True, no more PFB, but that was never the issue, the issue was that long threads lag and become clunky.

Yes, they lag and become clunky, in the old forum software. It is yet to be tested how well they work in the new forums.

I just think it would be a bit more interesting than another 10,000 post thread, something different to count to.

But Im sure we will have this discussion again in another 2000 posts, and maybe again in another 12,000 if we change the limit

Here's the thing of it: we've already established for this thread that 10k is the goal, and changing the rules after the game has started just isn't sporting. I suppose we could make the next thread a 20k thread, though I really don't see what benefit there is to that. It puts half the thread into five digits (again, clunky), and it's not quite as nice of a round number.

(let's also not forget that if you change the rules, it becomes more difficult to compare statistics)

Yeah, although my numbering scheme would get messed with. As you may have noticed in my stat sheets, I refer overall to posts by {thread number}-{four digit post number}, with "0000" in theory representing 10,000, though I haven't had cause to invoke that yet. So, this is overall post 2-6027.

Problem is, when you count higher than 10,000, four digits isn't enough anymore. Could go to five, but since we're not counting to 100,000, then it doesn't work cleanly. I suppose I could just increment the thread number up and go from 3-0000 to 4-0001 anyway, but then that would be on a post numbered "10,001" - not unmanageable, but unsightly.

How's this for a crazy idea: do 20,000 in one thread but reset the numbers after 10,000. Thus counting to 10,000 twice in one thread. Keeps things cleaner but still results in a longer thread and something slightly different.
