I think his long absense is strange,even some BATers who are dead and gone poke their heads in now and then to check PM's, lurk a little, he hasn't even logged on for nearly 2 years..all that hard work just completely bought to an abrupt halt

And it's not just some BAT that will probably never get released - it's 500 Fifth Avenue! It was such a great moment this summer (my first time in NYC) when we walked around the corner, and bang! There it was right in front of us.

He's very much alive. I have him on Facebook. But the crucial moment was when he got banned here on the SImtropolis. I think that after that he never really planned to get back here. He once told me that after spending 2 months away from Simtropolis, he really lost the will and habit to work on his BATs.

But I can't speak on his behalf. I'll send him a message about this.

I'd fully second that.

Plus, he was a skilled, accurate BATer as much as he was an extremely proficient guy, and good critic.To me, losing him had meant, for the whole BATing community, an even greater loss than just his BATs - which, as you can see, are a great loss in themselves.

Yeah, a great critic and an inovator, without him and BAT4MAX we wouldn't be where we are now.

Shame he didn't contiune, there many BATers that do not use Simtrop as their main site...Girage, Moonlight, Xannepan, Sam Johnston.

Well, I can understand how some people - especially younger ones, and among these younger ones particularly those who grew up with the North American ideas and standards of politeness and discussion - had their difficulties with him, but I must confess that I miss not only his BATs, but also his factual input and his "lectures", which I found hilarious in some cases. Sometimes, when someone said something stupid or backed up his position with really bad arguments, you could almost pull out your stop watch and count the minutes before another lecture by Professor SimFox appeared on your screen, and no doubt it would take every badly constructed argument apart, down to sub-atomic level. The thing is, there always was lots of knowledge and information in those rants, but you sure had to know how to take him. Ah, memories... I think he p***ed off Dirk royally, though.

I'm surprised to he never made his own site or Page, similar to some of the Japanese BATers which he had full control over and we could of posted on there so he still had imput into his work etc?

I'm sure once you stop BATing and playing the game it's easy to just lose touch, give up and never fire up Max and havea play...at the same time, oldies are always rearing their heads and getting back into it, so maybe one day I live in hope that he will grace u with his presence and skills again.

True, but he was rather young himself, and not everything he said was correct: further, if challenged in any way his usual response was to launch into a very vitriolic diatribe.

The work he did in awakening the community to other ideas about 3D modelling was invaluable, but there's a very old idiom that states 'you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar', and I think he would have done well to understand that.....in fact, I remember seeing you reminding him on more than one occassion that after all 3D modelling was just a hobby and pixels on a screen

It's a shame that he had to leave this website though! I think he's a tough but true and fair kinda guy... It's understandable that he's in absence mostly out of protest though... I did the same thing several years back! haha

He-out-of-any-guy would mostly like Simtropolis over any Simcity website though! More traffic, more discussion, more professional layouts, etc! I'm now unbanned from a number of websites... but I prefer to stay exclusively with Simtropolis simply because It's Canadian and I support Canadians more than any other country. Just hopefully Simfox won't drift over to la francais!
