Trust me the only impressive highways I see are blue lightnings and some other people . Maxis highways shouldn't really be called a legitiment highway cause there capacity's are way out of wak and they don't even look good . Now if you utilize the maxis highways with RHW and NAM one way roads and other pieces you can succesfully create a decent looking highway .

Roger, that is beautiful! I tried using the Olympic terrain mod, but I had trees placed with the Columbus terrain mod, and when I installed the Olympic, the trees from the Columbus disappeared and I couldn't build over them without a CTD :( I really like the Olympic more than the Columbus.

@nathanthemayor - cool pic, is that sign in the game, or post production?

It was modeled in GMAX, then GIMPed into the photo.

Would anyone be interested on a mountain road that goes so upwards as to be above the perpetual snowcap limit?

This here is the Camino del Monte Ráfagas (Road of Mount Gusts)--most elevated road in the region, as it goes well above the permanent snows limit (most other roads of similar elevation in the region have tunnels just a bit below the permanent snows limit).

MonteRfagasPueblitodelCararea02.jpg

This here is a tiny village it services--currently half of the traffic the road gets comes from this place.

MonteRfagasPueblitodelCara.jpg

For comparison, I bring this other tall road of the region--located at Monte Colmillo (Mount Fang), this one has a breathtaking view to the Boca de Lobo (Wolf's Snout) waterfall, at the Cañón Rugiente (Roaring Canyon). If you notice the road's upper portion, you'd be able to see the tunnel it has just below the permanent snow limit.

And here I bring another scenic highway--this time it's the Río Neblina Freeway, along the rugged terrain of the river bearing the same name. This freeway is much more challenging because of the extreme steepness of the slopes, making it impossible to route it along a single slope throughout its entire stretch. In order to cope with the slopes, several bridges are needed, even if only to go across the side of a river bend. You can also see its setting--a really deep mountain valley, due to the snowcapped mountains surrounding it.

Actually, I did not realise there were two more pages when I posted that comment, and meant to edit it anyway, but I will just say I really need to learn how to use mods because I am wondering if Sim City 5 is going to come out anytime soon with some cool graphics and allow you do actually do something. It's a pity one has to go through so much modding to get basic reality. I mean I know there will always be mods, because you can always make the game better, and I love Sim City 4, but really it was lacking in many areas.

I come here to re-define "most scenic highway"--how about this one? (experimental, will include one like this in my future Emeraldian Isles region):

This is the bridge of the Cascada Afuera--named like this because it's the outermost of the waterfalls on the Gran Volcán de las Aguas (Great Volcano of Waters--an extinct volcanic crater in middle of the deep jungle)

CascadaAfuera.jpg

Here we have the general view of the area--this is where the magic happens:

GranVolcndelasAguasE-O.jpg

And here's the magic!:

GranVolcndelasAguasCrterB.jpg

And this is the best seat in the house to see it all:

Finally, we leave the area, through this magnificent bridge:

Holly cow, Dragonxander's highway is awesome :golly:

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." - Frank Zappa

"The wisest men follow their own direction." - Euripides
