How about a mod (or a few different variations of a mod) that changes either the speed of which the sun goes through it's cycle? Variations being speed and I imagine someone being clever enough to be able to have it match your computers clock, be nice to know the real time when playing 3.gif .

Anyways, an idea that I thought was neat and I'd share.

1. the time speed thing is a good idea; and possible i think, though i've never seen the files.

edit: no edit needed because i never looked for those files....tomorrow for sure!

2. there are some maps that are not in use or still locked. i didn't play on too many PO maps so i'm not sure which ones they are. i can mess with some numbers and see what i come up with.

edit: i unlocked those maps. i will either post a link here (or in a new thread) for the patch or i could just include it in globexco's unlocker v2 (i'm not a fan of 500 patch files in my paks folder).

the unlocked buildings that i can remember are: 

The Valley

The Three Valleys

The Crater

The Rolling Plains

The Grassy Canyons

The Cliffs

The Coast

The Shattered Coast

The Great Lake

The Coastal Bay

i just have to finalize where the little circles are to be placed. you don't want them out in the ocean or out in space right?

i'm also trying to unlock the other buildings that MC didn't finish. CXS and GC both have good tools to accomplish that...i hope.

Many already are, via the unlocker mod, the rest I am sure will drift in over the coming weeks.

It can be planned for a future version of the unlocker.

There are severals PO maps that are still locked, the most difficult part is the create new coordinates to put in the right place on the planet the maps...

Hi gang, love what you folks are already doing but let me ask to see if any of you know how to fix / modify the following items.

1.  Snap-Grids when dropping development zones.  Example:  Trying to do a square 2x3 and 1 of the blocks doesn't fill in and I have to go back and fill them in 1 at a time.

2.  When you use the terra forming tools, the landscape colors and textures do not change with the elevation.

3. Memory leak which makes switching building types, tools very slow [have to camp to planet view to fix] (willing to pay $100.00+ to see this fixed).

4. Some sort of server module for my wife and I to do trades between computers. (probably reaching here...)

5. Fix for 1 billion dollar money cap.  My City is generating several million per month yet my total cash on hand keeps resetting to 1 billion.

6. Traditional Highway off-ramp (like in SC4). [thus making highways useful]

7. Interchange between Highways and freeways. 

8. Tunnels always seem to have issue with their graphics where the land covers up the entrance to the tunnel, can this be fixed?

i guess i could attempt to answer some of the things:

1. i'm not 100% sure what you're asking. however i do know there are some mods that can change the way you place zones. i believe generation-city made one, and cities xs made the other.

2. each map has a linking xml file that designates where each of the textures will go; map heights is in another file. so of course chaning the height doesn't change the textures, as you well know. linking the two would be a pretty distant fix, i think.

3. MC struggled over the memory leak for quite some time and i'm sure there is nothing we can do about it. I remember seeing one of the programmers from MC's Kiev studios asking a question about memory leaks on some public tech forum. that's funny. i used to have the memory leak problem really bad, but after getting a new pc the problem is much less severe (practically unnoticable).

4. i would love to see intercity and intercomputer trading - like our own internal planet offer. there are a few experts on the networking files that could answer that; i can't.

5. this is probably an easy fix. i didn't know there was a 1c billion cap.

6. by traditional do you mean like those diamond offramps? i did unlock a few roads and one of them did include a different version of the large avenue interchange without the roundabouts; but there's no stoplights.

7. we could probably make the expressways connect with the highway/highway interchange but i don't know.

6&7: also, we can't make new buildings yet - just modify existing ones.

8. i'm not sure. this may be related to the terraforming/texture problem like #2.

Request: Mod to unlock all of the roads only. I know that I can just go and change to "expert mode", but I would like to "play" the game with the usual rules, but be allowed to build a highway whenever I please. 4.gif

If it's possible to make a new series of highway interchanges, that'd be fantastic. Anything that takes up less footprint would be nice, for sure.

In game is 47 maps (I count only this maps that have *.land file without that file you can create map).

1 map is defaultlandscape (not used)

2 maps dont working for now its: hongkong (its can be repaired) and MountainVolcano_01 (lack a lot of files)

2 maps not working in all mods: paris and omnicorp islands ( in generation city both maps working i tryed)

all others maps (42) full working.

Interesting if in new Cities XL 2011 will be only 45 maps can they be only unlocked from PO

I have a mod request for Cities XL, Overhead Power Lines on wooden power poles and high voltage electrical towers. Also, electrical substations at three different sizes Large, Medium and, Small and they will be linked with the power lines on power poles and the power lines on electrical towers. Also, the power lines on wooden power poles will have two voltage scales, Subtransmission Power Lines and, Distribution Power Lines and, both on one power pole. Also, the overhead power lines will be draggable just like the roads in Cities XL and the power lines on wooden power poles will draggable placed on sidewalks along streets and roads and, on farmland. There will be end pieces with wires going down the pole but, only for power lines on wooden power poles. Also, when making this mod, someone should make power pole models and electrical tower models and the electrical substation models and make them draggable in Cities XL.

Also, one more thing, this mod is for those who want overhead power lines in thier city or not. Especially if someone is building a small rural town in Cities XL that is supposed to have overhead power lines in the town.

add in some residence buildings a construct condition to do it in this layer, ... for example :-)

This would be easier to make and I think It could give a "similar" result.

The problem is however how to implent models in-game. We don't know how to convert the models to CXL format and back.

By the way, you requested the same thing for SC4 and even there it's extremely complicated to make those.


Read the Readme or drown in bugs and glitches; the choice is yours...
