Finally functional after much tweaking. Still not exactly what I was hoping for. V4.1 should let me fix some of the things I'm not happy with.

Interesting work, SlashFan.

Jayster, basic idea, but executed so perfectly. 4.gif

Note that this was made hours before RHW 4.1.

Ignore the fact that there's zero eyecandy. This is an interchange based on one in San Diego.

Well, I return, with tsomething that hasn't been done yet (At least I don't think anyone has dome it yet) I bring you.... A DIRECTIONAL 4-WAY INTERCHANGE! I have yet to add some eye candy. It's probably the 2nd most complex interchange I've ever made. BTW, I made this with the RHW 4.0.

You'll want to click the pic for full resolution.

Anyone ever used Pixelactive Cityscape to make interchanges? It's probably the most amazing piece of software ever created, at least if you're into urban planning. Too bad it's $19,000.

Might be that I have heard about this program 2.gif. Might also be that this is one of the reasons that the frequency of me posting new SC4 interchanges could have dropped.

Actually, I built this interchange a few months ago while learning to handle CityScape.

Meanwhile, I had a go at some other. Remember the Spadina-401 interchange from last page? This is the CS version of it.

Spadina_Overview1.jpgSpadina_Overview.jpg

The daytime is freely adjustable, although the cars will not be nightlighted when it's dark, so I kept it at noon and evening. Below is the same scene at two different times.

Furthermore, CS is able to import GIS data. The next interchange can be found in Barcelona, Spain. I imported the data from OpenStreetMap and refined the interchange in CS. As the import was quite basic (no elevation variations, sometimes erroneous connections, wrong lane counts, missing textures on some roads, ...), I had to work quite a bit to smoothen everything out as desired.

Wow! Those graphics are almost like real life! Did you pay the 19,000 dollars for it? The interchanges are really nice!

Thanks for liking them. 1.gif

But no way that I could afford 19k bucks for a small hobby (freakyness?) of mine. This has been done with the freely available Demo version of CityScape. It has many capabilities of the full version with the main difference that you cannot export your projects. As I don't intend to re-use my cities in other applications, this is no big impact for me.

But I don't want to hijack this thread with non-SC4 interchanges. The RHW is in its own way as good as as the CS highways. Sure, it can't be stacked or drawn at any angle, but then: Isn't this a challenge of its own? 2.gif

Same, I never bought it because I have a hard enough time paying the internet bill, but the demo is available online. I must say I've spent many an evening playing with it.

Seriously. But does anyone have a link to that demo? Also, can you build an actual city in that, or just highways? Stupid question to some, but I wanted to know. Thanks in advance!

This is what happens when you need a basketweave (sort of 9.gif) with another highway meeting at the same time.

Excellent work, Bepi! I hate these RHW interchanges that take up huge swaths of space but I like this very much! It actually makes me want to attempt something similar!

Not sure if I like it with the wall around it though, trying to imagine it without the wall and not sure what way would look better. 3.gif

That would be RHW 4.1, released at the same time as the new August 2010 NAM (version 29).  Did you miss them?

Nice interchange, Bepi!

The NAM Controller contains files that describe Transit Network items, such as puzzle pieces, starter piece overrides, that sort of stuff. Check the creation date of the file "NetworkAddonMod_Controller_RIGHT_HAND_VERSION.dat". If it's older than August 2010, you have an outdated NAM Controller.

Here's the interchange of Highway 1 to Highway 11 East. There is a way for the northbound H-1 traffic to get on H-11 east, don't worry. 18.gif

I also like that the darker texture mixes with the lighter texture. That's how most highways in my area look.

You might recall that I made an attempt at a cloverstack with the RHW 4.0 a while back, but it was bad because it had weaving on the non-loop left turn ramps.  I just finished another one that doesn't have weaving (although I see that CraigKingOfIreland beat me to it a few posts back 44.gif).

And here is a squarish whirlpool interchange with some unfortunately tight turns in places:

McDuell is a master when it comes to interchanges! I would not count myself as a master, I never actually used RHW after my Windows XP crashed a few weeks ago and kept on crashing. :\ But I am Ok now, I have upgraded to Win. Vista and I have a very good antivirus program.

Moomix, you are way better than me at interchanges, actually everyone here is! I sure hope I can get to playing around with the RHW tool very soon. Good luck everyone!

Moomix, a while ago. I saw your interchanges and they were awesome. Guess I mistook moonraker and your names.
