Neat.  What do you do that needs that much screen?

Lots of things - modding, web dev, programming, whatever takes my fancy, really.

Current wallpaper (had to reformat my main drive a week or so ago - so annoying):

It is a little busy for a desktop.  Also, next time, post it as a JPG.  A PNG is very slow loading because of its size.

So, it has been a while since I last posted here, probably a year. The specs are the same, occasionally connecting an additional monitor expanding my screen res to 3860 x1080. Switched from red taskbar to full black. Haven't done much to the windows UI really, although my second PC is another story of itself. Rainmeter has practically replaced the need for shortcuts, the ones I keep are mostly for show although my second PC has none.

All pictures one way or another are my stock. I prefer to stick around with the same picture for a year than use someone's else picture. Blame me. And yes, vocaloid renders take forever to do.

My second PC:

1600x900 and 1920x1080 PC seems to have borked the other monitor or the monitor did. Not that I mind much, I don't use it much.

I've never been much of a fan of icons coming in all kinds of odd and uneven shapes and colorpalettes, screaming for attention. It easily makes a desktop look messy. But digging through deep menus can be tiresome too, so when I changed my wallpaper this time, I did a total makeover of the entire desktop. Icons mostly from deviantart, iconarchive.com or converted from the random web with convertICO.com. Startmenu normally hidden from view.

The lady next to the pinballmachine is a photoshoot of 1980ish culthorror actress Cassandra Peterson promoting one of my favourite pins from that era.

Interesting, but stuffing a few of the lesser used icons into an appropriately artistic folder would clear this up even more.

I have my desktop alternate between several different backgrounds. I change them every couple of months.

These files are PNG's, I forgot to save them as JPG's but oh well.

Urban decay just fascinates me....

desktop2_zps6be60e4e.png

More....(Bronx, 1989)

desktop1_zps7faf1b8d.png

Stills from the 1982 masterpiece Koyaanisqatsi

desktop3_zps4312c6ad.png

Another still from the film. This whole trilogy is, IMO, something every human should see.

Sorry, I change my mind. Ignore this.

Thanks for your replies. I agree. It feels a bit crowded still, but if I were to remove any more icons now it would had to be in the second and third row. And that is not where the biggest problem is. Splitting the first row into a fourth, would melt into the "retrogadget"-section, thats the consequence of having large icons, else they would be as small and hard to see as on the preview... :)

What I could do is to mix the rpgs and flight/space-sims alltogether on a second line, since the first one ended up as a general mix in the end aswell, but with the current desktop the planenose would kinda bump into it. Moving the games down doesn't look too good either. So I'm not sure what to do here, change desktopimage???   :D

(And I really should have gotten rid of those computerlogos, don't know what I saw in them)

Anway, just keeping things smooth, applications on the left and files on the right. This desktop is for the computer, my desktop for the laptop is more minimalistic. I believe that a cute image a day can remove the stress away.  ;)

I hate the dumbed-down, flat UI we're seeing in most software these days. And the dock reminds me of how it used to look in original versions of OS X. The dock they had after that actually had more of a 3-dimensional look to it. Aside from that, I like that they changed the OS' font to Helvetica.
