Analog or analogue?

I have ever seen anyone spell it "analogue" prior to just now, and it just doesn't look right to me. It's "analog". Firefox accepts both, though.

Irony is, I personally insist on the spelling "dialogue" for exactly the same reason: "dialog" just doesn't look right. Again, Firefox accepts both.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

I really wish we could have a dryer here. You have to hang dry all your clothes in Japan because there's no such thing as a dryer. You could always take your laundry to a coin laundry, but it costs about $1 for 8 minutes worth on the dryer.

One of those cultural things, I suppose. Americans want things done fast. And since energy has always been cheaper here than in Europe or East Asia (because we have plenty of domestic resources), we've been less concerned with it.

Of course, there's a flipside to the energy argument. If you remove shirts from the dryer and hang them up while they are still hot, they do not wrinkle. As such, I do not own an iron and would have no use for one. Save some energy that way.

All the laundromats in New York have gas-powered (natural gas, that is) dryers. More cost effective than electric. The one around the corner from me is a quarter for 10 minutes on the dryer.

The only time we use our dryer is when it's raining.

Back in the Philippines, We don't have any dryers, so we hang our clothes, rain or shine :P

and apparently our sheets smelled better there than here in Canada :P

It rains more where I live now than any other place I've called home. The sea and the mountains combine to make unpredictable weather that's soaked my drying clothes more times than I can remember. It's frustrating.

That's the problem in general with hanging clothes to dry outside. They're vulnerable not only to rain, but also to bird droppings, pollen, and other stuff that comes off of trees.

And it does not work when the temperature drops below freezing!

Well, therefore, clamps exist, use them and there has to be heavy wind to blow them that far ;)

1. I have not visited thus thread for a while.

2. I use analog for non-encrpted signals and analogue for imitations.

3. Since I have proven beyond a doubt that deleting posts does not cause any bugs in the new system, why do you strike out a double post instead of deleting it?

4. Drawls are slurred or unsophisticated accents, theoretically one can pick one up in their neighbor's yard if they spent most of their childhood there.

5. We live in the rainiest major city in continental USA, Atlanta might receive more inches but we have the least amount of dry days. Therefore, we ALL have dryers. Some of us hang up laundry indoors if they have a room that won't get mildew and some of us use an outdoor clothesline in the summer.

In Aus it doesn't really rain much except in winter.

You sure about that? It rains far more in summer than in winter. That's why all the floods happen then.

That is a HUGE frustration here: winter hang drying. It was worse where we lived before, it's not quite as cold here as it is up there. Wind is also AWESOME for helping to dry clothes. With how humid it is here, there's even a struggle getting clothes dry in the summer heat. But yeah, pollen is nasty. Haven't had any bad luck with bird droppings, though, so at least there's that. Which reminds me of how much I hate birds.

Because I still see deleting posts in this thread as messing things up. It ends up meaning that 10,001 posts were actually made in the thread, but one was deleted.

I have already paid a steep price for testing the new software and I find double posts unnecessary and spammy so I delete double posts and edit posts that accidentally duplicated themselves in one post. I also proofread my posts most nights because I post most from my phone, which is hard to type on and the autocorrect makes odd replacements.

Then again, autocorrect fixed half a dozen things in this post alone.
