Your math is a bit off, there are now 968 posts remaining.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Most game sites die off after a few years of the release of a game, or switch to the sequel. ST has been SC4-based for nearly 10 years.

I wonder how much of this site will change when SC2013 comes out.

At the current rate we're not making it there until April. This thread has seriously slowed down from it's former glory - we're averaging barely above 6 ppd now. We used to be in the low 20s. If this keeps up, thread 3 will take until the end of 2017 to finish.

I wonder if the slowdown has anything to do with the thread not being pinned anymore. I doubt it had much effect, but still curious.

Very true... I've been a member at sites which died. Many suffered a slow painful death. They simply didn't diversify when the game went out of fashion and the sequels came out. I, too, wonder what will happen around here when SC2013 comes out. On that topic, some of the most recent changes here have been intriguing. Now we have Steam login, the Fetchly bot... very interesting.

Simtroplis diversified with the release of Cities XL and has started to diversify some more with the anticipation of SimCity 2013. If it had not done so, it might have started its death years ago, then there would be no good SimCity 4 fansites anymore.

Also, I find the Sims Social and the Sims Feeeplay fun enough when I do not have acess to the Sims 2.

It's not just this thread, all forum game activity has gone down. As, seemingly, has forum activity in general. Old members of the community are leaving and aren't getting replaced with new participants. That may change once SC2013 comes out but I also get the sense that with the growth of social networking, it's only a matter of time before the very idea of a forum in the classic sense goes the way of the cassette tape.

There seems to be a big decrease in the forum games, but there is a big group of new members in the SC13 forum. Other forums are still going well though, like the BAT threads and the CJs, although in the past few years all have had a decrease in members. It's sad to see older members go, but its good to see new people coming in. Hopefully they stay once SC13 is released, but if they don't, I don't see ST dying any time soon.

Repeated posts or texts in posts are common when the poster has connection issues. This is especially common if you use a tablet or smart phone.

I know I've definitely started posting less.

Apparently, I'm in the top ten for today, for Japan time at any rate.

Usually I see the biggest slowdowns around the times that the servers or the site itself are being upgraded or tinkered with somehow. Then it picks back up as the connection issues stop. As for myself, I won't be leaving any time soon. I already did that once, I don't especially want to do it again.

It's what happens when you hit "post" twice. A bit less untidy than having the same post twice (which is what used to happen), I suppose.

"Today's top posters" is actually top posters from the 24 hour period prior to the page being accessed. So it's the same regardless of your time zone.

The one thing I don't like about the dual-post being merged to one is that there is a significant delay, so when starting my CJ I wasn't able to get the second post reserved for table of content, important links, etc. because it kept merging to the first one. It was a little frustrating at the time.

And it makes for easy cleanup (the double post in a post thing), just delete one of them. Unless you're one of those annoying advertisers who has to repeat everything for emphasis. FOR EMPHASIS.

I never want to hear the same song twice in one day. This is a rule for me.

Sometimes I loop a song and listen to it for hours. But considering I listen to video game music most of the time, where there's no words or anything, I guess that's fine.

Even if it's video game music. I can't have the same track going endlessly. I usually like to listen to video game music much the same way I'd listen to any ordinary album, starting at the beginning of the game and progressing through it.
