@Kryptowhite-Yea....41.gif I put most of my non-New York BATs on hold, so I only been BATing New York stuff right now. When I start working on my non-New York BATs again, I'll start my OWN BAT Thread. I made this one as a team thread, but I've been the most active member here.3.gif I'm only posting my New York BATs here, but I did post a non New York BAT a few pages ago just as a teaser. And, I been having alot of free time lately, so I've been able to do simcity stuff. I think I remember seeing in your BAT Thread that you had something for NYBT coming up, any previews on that?

I was doing a draft render to put the BAT in game to test if anything was wrong with it in-game. I did this kinda early, so it's still not 100% finished. Of course I found something wrong with the camera views in the game but I fixed it, so everything is good. While it was rendering a zoom 5 view was alot closer than a preview one, so I took a screenshot of it. Here it is. Keep in mind it's a draft render. But it looks like a higher quality on the facade though.

    2ldd63s.jpg

I still want to add onto the roof. I'm not to sure what to do with the facade. It looks all right and accurate. So, nothing is really changing there. I need some help with the Verizon™ logo, last time, I got it to have a neon affect setting the texture to self allumination and such, but it doesn't seem to be doing it agian here...I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help?

@Kellydale2003-Really? People thought you were part of NYBT? Well, if you want to, then you can. I need more active members here, I'm all alooooooooooooooooone in here.17.gif And you can hide certain geometry and such in Sketchup as well...

@NYBT Members- Since I'm the most post active here, should this thread be part NYBT members' part My BAT Thread?

@Jumpthefence- How's your BATs coming along? Have you put 77 Water Street on a lot yet?

    @Kelistmac- How's One Penn Plaza?

@Hanson784- You have any pics on One Liberty Plaza and on the night lighting for my 130 Liberty Street V2?

@Seraf- Any progress on your New York BATs? You said you were going to BAT the Plaza Hotel right? I can't wait to see it.

The Verizon BAT is looking really nice, a good representation of the hideous original.

However, I think the textures need some work. The tiling on that totally windowless wall is rather obvious, and a slight gradient on all walls might also be worth considering. Besides, the roof textures could use a nice helping of that technique a user named 6459978 used to such great effect. Here is a very old BAT by him - you will notice that despite the lousy jpeg quality and the very subtle roof junk, the roof somehow looks very convincing.

What he did was basically take a snapshot of the roof  straight from above, load it into your photo editing software, and use the roof contours (outer edges, roof-mounted HVACs or tech rooms, etc.) as a kind of "stencil". He'd then use Photoshop to darken these contours slightly - it's exactly what you see on the rooftop of that BAT I linked. This technique serves to define the roof better, to make it look more interesting even when there's little stuff up there, and to visually "anchor" any junk on the roof. (In many cases roof junk somehow looks like it's floating and not really attached to the roof). It's kinda hard to explain, I hope I managed to get the basic idea across. 34.gif

Well, I'm not to sure about adding a gradient, I did something to the texture, but I don't think it looks too different. Here's some draft renders.

    2n6f4mc.jpg

    Here's a night one.

    9tzdyh.jpg

Zoom 5 preview won't go any closer unless I'm exporting. I had the night windows all lit up and finished adding some minor details, then the BAT froze and lost progress on that. So that's one reaason why there isn't lighting on that side yet. And, the building doesn't really light up at night that much anyway. I think the wall texture looks fine, even on the blank wall that has the Verizon logo, but I'm not satisfied with the entire BAT for some reason.

Great job - I would join, but I'm currently not interested joining any teams right now. Because when me and nyc06 release the WTCs it would have some or most credit to a team instead of just the two individuals who actually built it, rathar than a team.

Your getting better, I use photoshop as a tool to get some of the textures I want. Do you use that too?

I'm incredibly frustrated now. Angry, pi$$ed, just about anything that can come to mind. I finished everything, then exported it. Export was taking hours, so I let it finish over night when I went to bed. I woke up this morning, exporting was done. I was happy, until I put it in the game.

    Here's a pic that compares 375 Pearl Street V2- http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=25jkw8z&s=4 It's big so it's a link to it.

Here's one of the frustrating points- The roof.

    vhvo4.jpg

The solid color, light grey areas were textured, but when I exported it, they looked like that. The logo looks all right, I guess.

    Frustrating point 2- The plaza.

    mt202.jpg

It looks to empty,(the plaza part that has the BAT low -poly trees) I want to add more to it, but what?

Frustrating point 3- Some props that are part of the BAT and the lot.

    1zy98ur.jpg

That orange thing came from a picture of the loading dock, so I added it. For some reason, it was textured with a darker orange texture, that wasn't a solid color. But of course, exporting it, the texture turned to a solid color like the roof problem. And to top it all off with the lot, the New York Map I'm using isn't flat, and turned into that. Now the BAT looks like its floating, part of it floating might have to be fixed in BAT, but most of it's caused by the map. But the map looks flat, and its the NHP New York Map, this lot situation happened with almost ALL of the stuff I put on it. What's going on?

Last but not least: Frustrating point 4- The Plaza at night

    e69mox.jpg

It looks awful, terrible, and ugly. The first night lighting I had for it was perfect! But gmax messed up where, even though the omni lights were on and existing, the omni lights would not show up in rendering. I had to delete the old ones that weren't working and put new ones. Thanks to the zoom 5 preview in BAT looking like a zoom 3, I couldn't really see this. And, the plaza isn't even illuminated, only the walls. I'm very angry and almost about to just give up on this. Any suggestions?

I actually like it! (probably because I have no experience in 3d modeling 9.gif)

Can I make a request? If yes, what about the General Electric (click for pics)building or another similar art-deco tower? Thanks in advance 4.gif

If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. That is so beautiful Seraf! I can't wait to have it!4.gif

I took a quick brake from The Verizon Building to do a little with the Citicorp Center.

    35kivtj.jpg

I made the black lines hidden, it looks good so far. I finished the basic facade of the plaza building, just need to do some more with it. Soon I'm going to BAT the basic shape of the church, then some parts of the plaza. I'm going to resume work on WTC7 soon and show some pics.

Well, I'm finished with One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza and I'm going to upload it now. Here's a little preview.

    lbf3n.jpg

    29xjbkl.jpg

I'm only uploading the growable right now, I can't make a ploppable version, so I'm wondering if anyone here can make one so I can update the upload soon so it will contain both versions. It will be high tech again, since it's a data center, not an office building.

The night lighting at the plaza still bothers me, but I'm just releasing it as is. So I can move on with other projects.

I have some bad news about WTC7. The model was lagging so much, so I was going to try to finish it in gmax. But, the model got messed up and would not export in 3ds. at all. And, I don't think the lagging had to do with the geometry and such, since random crashes(that only occured with that model file) started even when the model didn't have any detail at all. So it's my misfortune to announce I have to abandon my progress on it and start over. It will be finished though! Just not sooner than it originally was. I'm a little up set becuase all of that work went to waste. But it's not much of a trouble though...

Simcity4fan sent me his/hansons One Times Square model, i've rescaled it, textured it, and then i will obviously nightlight it.

Some of the billboards were crap [no offense] so i replaced them with higher quality images [hope you approve of the products 3.gif]

I could have sworn the bases were different in real life though? isn't this the one with the walgreens? Going to new york in two weeks maybe i'll be in times square [okay, thats not really a maybe 3.gif]

    st1.jpg

Btw I took off that base I don't feel like modeling the area around it so i'll just lot in.

    72bayardst1.jpg

So here's what I have so far on 72 Bayard Street. Lemme see... what does it need?

    -Window variety

    -Window coloring

    -Roof junk

    -Floor level details

    -Wall textures & details

-Garden on the east restaurant window

-Utility boxes on the east wall

-Plenty more stuff on the west wall

    -Utilities on the north wall

    -Plenty more!

Summary: It's a mess and still pretty far from completion.

But hey, at least now you know I'm still alive.

I was thinking of maybe contributing to this. 3.gif

    http://www.emporis.com/en/il/pc/?id=284962&aid=8

Here's what i want to make:

Though the building i have for me is not the most well known modern NYC building. But i like it, it's a quite interesting building in Lower Manhattan.

@Glenni- We would be honored to have you contribute to NYBT! And good choice for a BAT. Especially since it's from Lower Manhattan! That's my favorite area in New York, and the main focus of my New York BATs. 9.gif

Easily the worst 4 days of my life. And you western massachusetts-er-ers have crappy domino's, they wouldn't deliver more than 15 minutes away despite a 20 dollar tip offer.

This is not a BAT request thread, I'm sure the team would rather save the space for showcasing their work (unless they don't mind). That being said, Aaron Graham, you need to merge those pictures into one post and delete the others if you please.

By the way, looking good guys!

@SimHoTToDDy- You are correct. And thanks for the comment!

@Anyone who wants to make a request- The BAT Request Thread is for requests. Please don't take up space in this thread for that. And plus, we can't just be an army of BATers to BAT what everyone wants imediately, I prefer to BAT what ever New York Building catches my eye and that I like. And, we can't just fill every request, at least not in a month or two. I got some I'm working on all ready, and can't really just start to much.

    @Kryptowhite- Wow...nice viking accent.17.gif

@Glenni- Just asking, are you just contributing that building(when you BAT it) to NYBT or do you want to be completely part of the team and BAT with us(and still BAT what you want to BAT that isn't New York stuff)?

@Jumpthefence-I was little confused about that BAT 72 Bayard Street at first from this picture. It seems that there is a deep hole in it from the roof. And that's not a pent house or whatever.

    5u037o.jpg

Here's some more pics, sorry for the quality.

    30sbpxd.jpg

There is a huge glare on the building...only in the pic...

    I hope that helps.

All I'm using for this building is:

    -Google Street View

    -Bing Maps (Birds eye view)

I found it works just fine. You get your 3D view for the roof, and the ground level & walls.

Of course, any other pictures are often a big help, especially from street level.

    So thanks!

    2.gif

P.S. I saw One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza on the STEX. I don't know about you, but I think it looks great!
