Yes, the business lunch went well, so well they all stayed and enjoyed dinner! Some of my "constituents" have vowed to move to Stepford Island and support my champaign-hiccup-oops i mean "campaign". I was going to call a taxie but Old Man Baynes' son volunteered to drop me off in Peyton. The Baynes own over 60 percent of businesses in town. If we win his son over, we plan to get him to bootbthe old man so to lossen the purse strings and get some progress in town.

The MOose Factory was a BIG impression on the entire group. Dont be surprized if you see new patrons! With deep pockets!

I've always had a low tolerance but hey, its all good!  Oh , almost forgot, this is the group shot one of the waiters took for us last night,  will be using it in one of the articles in the Peyton Place Press in a few weeks during the elections.

Hey, a great shot.

 

Tonight's casual staff dinner (or just because you live alone doesn't mean ...)

 

One 220 gm Sirloin Steak

Garlic, Salt, Pepper rub

1 Tbsp EVOO

Celery stick

Scallion

 

 

About an hour before cooking, take steak out of fridge, clean off the butcher's wrap, and rub on both sides with the condiments.  Let stand for about an hour, covered with transparent wrap.

 

When ready to cook:  Heat a non-stick pan over medium high heat.  Add 1 TBSP EVOO and waltz it around the pan with a brush.  (Mine is silicone).  For extra calories you could add a pat of butter.  I didn't.

 

Sear the steak on both sides for about three minutes per side.  You want a nice crust on the meat and fat.

 

Reduce head to medium low, cover the pan and cook to desired colour.  (1 minute or less for sagnant, 3 minutes for a point, 5 minutes for cuit.  Longer is for boot soles.)

 

Remove to a serving plate and slice in 2 cm strips on the bias, keeping it together.

 

Serve with a celery stick or two and some cleaned scallions.

 

Since all times are approximate, you need to gather some experience to do this right.  It is worth a couple of failures.  I was trying for a point but got cuit tonight.  I was a little sloppy with the timing.

 

For dessert I buttered some Breton crackers with plain Philadelphia cream cheese and dripped a little Smucker's strawberry jam in the middle.

 

Sometimes, I really rear up and cook something serious.  Happy holidays.

Wow you've just about got me packing my bag and coming to spend the winter! That sounds delish! So you really are a good cook /gourmet! I will get the ingredients and give this a try. I did have a med scare this summer - just found out i have a ♡ situation. So do you have any great salmon, fish, or bird recipes too?

I never had hbp or overweight. I think this is a hereditary thing.

Oh, and see how brisk and cool it looks outside in that shot? Makes the warm virtual atmosphere inside more realistic. I can even smell the aromas! Noticed the "sim-faces?" I do that on all pics since this is simcity!

I've been a relatively cautious cook since my triple coronary arterial bypass in 2000.  That steak was a little heavy on fats and I don't do that very often.  Normally, I buy small filet mignon cuts of a few ounces.  This steak not only weighed half a pound (8 oz.), but was edged with a good amount of fat which I cooked and ate.  Note that raw veggies were served with it.  The Breton crackers are also very rich.  I could have made this worse by quaffing something other than diet coke with it, but I refrained.

 

Had quite a scare Wednesday.  My blood sugar was through the roof on first morning test.  It took most of the day to get it down to something reasonable, and I've been a good boy, more or less, for the rest of the week.  Getting older has its drawbacks.

 

Today's lunch will probably be tea and rye toast with a little ginger marmalade.  I have an all dressed pizza (frozen) for dinner tonight.  I'll probably eat about half of it and the remaining slices will be breakfasts.  My diabetes councillor would have a stroke if she saw what I really eat most of the time.

I like the winter menu. I must try each item. Sorry to hear of your bp problem and glad you got it back under control. Looks like we both are dealing with a heart condition. You are right, can splurge on red meat once in a while

Since my little contretemps with the heart surgeons I am now on five separate medications to control both cholesterol and blood pressure including a minor blood thinner (ASA).  I have a nice zipper down the middle of my chest and one horrendous scar from groin to ankle on my left leg.  You want to avoid that if possible.  So enjoy the menu.  Today for lunch:

 

Salad of romaine and tomatoes, Lot's wife, high stepper and Caesar dressing (very little).

30 gm. of brie.

Diet coke.

 

Generally, I scoop the seeds out of the tomatoes with a melon baller and chuck them.

Good morning, @ROFL  hope to see you after the festivities.  We are staying over night at the Westin across the street and doing the morning NY Day Breakfast Spread.  Last year's was dee-lish!!

 

In the meantime, passing through on my way to "The Quarry" (work),  Mr Moose, can I get 5 of your prefilled Moose Factory Special Blend Coffee Thermoses?  Id like the 5 gallon sizes : 3 Regulars ,; one Almond and the other Hazelnut to go please...... ; treating the office this morning - the aroma will 'drive' them to the conference room this morning where snacks will be available for those who have to work today.

Id like to order an autoserver too! But my "trusty android" might get jealous.  Besides, dining it at Moose's makes it more special with the only autobotserver in thousands of miles radius. i use to pull 7pm to 7am 12hour Shifts.  You have the whole city to yourself during daylight hrs

I see both of you have character building McJobs.  The autoserver is always on duty and the revolving door is unlocked.  Since the New Year's Eve party's last call is at 0200 we like to have from 0400 to 0600 for cleaning, but we generally manage with a few sleeping bodies lying about.  The KK Dragon takes most to the crash pads in the back room.

The KK Dragon won't hurt you.  He only gets upset with people who pollute Kempenfeldt Bay on Lake Simcoe.  Generally he is a gentle soul and lives to please.    Gold dragons are generally very nice.
