Well, they are based on some in RL. I used a google earth image, since I use sketchup to get the RL dimensions. Unfortunately, they weren't wide, at all. They were deep, but not wide. The RL widith wouldn't even fit W2W if the widith was 1 tile wide! Unless I packed a bunch together as a 1x2. Now, It's 2 on a 1x3 lot. I actually thought it was 2x3 at first, but got a unexpected surprise. I don't think their deepness will be much of a problem, unless someone only uses 1 of these brownstones and just places it in a 1x2 neighborhood...

Even though they may be based on the real ones, I still think that making 2x1 ones is a good idea since it is what most w2w structures are. Perhaps you could make 2 versions? Also, brownstones, as a general rule, aren't that colorful. Just suggestions 2.gif

I've seen pics of colorful ones, the ones that I made aren't really "colorful". These aren't the only versions that will be made ever, just ones that will be modeled like that. And most w2w structures aren't just 2x1.

Well, my first brown stone pack has been completed and released and I'm now moving on back to my other projects. Thanks for those who rated and commented on it!

Here's a preview of the back facade of WTC7 in the works.

    2hxrsyd.jpg

The textures are shaded, to help prevent lagging(so far, it barely helps). The black lines that are in sketchup are hidden too.( they don't show up in the BAT by the way....)

Here's a preview of the loading dock.

    2yl8r40.jpg

I only did the little road part, but the entrance to the loading bay is still in the works. You can't really see the shape of the loading dock door, since the black lines are hidden for lagging-prevention purposes.

I have a new project I started on...since I put most of my others on hold for awhile: The Downtown Athletic Club. It's going to be easy and quick, so I started on it. It shouldn't really prevent me from finishing my other projects. Pics of the Downtown Athletic Club process coming up next.

@simcity4fan12 - I swear if you don't switch to 3DS MAX I'm going to have to do something annoying! x]

The reason why it's lagging is because there's TOO much geometry. See with all your windows for your DAY render in Max, You could just make it one big spline and texture it, add raytrace, bump, and it the texture will create itself! Then you make a night model (just save another copy of your day model) and create seperate smaller splines with the same texture only add "self-illumination" to it.

Max is SOO much easier and convenient. This BAT would probably take you less than a week if you have good time (and how much better you get).

The sooner you switch - the less you'll regret. 4.gif Your Bats are great - don't get me wrong. But you can be done in half the time, I thought Max was difficult and somewhat complicated, but honestly it's so easy when you know the steps (which I will provide of course). So PM me your e-mail address and I'll e-mail you back more information (dont ask questions just do it).

Life would be much easier 3.gif

Patience young Kellydale, patience. Once I finish what I have started on already in sketchup I will switch to MAX. When I atleast finish WTC7 and 130 Liberty Street( I want to finish them first, I have gotten way to far on them...) I'll switch. I do want to finish things faster.

Searching around SimCity Polska looking for updates on Seraf's wonderful BAT of Bethseda Terrace I found out Grzego15 was working on 425 5th Avenue: http://www.simcitypolska.pl/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?48350.

Not sure if he's working on it still but if he isn't can someone from the site get in touch with him and let him know I could finish it for him.

Also, anyone else who has incomplete BAT projects I would be happy to work on them. I hate seeing all that effort go to waste and I have sometime to work on other projects. Let me know.

@simcity4fan12 - You can BAT in both programs without having to throw one away 3.gif No need to stop finishing one project in sketch because you have 3ds. 4.gif

Ah you know what I mean - no details.

Thanks, I'm browsing that thread now. I appreciate it!

A few announcements- Hanson784 is going to finish modeling the Bertelsmann Building for me and add nitelighting to my 130 Liberty StreetV2.

I don't think I will switch to 3dsmax just yet...I'm still contemplating about it... Maybe just not this soon...

Stay tuned for more updates. Maybe on some other buildings I'm working on.

    @Jumpthefence-How's 77 Water Street? I hope you're still here!

    Oh, I'm far from gone.

I took you up on your Chinatown idea. I've been doing that all day today. I thought about doing the four buildings on the corners of Bayard & Mott. Right now I'm working on 72 Bayard Street. Hopefully I can provide some pictures by tomorrow.

I actually got so interested on that certain building that 77 Water Street hasn't been put on a lot yet! Heh heh.4.gif

I'm just going to keep the message brief at that and go back to BATing.

I don't have any long term projects this week so BATing should pick up.

    Have a great Monady y'all!

Oh good, I'm glad your working on some China Town BATs!29.gif Do you need someone to put 77 Water Street on a lot? I can do that for you. 2.gif

EDIT: A pic of the Down Town Athletic Club in the works. It's probably going to be the quickest Skyscraper BAT of that height that I'll finish. Maybe... It just seems so simple.

    28r3afc.jpg

I need some pics of the very front's base. The side that faces the southern tip of Manhattan. Or, you can say the side that faces the back of the White Hall Building. (You can see the front in the pic, its just blank right now.) I have enough pics of the sides and back, just need the front.4.gif

Sorry for my absence lately but I was sick 15.gif Now I'm back to work, but I have some problems with bat4max and ltbl (you can see it in thread about bat4max).

simcity4fan12 - nice start of the DAC.

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

@ozdaniel- Maybe soon, not just yet.2.gif

@Seraf- I'm glad you're not sick right now! I wish I could help with the BAT4max, but I don't use it just yet. I hope you can sort things out.4.gif Thanks for the comment on the DAC. The angle of the pic made some parts of it look odd, but that's sketchup's graphics for ya...34.gif

@Vlasky- Thanks for stopping by. My 130 Liberty Street will be finished soon after Hanson does some nitelighting for it. With that, I have less to worry about finishing things since he's finishing my Bertelsmann Building. Thank you Hanson!9.gif WTC7 will be finished soon, but it's taking a bit more time, maybe in a few more weeks, or two. Maybe a month...15.gif It depends on RL right now.

It looks finished, but it's not yet. The back is still unfinished, and I need to edit the roof. I'm trying to find a way to solve this lagging problem on this model. Hiding certain layers don't work anymore. It's getting rediculous.46.gif I fear it might take another month just finish one side even though the other sides took like a coulple of days.47.gif Does anyone here who use sketchup can help me with this? I'm trying something and I hope it will work.37.gif *Fingers crossed*

Maybe I should quit on it and start over...*41.gifcontemplating...*

@-maikeli.1-Hanson is finishing it for me. He's adding nightlighting to my 130 Liberty Street V2 right now, so he's going to finish BATing the Bertelsmann Building for me after that.

Hoooold it, boys and girls. Before you start jumping on him, maybe take a breath and think.

His nick is "Parisian", and he made some mistakes in his posts - heck, he even spelled "awfull" with two "L". Doesn't it occur to you that he might indeed be a Frenchman from Paris, and hence speak English only as a foreign language? Maybe he simply mixed up "awesome" and "beautiful" and accidentally wrote "awful", unaware of what he actually said with that post.

So relax, give him (and yourselves) a break and let's wait until he comes back and explains his post. Remember that many users here are young and still learning some English, so there's always a risk of misunderstandings. And even those who are older might still make mistakes if English is not their native language.

I m so sorry about my previous post, yes I m french and my english is sometimes approximative.

What I wanted to say about BATters who work here is simply WOW! I couldn't expect more when I ve found that site on the internet.

Buildings here are so realistic, and full of details. I ve made a mistake with awfull, I meant awsome.

Your work are sensationnal, I would like to be able to build such buildings, but I ve try with the BATool, but it seems to hard.

That the reason why when I ve discovered all the NYCbat projects on this topic, I was like WOW; happy to be with you all to see the progression of your work that I respect a lot.

    Sorry for the previous post...15.gif

It's okay, english is a very hard language to learn. 1.gif (In response to what TWrecks said)I probably should have thought about something like that at first... So I'm sorry. Thanks for this comment, really means alot. I understand how hard the BAT tool is, I was glad I found something like sketchup to use at first. If you would like to learn to BAT using the sketchup/gmax method, PM me later and I can help you out.

My BAT of WTC7, is extremely detailed, and will probably be, most likely(and hopefully) my best BAT I've done so far. It's looks odd in the picture, but that's becuase of sketchup's graphics, and the distance in the picture.

@Kellydale2003- I'm still thinking about switching, honestly I think I should wait... That upload of yours looked really good. I actually recognize it from awhile back. Can't remember what I rated it...

@TWrecks-Thanks for stepping in. I appreciate that comment. It shows us alot.

Lol - Your not supposed to say that! but oh well, I uploaded that myself - I used a free account, so that download won't be there forever. 2.gif

But it's up to you, Sketchup in my eyes is a bit harder than gmax.
