Well fiddle heads are sprouted fern, water cress is an herb that grows on the margins of very cold springs, and capelin is a fish.

Needed a quick snack this afternoon so I whomped up some stuff from what I got at the market yesterday:

 

125 ml (1/2 cup) cottage cheese

12 seedless green grapes

20 ml stem ginger marmalade

Salt to taste (not much)

 

Mix well and serve.

 

A great killer for afternoon peckishness.

Pepper relish sounds tasty.    But what's a phoque burger?

Phoque is Joual for seal, so a seal burger.  Quite tasty and legal in Quebec.  Not sure about Ontario, but if it passed CFIA it is probably OK.  I supposed you could call it a Bardot burger, but that has other implications for People Eating Tasty Animals (PETA).  Mom made two versions of her relish: mild suitable for kids and hot for adults.  The latter would definitely wake you up.  It was easy to tell them apart, the mild on didn't have red peppers in it.

It will have to be chef made, but in addition to the noodles, you get a matzoh ball too.  Suggest mega-doses of vitamin C as well.

Dutch process cocoa is hard to get but we import it because it does taste better.  Fresh batch of brownies for you, still warm.  Roy Rogers for drinking unless you'd like a horse's ass.

Of course.  We were very careful to remove the pin bones from the fillets, so do enjoy.

 

Last night I made up a small amount of my mother's goulash (from memory) but it didn't work quite right.  I think I trumped her ace by using a little wine in the cooking liquid, and the mashed potatoes were a little dry.  I have one portion left to today.  I'll heat it up later in the nuke and maybe add some more liquid.

sounds quite delicious!  ive figured out how to make my moms Chicken & EggNoodle Soup, finding out from trial and error, that black pepper and cilantro were some hints of flavor she added that made her dish very tasty . i might try to prepare some of that this weekend.  Another piece that i finally caught on to how she prepared it was that she didnt add the egg noodles till last and didnt boil them but let them simmer in already cooked pot fo goodies and didnt stir it until it was dinner time.

 

 

My mistake was i started out adding noodles, everything. after several pots of mush, i finally opened one of those dusty doors in the mind that actually showed me just what she did. and it works.

If you want a nicer looking dish try white pepper.  Adding the noodles last means you don't have to prepare them in advance and add them at the end.  The extra starch helps to thicken the end product.

 

Just picked up my new shades.  They are polarized and what a difference on this bright, sunny, spring day.
