these pieces or the content of NAM should be directed to the NAM Open Discussion Thread.
