If I sign up and pay the monthly wee, will the added transportation, ie trains, etc be available in my single player game?
If I don't renew my online subscription, will they still be available in my single player game?

Mass transportation on launch is not available. However, it is planned as an update at an undefined point in the 'near future' and will be available as part of the Planet Offer only to the best of my knowledge.

Is there any benefit to paying for the subscription right now?  Other that playing with other people?  I mean, is there any decent additional content for paying more money?

Indeed that is a good question. Do we have to stay subscribed to keep any future content? Also currently it doesn't seem theres a HUGE incentive to get the planet offer, i wonder how long it'l be till we see any content.

As I said in another thread, a mass transit expansion pack to single player is still possible. Matthew said to me that he has passed on the suggestion and the big interest for the community for it, and MC are still discussing yet. Nothing's official, but it's hope and it could most likely happen, since it will bring us mass transit in single player, and MC lots more money, and as it will attract more people.

I, for one, will not buy this game until it is confirmed that mass transit will be in single player. That is rediculous. Image Sim City 4 without roads. It's not even worth playing.

I was in the beta, confirmed transports will only be available in PO mode. However they did express interest providing this option free closer to the end of the year in a new update.

Well, I doubt Mass transit will be used offline, But if it is.... Since it will be a UPDATE not a gem, If you stop paying for PO, You'll lose it. But I highly doubt you'll get it offline.

My game won't update after I login, it just says 'download failed'. It has been like this for a few days >_<

I was wondering if there were any other ways to get the patches/downloads?

Not a huge deal but I finally decided that I wanted to give it another try and bought the game.  Started the download thinking, this is should go quicky (since I am sitting on 30 Mbps internet).  But to my shock, downloading the 2 bin files at 75 Kbps...Like I said not a huge deal but...theres not like any mirrors or anything is there?  Its also possible my router is holding me down but I would have to find out the hard way and if its not the router, I would just be restarting a slow download lol.  Anybody else encountering this?

if you use the free download manager in the email you get around 500-700kb/s

Sorry about the double post by the way.  I decided to reset my router and apparently it pinked it twice or something, no change though.  But I didn't see anything about a free download manager in the email, I will check again, do you have a link to download this download manager lol?

*edit* Found it, must have read over it.  Hopefully this will help, thank you.

*edit2* Same speeds, bummer  the DL manager isn't making a difference at all.

*edit3* Seem to have figured it out now with the DL manager.  I upped my sections until they wouldn't go up anymore.  BIN-1 is at 20 and BIN-2 is at 18 sections.  Both downloads are roughly 2 Mbps each now, 15 minutes remaining so if that helps anybody with a fast connection

1) Who consumes retail, I got a city with over 250k people and people are unhappy that they do not have 'shopping', but commercial zones go bankrupt because retail is red and they don't make a profit (everything else is green). Commercial zones are in the middle of residential zones.

2) Entertainment and education. There is whining that the city is boring and people are retarded, but even though I spend a lot of my budget on various entertainment and schooling structures, the situation doesn't improve. What's the problem here? Does it matter how close these building are and what the types are? What is the most effective way of building them?

3) Any way of making a sustainable society that doesn't depend on having loads of heavy industry in the town? Can be partially circumvented by farming I guess but that locks out manufacturing and hi-tech. And offices seem to love hi-tech.

I was just wondering if anyone had any idea where to actually buy Cities XL if I decide to get it.

I've checked with Gamestop, Wal Mart, Target and a few other retailers, no one seems to have any idea about the game and can't even find anything in their commputers about it.

Can anyone help me?
