I don't use auto-correct on my phone. I wind up with a lot of typos occasionally, however people can usually tell what I am trying to say - and I get odd typos from people texting me as well. If it is important I will proofread, but generally don't when texting. It'd be interesting to see some of the auto corrections I would have.

Oddly enough, as I am typing this in my web browser, it seems to think texting isn't a word.

Normally I would just delete a double post but this thread is the exception.

If my phone has autocorrect capability, it is not active and I am not aware of how to change that. Nor would I want to - there's enough damnyouautocorrect out there to make the whole idea unattractive. My phone at least has the capacity to put red underlines on words not in the dictionary, which is enough for me.

I use my phone to log onto ST at work. I know my employer monitors what we're doing on our company computers so I don't want to use that to do so.

But only if I get a moment where I have nothing else to do (hey, I ain't no slacker!), and usually only to check this thread.

I may also use my phone to log on if I am otherwise away from home without my computer for a while.

Maybe our friend up there is still a bit young for a phone. I didn't have a phone until I was 18, then I went phone-less from 20-25 or so. But that was because I had no money I wasn't using for drinking. Diet Coke.

I don't understand how some people can go through phones so fast. It's been seven and a half years since I got my first cellphone (scary thought: I've been on Simtropolis longer than that), and I am only on my third.

Then again, I am on my fifth camera in the six years since I got my first.

I had a phone before college that had one of those monochrome displays, a cheesy, cheap flip-phone that was free with the plan I signed up for after college, an awesome phone I could watch TV and videocall on the last time I was in Japan, and we looked at getting smartphones this time, but ended up with normal, run-of-the-mill units that do everything we ask them to do. That puts me at 4. Next phone will be next year, I suppose, so long as AU offers us a no-cost upgrade.

Well you either find ways to break it, drop it in a toilet, puddle during a rainstorm, or find out when you switch providers they won't carry your current one.

I managed to keep one of my phones for five years without breaking it. It certainly looked like crap and was way out of date by the time I got rid of it, though.

As for switching providers, I never have and never will unless Verizon either stops existing or commits some really egregious offense. I'm a pick something and stick with it sorta guy, I'm not the type to be constantly chasing the next best deal.

Besides, there would be significant disruption and inconvenience caused if my number changed... something which would be inevitable if I switched providers.

It's probably true that older flip-phones are more durable than smartphones. Exposed screen is susceptible to breaking. I lost a camera that way.

7320 New topic. What should be in the iPhone 10 when it comes out? I think 3D video calling to other iPhone 10s or higher would be cool also an awesome camera and some good pre-installed apps.
