    Distance from the road is more from 1.6 m, on both projects. One side is around 3m and the other other is around 0.7m, cause of that extra terrace on the right side (see first render). If i make the building W2W on that side the distance would go around 2m. And on my other project (200 E. 84 St.) the distance is around 3m for both sides. Is that bad? :O The lengh of all walls are pretty accurate so it's shouldn't be something wrong with the building. I think that's just how it is.

     

    I am messing around with materials right now for fun :P I need to go see that night lighting tutorial from Jasoncw again..

    Is kinda bad to me your walls on your apartments will not line up with anybody that makes great w2w buildings, like Jasoncw, Nofunks, Simfox, Vlasky and I. :)

    When is comes to modeling in Sim City or any game you have to find a way for the buildings to fix right.

    Hm so you are saying that you guys make all of your buildings 1.6 from the street? If you put it that way i could do some adjustments and make it 1.6m. I could do that ;)

    If if have a building with a canopies that lead to the door, they can go 1.6 meters of the lot, just in case the building grows on NAMs three lane owe ways and the single tile four lanes. :D

    Hello everybody,

    I am back to sc4 and batting for good and i am working on a project. It's an apartment building (same style of the ones Aaron is working on) i had seen a long time ago, located at the corner of 90th St and Central Park West. I haven't got too much yet but it was harder for me than what you can see in the render, i haven't touched max in a year :/ All is good now and i'm working much faster on it. Some renders:

    Edit: anyone knows why the images seem kinda blurry?

    The building looks good but there are two things I want to draw your attention to:

    1:The corners of northern elevation of this building are rounded.

    2: I might be wrong on this one but it seems to me that the windows are generally too narrow in comparison to their height.

    Wow, I thought we had lost you for good - but now you're back! :golly: I haven't checked against real-life photos, and Seraf tends to be very thorough and observant, so I assume he has a point there (or two, that is), but apart from that, what I'm seeing here is definitely Aaron quality, and that's supposed to be a compliment. :) Can't wait to see some textures on this thing!

    Well, at least I would delete the frames in the middle, looking like a prison window :/

    Actually it isn't a good sign if you see T Wrecks has last posted on a thread that was left abandoned D:

    But it seems like retro is in again, all those long lost people are comming back :uhm:

    Looking really good!

    First and second the windows look cool in my opinion, and in the third I think it's looking too narrow because it's not on SC4 angles and it's resized, maybe is due to that.

    Hey guys, thanks a lot for your replies :) And i think it's pretty obvious that T Wrecks is the reason this thread was left abandoned! :yes:

    But yeah, i forgot to mention that, i know that the corners are rounded, i just left it like that for the time cause it was easier to work with straight edges.

    I made some changes at the windows as well, hope it looks better now. Not as much as i was hoping for an update but i had to make the upper part again, lost some time there. Will have more really soooon.

    And as always that random render of the building again. In case you haven't figured it out yet i really like that side of the building :D  I think it looks fun. Oh, and please ignore the texturing, i spent 20sec on it just to get rid of the plain max colors. The IRL building has whiter brick than that and the window texture i used is actually some random sea waves picture. (?...lol, i'm quite the texturing master)

    Looks great :)

    About the image quality you can increase it inside 3ds Max in the render settings, but if you mean they're losing quality when you upload it maybe you should change the host, I use Flickr, it doesn't lower your image quality.

    Well, the image quality when i upload at host is 100% (i use some free upload site cause i'm too lazy to even register, although last time i tried with google+ and got same problems), but when i post here it looks blurry. When i click the "preview" on the replying menu it looks normal. Maybe i'm just bad :P

    Did you change anything o.O Or is it just a ground map being added?

    Anyway, nice building, remind me of good old W2W days. Some old school poly modelling. 

    I don't know about the quality though, I don't even think there's a lack of quality D:
