I've had a couple multi-thousand piece puzzles that I've worked on with my sisters but we've never been able to finish one. Because inevitably we get to "we're having company over, you need to clear that table off" before we have enough time to. And we try to move the half finished puzzle onto a piece of plywood or something to temporarily move it out of the way but of course it just ends up falling apart. And then we lose interest.

My dad has a regular 3x3 Rubik's Cube and a 4x4. I sometimes try to solve them, but ultimately give up after about 3 minutes.

I hate puzzles that exist in a bubble just for puzzle's sake (Rubik's cube, etc.). But I love real life puzzles (how does this work? How did that get like that? How do I make this happen? Etc.).
