All the shops here seem to have a sufficient number of checkouts. Woolworths is a bit busy at times, but the lines move at a decent pace.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Yay! My very first post!

Usually there are a lot of checkouts at WalMart. The WalMart here has 10 checkouts and 4 express checkouts.

They still have Woolworths in Australia? I thought they went bankrupt 15 years ago!

Much like the Australian and US television stations named ABC, Woolworths Ltd. is completely unrelated to any other Woolworths, aside from the fact the F. W. Woolworth company is its namesake. It made a $2.6 billion profit in 2008, with revenues of $53.7 billion and 200,000 employees, 175,000 of which are in its supermarket division.

On a side note, the Australian ABC had the acronym first (1929 compared with 1943, state-owned and funded since 1932), but NBC's Blue Network, the American ABC's predecessor, began two years earlier than the Australian ABC.

What is Woolworths?

Woolworths is the high end department store in the UK. However, an unrelated supermarket chain, which is also called Woolworths , operates around Australia.

What is Woolworths?

They were a chain of discount stores similar to Target or Wal-Mart. One of the first, actually, going all the way back to 1879(!). But they went out of business in 1997.

I remember Woolworths vividly, but some of you kids here might be too young to. :P

Unless, of course, you live in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, or any other country that has a chain called Woolworths. :P

What about T.J. Maxx and T.K. Maxx? In the US it's "J" but I saw "K" in Ireland. Anyone wanna explain that one?

My interview was yesterday. Hired on the spot. I start next week.
