We have seen a prototype iPhone 6 (fictional) used by T-Pain. We still have mother's older 2 cell phones (black Motorola slightly smaller than wireless home phone, and small red Motorola). The iPhone 4 has glass on both sides so you would need to get a case if you want a realistic time frame for usage (I have an Otter Box with screen protector built in, blue) at the very least, you need that little ring around the outside to boost the signal.

I'll never buy an iPhone, and I've never used a smartphone, so I have no idea what features are even on them now. I basically need texting and a camera and that's about all I use besides the whole phone thing. It does make me mad that my current phone won't let me put my Terrible Terry Tate ringtone to tell me when I got mail ("YOU GOT MAIL BABY! WOO!"). So, it would be nice to buy the iPhone 10 if it lets me do that. Admittedly, I'm not asking for much.

The iPhone 10, that must take a while...

3d is a must have I think. Probably iris recognition unlock, that would be awesome!

There are three things I primarily use my phone for - music, internet, and games (right now I'm focussing on Final Fantasy 2, after which I shall move on to Final Fantasy 3). I don't often make or receive calls or text messages.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

I make significantly more calls than I receive. But perhaps balancing that out, I receive far more text messages than I send.

I've been using my cellphone a lot more since I moved out. I don't have a landline in my apartment so it's my only phone now (outside of work, anyway). In contrast, there was no cell signal at my parents' house, so I used to have to use their landline - my cellphone was only good when I was out of the house. And when I was away at college, I saw everyone I cared to talk to often enough that phone calls were mostly unnecessary.

I may occasionally pull up maps on my phone, but only so I can look things up manually. Full-on GPS nav systems are annoying. That the device tells me what to do is insulting to my intelligence. I can figure out where I'm going on my own, thanks, I don't need no stinkin' computer to tell me. And I am not cool with just trusting the device to get me where I need to go (because they're never wrong, rght?). I need to be personally conscious of where I am and where I'm going.

Besides, it's rare for me to be taking the fastest, most direct route when I'm going somewhere new. :D

I find it amazing that technology has developed so much in the past 15, maybe even 10 years, that cell phones came from simply being a phone to a texting-tweeting-gaming-IM'ing-music playing-internet browsing-navigation-AND HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL, YOU CAN UPDATE YOUR FACEBOOK STATUS EVERY 5 MINUTES FROM YOUR PHONEGHALSFWUTDVLAJSHLIQUGSDAB device. :whatevs:

I happily don't own a phone. My parents bought me one last year - it was just a regular $15 flip-phone, Heaven forbid - but I didn't even need it.

@Duke 87:

Why does my brain always have a black out when I post those numbers?

I have an iPod touch, I'm posting from it right now. It is almost like a smartphone of course, except for the phone part. I do have some basic nokia, but I've only used it two or three times...

I used to love The Harlem Globetrotters! My mother lives out in the suburbs (I'm from the city) so I actually do need directions.

When driving through Tokyo it's nice to have the woman (I named her Shizuko, because she's so quiet) telling me what to do because I hate to look down from the road when I'm surrounded by bumper-to-bumper traffic at speeds anywhere above idle. I love my car too much for a careless fender bender.

@Spidey: Good to know I'm not the only who names their GPS. :P (She's named Debbie)

I'd love to create a custom GPS voice that sounds like an irritated woman. Whenever you take a different route, she would say, "Fine. I guess we'll go that way." Or maybe, "Y'know, I think you should've turned the other way, but hey, you do know what you're doing. Why would you ever need me?.."

I would assume it is easier to do whichever you are used to. Some people will handle switching from one to the other fairly easily, others may find it impossible. Depends on how good you are at mentally reversing things.

OK, I just read the Wikipedia page about driving on the left side versus the right side. The only reason most of the world drives on the right side was because of the way teamsters' horse drawn freight buggies were set up in the USA.

What would be funny, would be to hack your enemies' GPS devices to make comments like GPStress (I saw one years ago when accompanying my sister shopping).

I'm American and thus spent years and years driving on the right side of the road. Having a car this time in Japan wasn't really a challenge, although there are two incidents where I caught myself about to mosey on down the right side of the street, one of them turning left out of a green light into the cars waiting at the red light. The driver who saw me laughed like it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen, even though I was heading right for him (at a very low speed). I don't think it's that difficult, to be honest, although occasionally watching an American movie or TV show I'll be like, "OH MY GOD, THEY'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY- oh no, that's right, different country..."
