UK Council House (Semi)

councilhouse.jpg

Description:

This is a semi-detached house found in almost every town in Britain. Some are run down & others

are not.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_house

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

This would be great for my CJ and for anyone who wanted to create a realistic British town/CJ. They would be better than morhavoc's council house because his version was not very realistic looking. I tried to make this myself (with tutorials) but failed. PLEASE MAKE THIS!!

Metropolitan Corrections Center (Chicago, IL)

483272909_e49459d3e5.jpg?v=0

fifth-ave-apple-store-1.jpg

A Google image search on the structure will give plenty more pictures.

Description: A federal prison skyscraper located in the middle of downtown Chicago.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

The BAT scene lacks some good jails, and this one is quite neat and unique and will fit in an urban environment much better than the current selection.

Marriott Cincinnati Rivercenter (Covington, Ky.)

R55678_EXT_01_F.jpg

Description:

This is the Marriott Cincinnati Rivercenter, located at 10 West Rivercenter Boulevard in Covington, Kentucky. The Marriott Cincinnati Rivercenter is 14 floors, with 321 guest rooms, 25 meeting rooms, and 2 concierge levels.

More information: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/cvgdr-cincinnati-marriott-at-rivercenter/

http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll/qscr=dspv/htid=201064

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

The building is a high-end, urban "big-name"  hotel, which there are few of on ST. Also, the modern look of the building is perfect for CJers and city-builders looking to recreate new "cultural hotspots" and central-city tourist areas in their medium and large cities.

Hamilton County Justice Center (Cincinnati, Ohio)

bld5.jpg

Description:

Serving as the main jail for Hamilton County, Ohio, the Justice Center is located at 1000 Sycamore Street in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. The jail is 12 floors tall and was built in 1985.

More information: http://www.hamiltoncountyohio.gov/facilities/justice.asp

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

A modern, realistic jail would benefit many players, as the Maxis jail is, in my opinion, somewhat unrealistic. Additionally, the HCJC would look great in any city's downtown district.

Unity Hall - Fictional Capitol from NBC's Kings

Slide1.jpg

Other Links

Slide2.jpg

Slide3.jpg

Description

This is the fictional capitol building located in the fictional city Shiloh in the Kingdom of Gilboa, a fictional country in NBC's show kings. It serves as the center of government. It is described to be the tallest building in the country. I think it is also described to be among the tallest in the world. Because this is a fictional edifice, there are no other sites to link to.

Why this would be beneficial to the community

Because "Kings" is being cancelled, i assume that there aren't that many fans. However, this building would be great in many cities to serve as government headquarters of fictional countries! In one of the other images i linked to, you can see that the base of the tower is more antique-looking will the tower is mostly glass and steel. This would be a great challenge for those who love building skyscrapers! Thanks in advance!

SDM (Suburban Development Mod)

Description:

This mod will have residential, commercial, and industrial lots that will be able to zone on FARR and Wide Curve roads, there could be a different zoning tool, and the streets will have FARR, Wide Curve, and Diagnal Street Plops. The plops can have sidewalks or not, depending on which plop you choose. This mod will also include Wide Curve and FARR Avenue peices, and Wide Curve and FARR Highway Peices. Aswell as all of these plopable items there will be bridges for each road, street, etc. All of these tools could be used in a tool to drag just like the regular road, street, etc.

This mod would also add additional RHW splitters normally seen in sprawl and suburban communities. For example: RHW10 to RHW 6 and RHW 4 splitter, a new RHW, RHW 12 with six lanes on each way. There would be a splitter for RHW 12 into RHW 8 and RHW 4, etc. These splitters can come in with MIS, like RHW 6 to RHW 4 and MIS, and RHW 8 to RHW 6 and MIS. These splitters are reversable. These RHW will have Wide Curve and FARR peices aswell. Also bridges can be used as normal or as Wide Curve or FARR peices. The RHW can be a different draggable tool, just like the regular.

Why this would be beneficial to the game and community:

This would make WAY more realistic suburbs.

Meijer

3687542507_325a750a78_o.png

Source: BING Maps

Location: Ann Arbor, MI (Carpenter Rd.)

Description:

Meijer is a hypermarket (reputed to be the first) based in the midwest area (Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, etc.). A hypermarket sells grocery and general merchandise.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

There is not a hypermarket on the STEX yet. The lone exception is Carrefour, a European-based hypermarket that pulled out of most English-speaking areas many years ago, and that was in the early days of the BAT (and thus not looking terribly great, or scaled). A hypermarket combines grocery and general merchandise.

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

Petrobras HQ (EDISE) - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Petrobras <- Detail of the Gardens (designed by Roberto Burle Marx)

NightShot - Petrobras Catedral <- Good shot of the lightning at night, not sure if it can be reproduced.

Luar Verde Amarelo <- another very good night shot.

http://www.clickmacae.com.br/?sec=368&pag=galeria&cod=367 <- lots of pictures from the costruction (small files, apparently old scans)

Description:

This is the Headquarters of Petrobras, the Brazilian State-Owned Petroleum company. Designed in the 60's and finished in the 70s, it is a very unique building, and it stands out in the modern downtown core of Rio de Janeiro.

Main Company website:

http://www2.petrobras.com.br/ingles/index.asp#

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

Like I mentioned above, it is a very unique building, with a very characteristic design. It is something that would look very nice in a city as perhaps a monument. I just think it would look very very nice.

If nobody wants to do it, point me to tutorials or whatever, as this is something I would really really like to see in SimCity 4 4.gif

Thanks for reading, any questions, email me.

The Gallery at Market East Mall/Market East Station

3702525321_1494a62a46_o.jpg

Description:

Gallery at Market East Mall/Market East Station, the smallest of the three Philadelphia main rail hubs. It is served by SEPTA regional Rail, the Market-Frankfort Line Subway, PATCO High Speed Subway line to NJ, and also a spur line of the Broad Street Subway.  It is also a Mall in Center City Philadelphia with Strawbridge and Clothier, JC Penny and other retail outlets.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gallery_at_Market_East

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Market_East_Station

Why this would be beneficial for the game and the community:

This mall is a perfect example of a Downtown Revitalization projects done in most large American Cities. Unlike most malls which a placed in the suburbs or edge of a city, this one is downtown right in the middle of the action. Along with the combination of a rail/Subway hub, I believe that it can attract alot of C$$ to C$$$ to a downtown area.

30th Street Station (Philadelphia)

3703332752_43fa8f903c_o.jpg

Description:

30th St. Station Philadelphia's Main Rail Transport Center. Served by AMTRAK, NJ Transit, SEPTA Regional Rail, and most of the City's Bus lines. Subway and trolley stations are located a 1/2 block away.

This is the 3rd busiest Rail Station in America besides NY Penn Station, and Washington's Union Station.

http://www.30thstreetstation.com/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30th_Street_Station

Why this would be beneficial for the game and the community:

1. IMO this is America's best train station.

2. Accurately recreating this station would be a transportion hub in SC4: a rail station, maybe BTM or HSR Station, a rail viaduct station, bus hub, and if you really want to get technical, have a Ground Hwy running through the middle of it like the real station (I-76).

Suburban Station (Philadelphia)

3703332618_6ac5767008_o.jpg

Description:

Suburban Station, Philadelphia, PA. One of Philadelphia's main rail transit hubs. Served by SEPTA Regional Rail, The Market-Frankfort Subway line, The Broad St Subway, all the Subway-Surface trolleys, and Bus lines.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suburban_Station

www.svmetro.com/septawatch/stations/cc/img/suburban_1.jpg

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

Not only is this building a unique rail staion, it's Art Deco design blends in perfectly with the New York or Chicago Building styles.

Description:

The Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg, Germany

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

It would add jobs and create volkswagen cars as there is yet to be a plant for them. It would also look nice in a city adding to the factories that are already there.

Toronto New LRV (Light Rail Vehicle)

600_bombardier_streetcar.jpg

http://www.inekon-trams.com/images/inekon-tram-for-toronto-319-s.jpg

Description:

On September 19, 2007, the TTC published their specifications for the ‘LF LRV’, as they are calling the proposed new streetcars, which explains what they are seeking beyond that the vehicle be compatible with the TTC’s existing tracks, which require tight turning radii, good hill-climbing ability, and compatibility with single-leaf switches. The tender requests a streetcar of 27–30 m, with multiple points of articulation, and three powered bogies.

Though the document states that the TTC would accept a well-designed 70% low-floor streetcar, they have since decided to seek a 100% low-floor design; folding ramps may be fitted at the doors to allow stepless boarding where platforms are not available. The initial fleet replacing the CLRVs and ALRVs are to remain single-ended with doors on the right only, and to retain current collection by trolley pole, but the TTC also request that provision be made for future conversion to pantograph, and that the option of buying a bi-directional version of the streetcar for new lines be available. Provision will be made for ticket-vending machines on board, rather than have the driver take fares as is current practice.

The TTC are tendering for an initial order of 204 streetcars, with the first prototypes to be delivered in 2010.Current projections for population increases and new lines indicate that by 2026, the TTC will need to extend its fleet to between 350 and 480 streetcars, suggesting that the replacements for the CLRVs and ALRVs will be merely the first of a large fleet.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

It is a high-tech look streetcar that could roam around Sim City's downtown.

For asking for help finding something, ask your question in the "Can't Find it? Ask Here!" thread.

If the BAT doesn't exist you can request for it to be made in the "BAT Request Thread" (please note the formatting that requests follow in that thread.

    Woodman Tower

    File:Woodmen Tower from FNB Tower.jpg

    http://www.emporis.com/application/?nav=building&id=129572

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodmen_Tower

    Description

The Woodmen Tower is a 478-ft (146-m) high-rise building at 1700 Farnam Street in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, and is the headquarters of the Woodmen of the World insurance company. Originally completed in 1969, the Woodmen rises 30 stories. It was the tallest skyscraper in Omaha for over 30 years, until the construction of the First National Bank Tower.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

This building would pick up for the lack of Omaha buildings.  Also it would be great for people wanting to build an Omaha CJ or real looking cities.

I also wouldlike to put in a second for the already requsted First National Bank Tower in Omaha, NE.

    Old Courthouse, St. Louis Missouri

    https://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a33/zurrabear/Simcity%20Pics/oldcourthouse.jpg

    Description:

Begun in 1826 and completed through several phases of construction in 1862, this courthouse was the scene of the famous "Dred Scott" case.  It is now part of the US National Parks system.  Located in downtown St. Louis a few blocks from the Mississippi River, the Gateway Arch frames it to the east.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

IMO there are not nearly enough government buildings in the game, and this one is truly beautiful and historic.  it could easily serve as a very old, pre-contemporary State Capitol as well because of the large dome.  For people interested in representing historical elements and governmental elements in their cities, it would be a great addition.

    http://www.emporis.com/application/?nav=building&lng=4&id=metropolitansquare-streetlouis-mo-usa

    Description:

The tallest building in Metro St. Louis and the second tallest building in the state of Missouri, One Metropolitan Square with it's distinctive shape and green roof is a landmark of St. Louis.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

St. Louis needs more buildings on the STEX.  Outside of a few brick warehouses there is virtually nothing from the area.  I also find it to be an interesting building design wise and would love to see it in one of my cities.

    2001: A Space Odyssey Monolith

    monolith.jpg

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monolith_%28Space_Odyssey%29

    Description:

The mysterious monoliths from 2001 are hinted at being multi-dimensional computers or machines that track and encourage the growth of intelligent life on planets.  They were created by an alien race many billions of years ago.

    Characteristics:

They can be of any size, as long as it conforms to the dimensional ratio of 1:4:9  The ones found on the Earth and moon (named TMA-0, TMA-1 respectively) are both 11ft tall which would make this very small to model, but I would still like to see it true to these specs if possible. TMA-2 found orbiting Jupiter was 2km "tall". Since they would be so quick to model, a pack could be made easily with both sizes as well as a more practical "sim-size", maybe taking up the better portion of a single or double lot?

Please note that it is not actually just a "black box" but does reflect enough diffuse light to make it appear in 3d.

Also, they are deemed to be indestructable by fire or you know- meteor strikes and stuff.

    Function:

There is no function in SC4 that would adequately mimic the complex and mysterious behaviors of these monoliths.  Therefore I would prefer it to be free of cost (aliens made it before money, or people existed) and have no function outside of maybe a landmark as a curiosity.  Think of it as an uncommissioned sculpture.

Why this would be beneficial to the game community:

It is elegant, subtle, mysterious, and fun. It is a great cultural reference and is a no-brainer for a computer game community. I have searched for one and found this by dada222 www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm  while in the right spirit, it is not very accurate. Some will see it only as the triviality that it is, I think this would simply add to the overall character and sculpture resources of the game for very little effort. For example, I would love to happen across one of these hidden in a region I downloaded!
