I used these when I was first starting to get the hang of SC4, but now I think that they are out to control my city! I was wondering if anyone uses those monsters, of which one was threatining that rats would run through the street, another one said that if I didn't give the healthcare industry more moolah, I would have to face the consequences? What does that mean anyway?

So basically I was wondering if anyone still uses and or pays attention to them. If you don't feel free to complain about them. 9.gif2.gif

I think they are still usefull from time to time, when you have access to new stuff, cancelled deals or are going over power and water. Other than that they pretty much are just as a showcase. Atleast they are better than the silly Simcity 3000 advisors, but still doesnt beat "YOU CANNOT CUT BACK ON FUNDING" guy. 4.gif

the advisers are a great part of simcity, however i play my cities on hard and have pop ups turned off, but i can still see urgent advice so i know when to change my plants or new civics are unlocked

After a while they do become superfluous - I haven't actually listened to them in months.

I only actually pay attention to them when they report a strike or a fire.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Well, I have buggi's .dll, so funding is never a problem for me.  I run on hard so advisor popups are infrequent.  Lately, I've made a change in my style of play and sometimes rewards come on thick and fast.  I just close the panel, and do them when I get around to it.  Overall, I often make fun of the advisers by using the dollyllama command.  The junk they spout seems better coming from a ruminant.  These guys are there to try our patience, and to try to run you.  Just don't let them.

As for MySims:  The first thing I turn off in a new city is UDI.  It is just a nuisance, as far as I am concerned.  I occationally place a MySim for diagnostic reasons, like if I can't get a handle on why some buildings think they have a long commute.  I drop one in, and follow him to work.  I usually exit a MySim within fifteen minutes of selecting it.

One thing I enjoy is calling the cops on strikers.  I up the funding and call the cops.  The only time I don't do that is if the school or clinic is in a really full state, and I am either going to replace it or build an other one next door.  Blowing up a striking building blows up the strikers, too.

Lately, I've been taking a more leisurly attitude towards the game in general.  I find myself running on turtle for quite a while when getting going.  You get more time to get things in place before the action starts.  Maybe I am just slowing down with age, but I am getting more out of the game, too.

I NEVER use MySims since it always crashes and forces me to delete the city. The advisors, meh, I use them when I get civics and strikes only.

"You are letting pollution into our water supply mayor! THIS IS A CRIME! I have a court order that says to shut down all water pumps and towers, and until you do something about it, THIS PUMP IS PUMPING NOTHING BUT AIR!!! Why wasn't I in court, since it is my city???? You can't run my city ,idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to actually teleport inside the file that holds the advisors data in Program Files and flog all of them half to death. Very rare for you to play a game and come across toads like them. 7.gif

I sometimes mock the advisors by giving them the old dollyllama cheat. I much rather see them spew all their garbage at you, coming from a dirty animal.

Before I found out I could disable popup windows, I wouldn't read one word of their stuff. Just slam the door in their face.

To conclude, advisors were one of the worst ideas ever for the SC4 series. Same for MySims. Rarely will I even use MySims.

I use advisors for stuff i need to know about, like traffic jams, water and power stuff and other urgent things like that. I also use MySims sometimes just to drive around the town, since i really like the UDI. Number 1 reason why i don't have subway/metro system in my cities is because they don't have UDI 4.gif

It's still very annoying when advisors just popup to tell you everything is okay. Why would i need to know everything is okay when they always tell me if something is wrong. 34.gif

I hardly ever use the advisors anymore.  The only useful one to me is the reminder that one of my power plants is getting old or about to blow up.  Of course I have to listen to the one telling me of some teacher strike or hospital strike.  Other than that, I don't find them too useful.

I don't even listen to the ones saying there is a strike. And I can tell if my plants are going out. My cities aren't big enough to get lost in.

Well! I've never had them die on me. After they have floated up to heaven are they replaced? I often use the command 'dollyllama' to make them into the animals they are.

When I first started to play the finance adviser hated me, now I use a money tree solves that problem. The only one that bothers me the most is the "tree huger"

Advisors are both useful and annoying. I always listen to them in case of old power plant, out-of-control crime, strikes, traffic jams, rewards and pollution. But... "dying water" because of very small pollution levels? "Dangerous roads" because of some extra roads? O.K., now this is really stupid >.<

MySim is nice and entertaining. It's very fun to select jet packs and tanks or SimMars rovers for your Sims. U.D.I. is my favourite addition, even if in 3D ill be really awesome :)

The only advisor I really hate is that stupid environmental advisor. Especially when she decides to shut off my water pumps. You can't do that, this is my city!!!!!!!

I usually avoid the advisers since I mostly play on turtle or slower and micro manage the graphs and data views and query a lot. My simoleons are usually always below 10,000 or more frequently even below 5,000 at which the finance advisor would be having viens bust from her head normally two/three times a month. The plus side is that my budget is always in the black so I have time to look at all the data support while I wait for funds to show up.

Thus advisors are relegated to only critical problems for me.

I am looking forward to having bigger populations once I get a new computer because I really want to try and push the budget and taxation to a point where I am making more money than cheating while having a stunning city.

Ever since I found out how to disable the "Urgent Advice Dialogues" I've never really paid much mind to my advisors...especially the Environmental advisor, who is always whining about a lack of tress when just about every empty space in my cities are occupied with parks of some sort. I've never used the MySims feature before, and I only use the UDI to unlock rewards a bit sooner than I should have them... :sly:

I sometimes use My Sims to get a good overview of the health/education in that Sim's area, although I guess the data views can do the same.

I don't listen the advisors... supossed that I am a dictator, so literaly I execute them  . Instead to read their messages, I see the graphics and maps and I take my own decitions and conclusions. I don't use the sims oftenly, only when I try to have my own Secret Police for a better control of the cities.
