Wow!! I just found this journal today (wonder how that happened) and I am impressed! Your transportation system takes a lot af skill! Keep up the good work!

I am also glad to see one of my buildings on a cj skyline. I always find it encouraging when I know that my buildings are being used.

I like the on shore sky-lines.... Too bad there not that many coastal lots (to keep the shore a bit diverse. Nice Job on the extension of the area!

I like the way you put your expansions on the CJ too(with the drawings on the developing area for your transit network)!

Looking forward to see more upcoming devolopments 1.gif

I am back, and ready to do some serious simcitying, as i feel that i have let you all down by not updating, to tell the truth, i have done pretty much buggerall, so im gonna make it up to you all, so now i have changed cities, thank god, and doing something that i havent done for a while, and that is. YAMAMOTO. In this uodate i will be showing you a new transportation layout, well a layout in the works, and an updated region view which looks pretty amazing if i say so myself16.gif. i wont let you wait any longer, so here it is, the new Yamamoto transportation layout on the mainland.

This first pic is just showing a beginning layout of what is to be a hopefully great transportation layout using commercial and residential in two seperate areas, wish me luck.

    Yam.jpg

And just for an extra mode of transport as i know there will be problems with only raised rail and highway so i have built ground rail (and also it makes it look good)

    Yam1.jpg

This is only the Beginning, i am aming to make this my best mixed transportation layout yet.

Now for the region views, its been a while since i last showed u the region view, so nows a better time than any, i give you, River Basin in all its underconstruction glory.

    RiverBasin.jpg

I have to say it does look quite pleasant not having all skyscrapers. Now the transportation view. Man i got alota boats.

    RiverBasin.jpg

Well thats all for today, but i will be back v soon to give u another update on my new transportation layout, and i will awnser the questions now too.

    Alrighty then.

JO: i know its a bit repetative but there aint much variety in the BAT shoreline things atm that is to do with industry and such.

KCTHEDESTROYER: I also like the onshore skylines, i just imagine looking at it at night from sea, amazing, like one massive light house. I think i did do a good job on that extension from relcaimed land.

ANDREW GEORGE: it took about 10 years i'd say for that extension to develop, its cos of the influence from maxwellmultinational and my great transportation layouts 9.gif.

Again, thnx to all thos that commented, i hope more of you will in the fututre as i am intrigued to know what you think, and any questions u have please ask em, i will be happy to reply to them.

Ahhh, what a nice day it is today in Yamamoto today, such a nice day that the construction of the new expansion to the city to continue. There have been many advancements in the technology used in architecture these day in River Basin, that there have been many new and exciting ways to build transport as well as new and better buildings that show off much style, here are some pics for you to look at, and lemme know if you think that this could work, and how well you think it will support the masses of commuters travelling to work every day.

Second Part to Transportion Expansion Thingymabob.
    Yam1.jpg

Part of The Second Part to Transportation Expansion Thingymabob.
    Yam2.jpg

Another Part of The Second Part to Transportation Expansion Thingymabob.
    Yam1.jpg

Do you think this will work, and how long for? I have not added the smaller roads just yet, as i am still planning where to put them.

There have been many reports from around the city that there have been some very serious accidents on the roads of Yamamoto, there have also been reports of the raised rail system being clogged up due the the masses of sims commuting from one place to another, mainly from Yamamoto to Maxwell-Multinational. It has come to our attention, being the transportation advisors of Yamamoto that serious action needs to be taken.

To combat the ever growing city of Yamamoto and all its commuters, it has been decided to place alot more bus/subway stations around the main part of the city which was incidentley the first part to be built, to offer more options for when the sims decide to travel, also a drastic measure will be taken to quell the clogged rasied rail system, is to build a second line running along the original main line, this is what we plan to do with this. (i had already done the extra line as i thought i had a pic of a before, but obviously i didnt, so dont mind the stations being there)

Plan for New Raised Rail lines to Quell the Ever Increasing Commuting.
    Yam1.jpg
The blue lines are the original line, and the red lines are whats going to be added to help with the increasing commuting sims, and this is what it looks like now, it has helped quite a bit, but im gonna have to replan the branching off lines for future development in this current area. (i thought i might as well show you it as a night view, cos i felt like it)
    Yam2.jpg

and some close ups with the blue and red lines.

    Yam3.jpg

    Yam4.jpg

For this to actually be constructed, some poor peoples homes had to be destroyed to make way for the new raised rail line.

Thats all for today, the next update will include what will happen to the second part to the new city expansion, so stay tuned.

Anyquestion that you have about anything that i have done or shown, dont hesitate to ask as i will be more than happy to awnser them, comments are always welcome, your opinion matters to me, it can help me to improve my ways to bring you even bigeer and better updates so please let me know.

Going back to what i said before, i want to know what you think of my new city expansion and how you think my transportation layout will cope with the commuting sims. This has been a Smirkazor City journal Update, thank you for looking.

Excellent looking; I was wondering why there was a lot of highways around but I can see why, with all that high end development you'll need them to keep those commuters going (at about 50 km/h an hour during Rush Hour3.gif17.gif)

Just one thing though; you planning any low density eco/green development away from the core area; I think it helps make the region look more friendly to the eye as well as giving some more less off people a chance to move in.

    Anyhow keep it up 38.gif

Casper3141: i have already sent u a private message telling u casper, but this is mainly for those of you that have forgotten or cant be arsed to read from the beginning 42.gif. This map that is featured in this city journal is 100% absolutely, completely, righteuosly, stupendousley and amazingly all from my own large and meaningfull mind. I created River Basin from scratch, right from the beginning with no help in the making whatsoever, it took all my hardened effort, i put all my sweat and blood into its creation to bring you an amazing sight that is River Basin.

More updates to come tomorrow concerning my city expansion development.

Palpatine001: Thnx for the comment palp, very appreciative am i of u. I think about 70km/h should do the trick 11.gif, just need to watch out for those nasty pileups 11.gif. In The near future, yes i am going to put in eco friendly as u say so nicely subburbs etc to keep away from the core of my region, to give me sims some nice peace and quiet by the river, maybe a place in the sun, or just below one of the two dormant volcanoes that tower over the region 11.gif.

keep the comments comming, i am intrigued with what u have to say and think of everything and anything that i have done that is to do with my wonderous region River Basin.

    That looks very nice.

“The American city should be a collection of communities where every member has a right to belong. It should be a place where every man feels safe on his streets and in the house of his friends. It should be a place where each individual's dignity and self-respect is strengthened by the respect and affection of his neighbors. It should be a place where each of us can find the satisfaction and warmth which comes from being a member of the community of man. This is what man sought at the dawn of civilization. It is what we seek today.”

First things first; thanks for the reply. 10.gif
    A few tips to help the region out;
    In Lex I hae a few lots that can help out with core services;

The 1st one is the Nuclear Garbage Facility
using a nuclear reactor; this plant uses the heat from the reactor to burn over 1000 tonnes of rubbish while producing power and without the worries of a meltdown (thanks to Imperial Technology) - it is great for very large cities with high garbage and power requirements.

    The second one is the Large Water Pump/Treatment Hybrid Pant;
this lot produces 1.5x more water than a large pump as well as treating 600 cu/m3 of water all in the one lot; just remember to build a water tower next to it to get capacity readings

And the last one is my ploppable gas station; makes the city look more realistic; hey Sims have to gas up.

To find these; go to Lex and type Palpatine001 in the search

    Enjoy

smirkazor, it is very amazing how your transportation layout was such a success. I only wish I had the same success with my cities. I use a similar layout, alot of highways, instead of rails I use subways, and some bus stops. But i still have a horrible commute time of 500 and many buildings go abandoned. Do you happen to know why this is so?

First i will reply to these lovely comments, then a little bit later i will post another update, and in which i will be including a gallery of pictures from around the city of Yamamoto, only the best for u simtropians, it is later as i still have to collect more pics.

Palpatine001: thnx for the tips of some buildings, i will check them out, cheers.

Exgamer07: I am appreciative of you're comment, i take alot of pride in my work on my transportation systems, my sims deserve nothing less. The problem that i think u are having (which i may be wrong) that you do not have enough stations around the city, in both res and commerce, so place some more down. Would it be possible for u to show me a pic of ur subway system and ur road layout for me to ave a look at, i can draw on it with my lines and show what u COULD do. that would be easier.

Hello all, and welcome to another installment to my River Basin CJ. For todays update we will be focusing on the development on Yamamoto's latest city expansion, this scheme has costed well over an average of aboot 2.5 million simoleons, which suprisingly enough didnt even dent its money supply.

The construction of all the basic transportation needs of the sims that will sonn be moving in took quite some time to design and lay down, once that had been done everything just fell into place, ere is a picture of most of the small roads being placed as well as some of the zoning which is soon to develop.

Picture of Small Roads Placed as Well as Some Zoning
    Yam1.jpg

    Close Up of Zones etc.
    Yam2.jpg

Soon everything started to develop within the year and continued until all was full, which meant that more zoning was to be done and that developed and looks like this (see Picture below)

    Picture Below
    Yam3.jpg

But of course the sims wanted more, so i gave em more, those sims just love Yamamoto so much that they just have to come on over and move in. And further development continued with more zoning.

Picture of More Zoning and Development
    Yam1.jpg

As a few years went by, more sims moved in giving the need for larger and taller buildings, a new municiple airport had to be built to support these new sims, which in turn brought new buisnuesses creating a few skyscraper in the CBD supplying more jobs to the more sims moving in which means bigger aiport, which in turn brings in bigger buisnesses with more skyscrapers bringing in more jobs for more sims making bigger airport uuuuhhh. You get what i mean.

    Overview of City from Above.
    Yam2.jpg

What a pleasant looking city, ah how relaxing. yaaawwn23.gif. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Once everything had developed as much as i felt was needed i took a look at my traffic information thing on the graphs, not the commute time one, the other which shows congestion, and do u know what i saw, i saw red line in some places with some yellow bits dotted around, and i thought 6.gif nooooooooo. then i took a look close and the red line where only on two parts of the subway and on part of the passenger rail line, incidently it is the single line ones that this has occured on. Once news of this astonishing discover, they went back to the drawing board to try and come up with something to combat this new danger to yamamoto's economy, which was slowing it down. Just 2 months later a plan was devised to build new subway and rail lines running along adjacent to the original line to spread out the congestion, sounds very logical on the drawing board, but would it help.

this is what they planned to do with the rail line, the line that was the trouble was the single line running outbound towards that large volcano, so they planned to build two new line running on either side of the original and this is what it would look like. Salmon pink = Original line, Red = New lines and Green box = New rail station, as there have been reports of complaining sims saying they dont have enough transport, like that is possible.

This is what it would look like.
    Yam1.jpg

And this is what it looked like after.

    After Construction.
    Yam2.jpg

That should keep those sims happy for about a week 3.gif. Anywho, this did help to release the pressure that was put on that one rail line, as for the subway i basically did exactly the same on the lines in question which i am unable to show you at this moment in time.

That is all for this update, the next update will have a brief look at where it is now and also have a lovely collection of photos from around Yamamoto for you to look at. This has been a Smirkazor city journal update, i hope you have enjoyed reading as i have enjoyed typing, until nextime seeyas l8er.

Please keep the comments coming, i would like to know that i am not wasting my time bringing you these updates of my developing region, thank you.

i will leave you with a pic of my most favourite piece of terraforming that i have done.

May I recommend a metropolitan greenbelt? I.E. a historical forest?

You could subway the el trains under it, and/or use a whole bunch of lots to increase desirability... that would give it the feel of an oasis.
