The terrain looks nice but a little more erosion would be great, especialy on the snow-capped mountains.
I'd like to see the actual cities.

hey everyone, i am really pleased that my new cj is already on a roll with comments <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif>. now to awnser ur questions.

Simmax, Otakunow: what i have shown you is just a preview of the region before i finnish it, i still have a few quirks with the landscape to sort out, this was just a quick one to preview it quickly, i will take ur advice on using the erode tool etc.

Dolfan: i wont be putting this region on the MEX because i dont wnat anyone else but me to use this region, but after this or maybe soon i will do some little projects on the side of creating regions for the MEX.

and thanks for all the great comments guys, stay tuned, next i will show you the first settlement in the region.

Alrighty then, time for the next regionl update, today i will be showing you my first settlement in River Basin, just to keep a little bit of Lexasland in my region, and as having it named after my first city in the region it makes it special, i have called it lexampleton, and here is the first pic, it is showing just the basic road layout.

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

This next pic just shows the zoning

There are perhaps too many overpasses in that city. Have you ever seen an avenue with one overpass every 150 metres? Also, I see that you have 7 water towers. 1 pumping station is far more efficient for a lower monthly cost. With the feeder roads, the highway won't be used. You can at least destroy the 2 bridges parallel to the highway bridge.
The road layout is OK, but it can be improved.

Oops. I thought that 7 water towers were more expensive to maintain. Sorry.
I'd like to see how the city develops...

I do my bridges the same but it always pisses me off because they use the road instead of the highway and complain about traffic when the highway is empty.

Well then, phew, lots of comments now, right to start off things the bit about the erosion thingy, i said before that it was just a basic region that i did quickly to show everyone what it basicly looks like ok, i will be using the erode tool later but i just wanted to get stated on building.

now for the bit about the over passes, this is my region and i can build it the way i like, it has no relevance to any real life city, im just trying to mkae it look different and a little bit nicer.

the highway is for a later purpose, as i have done before i do a highway layout for the backbone for my cities, when the city starts to get bigger i will build across the river making the highway come into use, at the moment it is in use, about 5 cars to get to their jobs at the incinerator, and with the two other bridges it will be to releive the traffic when the city expands alot more.

those pics are old, i had done alot more when i posted those pics.

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

    and a night view

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

looks nice, well there has been a little extension on the top right and thats about it of buildings in my region. what i did after this is make a outline for future cities over the river and on the same isle where my first city was built.

there are some trouble with uploading my pics, so im gonna have to leave it until tomorrow, luckily i managed to upload the city pics for u, enjoy.

The growth is incredible! I can't wait to see how the whole region functions. Here's my comment on the pedestrian crosswalks: I think that if I lived in that city, their closeness would come in handy. Each one, just a few feet away! In my opinion, add more! lol Just some support. Keep up the good work!1.gif

thnx simguyuk, its good to be back, although i didnt go for that long lol, thnx for the comment Llama_sim, i will add them as much as i can, i really like them, anyway, now hopefully i can finnish my update, so here we go. this update will still be on lexampleton, the next hopefully will be on my next city.

to begin with i will show you something new that i am doing, i am introducing more tunnels into this region, to start thing off i will use them with this highway overpass

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

    next the tunnels go in.

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

i thne added the instant forrest lots to make it look nice.

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

here is an overview, the over pass on the left was what the pictures are showing above.

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

This next picture shows another tunnel project that i did, what i basically planned to do was make it like a small park with fountains etc.

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

and this is what it looked like when i finnished.

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

moving onto the opposite side of the highway system (near the hills) i used a combination of the raised and ground level highways.

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

here is the final pic of today, this just shows the overall view of my highway project.

    /idealbb/files/lexampleton

thats all for today then, in my next post i will be showing you what i am currently doing on my next city, what i have now shown you on lexampleton is all i have done upto now.

Here i am again, ready to show you Baskingville my second city on my region, at the moment i have not begun actual construction and i have just done the basic transport layout, first of all i done something similar with the overpasses in lexampleton, this time diagonally (not the tunnels) as seen below.

    /idealbb/files/Baskingville.jpghttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/Baskingville.jpg border=0>

again i will use a combination of the two sorts of highways, as seen below.

    /idealbb/files/Baskingville1.jpg

i am making a sort of ringroad with the ground level highway with the raised crossing he middle, looks pretty decent, anyway here is a pic of a bit more of the highway.

    /idealbb/files/Baskingville2.jpg

these next 3 pics show the almost completed layout, enjoy.

    /idealbb/files/Baskingville3.jpg

    /idealbb/files/Baskingville4.jpg

and finally a closer pic of the water feature <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif>.

    /idealbb/files/Baskingville5.jpg

Now it's better. It's your region, but there are maybe too many highways, they are like big scars on a beautiful landscape. Also, with the EL, the highways, the trees, the overpasses, the ground highways, the schools the hospitals and the bus stops that you need, I don't know where there'll be enough rooms for buildings! Your developed city is nice though. I still maintain that feeder roads in SC4 aren't very efficient. In your city the road bridges are slighly shorter so all the sims will use them. When you city will grow there'll be traffic jams on the small bridges and no cars on the highway, as the pathfinding engines works out the shortest route in distanceI, time is less important, excepted if you have a modded game. I'd like to see how it turns out.
